Episode 1 of this show hit me like a ton of bricks almost immediately. I’m in my 30s, I worked overnight for about 8 years, I specifically went out of my way to work overnight because I just feel more like myself at that time. My first impression about this show is that it’s not actually a romance, it feels like it was made by someone who understands walking down NYC streets at 2am being more comfortable than going to Walmart on a weekend afternoon. I get this kid, I would throw away literally everything for the call of the night and that’s probably why it’s named that.
THIS!! One of my favorite memories was walking Chicago's Michigan Ave at 2 in the morning. It was quiet but you can hear the city breathing. This show resonates so hard for that.
Nobody around, walking in the neon-lit darkness blasting your vibes into your ears and blocking out all other noise. Foolish for NYC, but fuck... man, that feeling is so worth it. Grew up in that city, that feeling never left me! Suburbs aren't bad either, cuz' nobody is around. Like... NOBODY. Strolling down while the sound of distant cars and a chilly breeze comes by..
thats not the ed, its just the song in the ost, but you are correct, its called Yofukashino Uta (Manga is called Yofukashi no Uta) and the song inspired the author (author of dagashi kashi) to make the manga
Interesting note: The ending theme is called "Yofukashi no Uta" aka "Call of the Night" by Creepy Nuts. The manga author liked the song so much he named his manga after it. So when they adapted the anime they got the song for the ending and got another song by the same artist for the opening
This certainly is an interesting show so far. The art-style is what made me interested in watching it. For some reason the character design reminded me a lot of Yancha Gal no Anjou-san; that kind of stylized realism with like street fashion aspect. Two little details I like so far, in the OP, vampire homegirl doesn't have a reflection when they're dancing in the mirror room. The second one being how her very modern-looking overcoat basically turns into like the very stereotypical vampire cape. The colors are also just gorgeous, the blues and purples of the night sky dappled with the city lights while the characters themselves have more muted or bland colors.
I remember Roshi saying in the first episode of Kakegurui that he likes the character design for the president. Now here we are, we got the chill version of the president, less-gambling, with the voice of Goddess Aqua, and drinkin' blood for fun
I love the color palette in this show. All this vibrant purple and blue, combined with the background music, gives off such an incredibly relaxing and calm atmosphere that perfectly fits the dark of night. You don't see something like that quite often
@@Lazer-bp9lf Art style, really? People out here passing up or proceed watching anime because of ''art''? Yikes, arguably the least important factor that makes an anime or manga.
I read the manga and it's still ongoing. I've never clicked a video so fast in my life. The show is great so far and they kept pretty much everything in it that is from the manga. Hope to see more! Love the content!
The MCs' dynamic with each other and the comedy of this series are fantastic. The manga's amazing (albeit a bit of a slow start) and the anime's been doing a fantastic job adapting it.
This shows trailer and music had me hyped. Seeing you guys watch it in my feed got me to try it and it's fun so far. I like the art and music just like I wanted!
Btw, the opening was made by a band (Creepy Nuts) which song inspired the author to drew this manga. The manga/anime is actually named after that song "Yofukashi no Uta". It was playing at the end of the episode.
Eyy!! I wasn't expecting this at all! A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Anyway, I'm glad you guys seem to be enjoying it. It's a really nice show when you just want to sit back and chill with all the stunning visuals along with the OP and ED (quite the bangers). I personally enjoy watching this at night for that extra comfy feeling.
Yeah. You better continue watching it haha. A cute wholesome series about a boy trying to fall in love with a vampire to become one, and a cute vampire girl who gets embarrassed with talk of romance. A really interesting dynamic and some really fun characters. Especially later on, the story picks up alot and more characters are introduced and fleshed out!
one of my favorite manga to read. the story gets very deep with it's hubris and ability to constantly avoid status quo of what makes a vampire story. even when the plot and action starts hitting, it's very much a character driven story.
Yofukashi no Uta has atmosphere for sure... it's like sitting on the night bus, going around aimlessly, and listening to music, while you stare out the window
i'm with Sheera, there's something about this show and the art that feels very old-school to me. like late 90's early 00's. when stuff was starting to get more detailed and slick but a lot of it still feels kinda raw and hand-drawn. stuff like Big O, Ergo Proxy, Blue Gender. that transitional period between hand-drawn and digital art
So happy you guys are watching this, this show is gonna be great! Also Roshi had the same reaction as the reanimated guys with the princess carry. Is that "insecurity" (for lack of a better word) an American thing?
i don't even watch this anime but i heard of it and i'm watching it here only because you guys watched it, seriously you guys are the reason i live lol, the joy and entertainment you deliver is impeccable ♡
Ditto to what Roshi said, the animation is amazing here, and especially the different colors they use are insanely good looking, especially the night sky.
Ooohhh y'all reacting to Call of the Night!!! That's awesome! Will y'all watch Isekai Ojisan? It's hilarious, it's from this season as well and it's about a dude and his uncle, the uncle was isekaid and came back to the real World and the show is him living in the real World and sharing the stories of the other World it's hilarious lol
About Yamori's choice here being irrational, I think even he knows that. His wording was something like "This is the first time I've wanted something, I don't want to ignore that."
Wishing this was available somewhere other than hidive, but I've been following the manga for a while and this first episode has me so hyped! Please continue, even if it doesn't get to the really good stuff in one season, it's still worth it.
Also, considering both your Magi episode 8 reaction and this one came out relatively close together, that what you say "carrying like a baby" also goes by the name "princess carry" a lot.
Fun fact: As far as I know, originally I think it was a parody for that one bloodlusty character from MHA, I've been following the manga since 20 chapters in and its 100+ now and it just gets better. This show can be 9/10
I don't think so. I'm sure if u r reading the manga then by now u r pretty well aware that the mangaka was inspired from the Ed of this very show with the same name "call of the night". N basically the mangaka just made the story out of the lyrics of this song. Just read the lyrics of the Ed ull get almost the entire story from it.
Let's gooo I never thought you guys would see this anime it's so good every thing was cool in it I love it so much I am sure you will enjoy it have fun
8:25 Haha I mean you said that but for as long as I had conscience I been always sleepy during the day and active as hell during the night, and I tried really hard to follow normal hours and it just felt horrible every time and ended up drifting to active nights again. Now I just accepted that's mi life and let my body decide and I feel great, I work and train late and have 0 medical issues last I checked with the doctor so the change didn't affect anything too much it seems. The only issue is mostly social since I sometimes feel a little out of things with my friends because of course they are active since early and go to sleep early, so a lot of time I lose a good chunk of "social hours".
Bro the first week I recommended this but I didn’t expect y’all to actually watch it. Bro I’m so hyped. Also if y’all can get lupa San on the couch too, that would be great. I know romance isn’t really his thing but I promise, they Finna be a lot of action and mind blowing moments later down in the series. This anime gonna take a drastic turn
i forgot what this is all about. ive half of the manga back then but i forgot what its about and i heard its getting a second season so im rewatching with yall 🔥🔥
Fun fact, the series was named after what would be the ending song, unlike other shows that may name a song after the show its in. Yofukashi no Uta by Crazy Nuts.
Ahhhh this is My favorite anime from this season, Glad I get to see it with you guys 👍🏼 For me this is like Monogatari but with shorter monologues and with better soundtrack 🎶
never wanted to watch this anime and after watching a certain series i decided to watch ep 1 and the fucking lighting and colors are so fucking beautiful and the soundtrack? heat
