Wow, you must have been really young when you wrote it. That is some amazing songwriting for a young age.

Now that Forest joined your band, will your next album (if there is one planned down the line) continue to have that awesome old material or will you be writing new songs? Because it seems most of the stuff on Dasein dates back to 2005-2010.

@ismaelmossadeq2923 3 года назад
Well I can guarantee you it's not since I shot this video haha The 1.5x speed effect you're seeing is due to : 1. The actual stupid fast playing 2. The high shutter speed, I shot it with a higher than usual (180deg) shutter speed/angle to minimize the motion blur caused by the speed of the picking and tapping! It gives a weird look but a much clearer image! Cheers Tango!

Has the technique used since 1:42 a name or is it just a very fast tapping? Any tips for practicing it?
@mido3ontheway
@mido3ontheway 7 лет назад
Mark Vader Just very fast tapping with the pick, not the finger. It gives a much brighter sound.
@DoggoWillink
@DoggoWillink 7 лет назад
Yeah, he's right, using the pick sideways to tap is what it is, and it can give you a super fast sound. Michael Romeo has always done cool stuff with it for example. You basically just trem tap with the pick. It has to be sideways though because if you do it with the pointy tip it won't be as easy.

This is very different from the afterthought stuff. When it came out I was really into Viraemia so I found it a bit generic... Still do, actually. This new album , however, it's reeeally good. Revisited the band 'cause Dylan from Brian Drill recomended it and I'm pleasantly surprised. Looking foward to the next album.

Hey in case nobody noticed. This video is sped up. That means he originally played it slower.
@PhilTougas
@PhilTougas 7 лет назад
Alonzo Absolutely NOT. I recorded this song at the original speed back in 2013. ABSOLUTELY no studio trickery of the likes was used on any song (or anything the band has ever did). Had this been recorded at a lower speed then put back together at 270 bpm (the original speed), there would be considerably less imperfections in the playing and the fluidity between each individual notes would feel much more robotic. The engineer who recorded the guitars can also attest to that and will also prove your statement wrong.
@afronight
@afronight 7 лет назад
alight. sorry I was wrong. Good fucking job. I was just discussing this film method with our friend and I thought this seemed to have a faster framerate.
@Stormbringer81
@Stormbringer81 4 года назад
This is so completely obviously sped up guys. I wanted to believe it when I first found these guys. It's almost like a mental block. Go watch these guys live, they play all of their songs much slower. This is a fact. This shit looks like stop motion. I don't care how much you say "contact the sound engineer", why wouldn't the sound engineer lie for you? Lol. Do a recording of this song with a DAW in the background including raw audio recording live as you play perhaps recorded through an amp, then I'd believe it. Big ups for writing these amazing riffs and putting them together but this is disingenuous and I'm not sure I can trust a band that pulls stuff like this, what else are they lying about?
@FirstFragmentQC
@FirstFragmentQC 4 года назад
"Go watch these guys live, they play all of their songs much slower." -lol, what? We have never played this song live. How does this comparison work? This song is much faster than the rest of the songs where the average fastest tempos are 240-250 bpm. This song is 270 bpm so of course it sounds faster than the other songs. But that is not the point because like I said, we've never played this song live so the comparison is invalid. As for the rest of the songs, we play all the songs to a click since late 2018 so unless you are talking about older live videos, we are playing the songs at the same exact speed as on the recordings. If you could point me to a specific video, I could calculate the tempo and verify your claim otherwise. "This shit looks like stop motion" "its sped up" -I think you're confused. Playthrough videos work the same as music videos. When watching music videos, do you think bands film themselves performing the song at a slower tempo so the ones editing the video would speed up the footage to fit along with the tempo of original audio track? That makes 0 sense, dude. That would take an ungodly amount of time to do. So here's how it works : I played along to the song I recorded (the original guitar track you're hearing was recorded years before, in 2013), at the original tempo and yadda yadda, and we put the original audio file over the footage to showcase HOW the song was performed ON THE RECORD and to show how the riffs were played ON THE RECORD. Years later, I play the song much differently now because my playing style is in constant evolution. Sure, it would be interesting to hear a live performance of it today to show the difference. For example I use way more pinch harmonics than before. But the point back in those years, was to showcase how it was played for the record. Bands often do "miming" videos like these to present the way the song was originally played on the record to promote the album and its release, because taking audio straight from the camera always sounds bad 95% of the time (not to mention having to sort through various angles to find the best room audio capture). I totally agree that doing it with a DAW is preferable in most situations otherwise but in this context, there is a purpose behind this practice. As for how it looks, If you film in super HD with multiple angles and add some filters, it's bound to look this way. I just know that saying that this is sped-up and stop motion is just flat out wrong hahaha.
