long net is funny to me I’m in the west coast and we use a hoop net with a rope I can net up from a longer distance like a tall bridge or pair and fit a bigger fish there had been moments where it’s been a life saver
Upside down or right side up, it doesn't matter - just make sure you thread the bait on straight. The net is linked in the description - ebay.us/KWtYHq
@@CookingandFishing Thank You so Much.....Your vids/techniques are a game changer! Conventional Techniques (high Low or Dragging gulp on a long leader) have you catching 20-30 Pancake size fluke before getting anything close to a keeper...Cant wait to put it in action. I assume there will be a learning curve....
@@josepharvizzigno4641 Haha thanks!! There is a learning curve but once it clicks, it clicks. And it's the same concept/feel for all types of jigging...from super finesse freshwater stuff to cod and tuna jigging - it's about being one with your jig at all times, and the ability to downsize your tackle when the situation calls for it. Tight lines!!
So if the Key Structure is a far cast from Shore (Channel Edge or Bar) would you upsize the jig head (3/8) and use a longer rod, like 8 ft so you can get the same action on the jig, but further off shore?
If that's how far you have to cast then yeah, a longer rod is probably necessary. In which case I recommend the JDM seabass rods like the Dialuna or Lunamis 96m etc.
Thanks!! Tide is very location dependent...some spots produce better on the outgoing, others on the incoming...but usually the fish don't move very far. They just set up differently, and in our experience they almost never shut down entirely. Don't neglect dead high/low water either - some of our biggest fish comes at slack tide!
@@CookingandFishing great to know thanks for the reply! I may also be interested in lessons this season, could you send me a dm with some info on that please. Thank you and hope you have a great weekend!
I tried your technique today up here in Brooklyn. Used salt strong Alabama leprechaun on a half ounce jog head and managed 1 short and 2 keepers from shore. I’ll definitely keep it in my bag of tricks. Thanks for the vid.
@@fishingguuru6888 There's not enough room here to explain all the reasons this is a terrible idea - first of all no one is stepping forward to claim responsibility for pushing through this option - it was not among the favored options throughout the hearing process, and last minute the board adopted it - putting all that effort into one year class is idiotic, a 1" slot is insanity and will lead to a ton of discard mortality and high grading. We've had plenty of days where finding a fluke under 18" was a chore, and for the most part we're fishing from shore. Guys fishing the Jersey reefs come July/August can go through days w/o seeing a 17" fish. I can go on and probably will in later videos/podcasts, but yeah we're not participating in this year's regs. A 17" fluke will always be a short in my book.
Nice fishing. My guess this was just before opening day as you didn't keep any, Plus no one there fishing as it is a very crowded spot. Barely any room every day since opening day.
Looking at his rod holder on last years vids, I made one myself out of PVC. It was very easy. Heat sand and put into the pipe you want to bend for the handle.
Epic my asian brother. I've been watching your vids for a couple of yrs now and the single jig is king. In the Philippines we say dakilang mangingisda(great fisherman)👊🏽💪🏽🤙🏽
