I think this is one of the most informative episodes on the rut I have ever seen. Brilliant. Be where the does are and do not worry about scrapes. Thank you!
First hot doe brought an absolute ghost to me last Saturday. 5 years of trail camera history never in daylight, 5 years of hunting him with zero encounters.. 9 1/2 years old.. half a decade came down to 30 seconds and he came home with me finally.
Bill, I have to make it happen this weekend in WV as temps drop to around normal for two days after record warmth this week before we get a two week stretch of record breaking heat through mid November. Never seen a fall like this with 20 degree above normal temps and going on two months with no rain at all. Good luck to you this weekend too.
Good info! I would say that after a rain shower hunting a scrape line might be productive the first week of November as I once killed a decent buck freshening his scrape after a rain. I’m in Maryland and my favorite day of the year is 11/7…have seen some chaotic rutting and chasing on and around that day…weather factoring in obviously. Thanks!
I’m in WV and yeah, 11/7-11/10 is usually prime time, but looks like we’ll be wearing t shirts in the stand as we are supposed to have record breaking heat the first two weeks of November.
Seen the first nice buck today around 3:30,wind shifted from south to a cool north wind in Central Wisconsin. Didn't see anything after that though. I was thinking I'd be covered in does but not so.
great video bill, love how you’ve gotten agro and hunted, we’ve done the same and also have been tricked into relying on camera info so much! play the wind and HUNT HUNT HUNT
Yes. I am going to spend the best days hunting my best spots despite not having any mature bucks on camera. I am believing one will slip in and look for does.
@bill-winke I'm retired so I hunt wen I think it's right. And even wen I don't think it's rite. Appreciate you Bill. I'm long time follower an long time friend with Steve Bartilla.
Are weather in northeast Arkansas has been nothing but hot and dry. Choke on dust walking to my stand. Buck pics I have are only at nite. Hope things changes.
Bill! I get 1 week of vacation. I had it booked for the 4th-8th, but was considering moving it to the 18th-22nd based on bucks showing up more then in past years. Seems like from the 1st-8th is good but then from the 9th to about the 13-14th its "slow", then picks up again after that until around december. Like bucks are in that panic mode after the lockdown phase. Thanks!
You are on the right track. I have found the week of roughly November 14-20th can be slow. Best hunting for me has always been now through the 13th and then again starting around the 22nd. From then until December gets increasingly good around food sources. Good luck.
I’m just gonna sit in the tree and see what happens. Sure cooler temps would be nice but hunting in warm temps during the rut is still better than working!!
They gave it to me because they sponsor the show and want to see their logos on the episodes (obviously), but I don't think they sell them publicly. Have a great day.
That could well be. For sure there is less daylight activity during the primary cycle if it is warm. Forecast looks decent this year though, at least so far.
@ supposed to be low 70’s for gun opener here in ky 11/9 😩. but last year 3rd weekend got pretty good rut activity, and i saw bucks still chasing / breeding into january, but its still fun just to fellowship w hunting partners and be in the woods
That is the Hawk with a double trigger. You have to call them to get the double trigger. I liked that feature because I like a light trigger tension but then I went to the Claw this year. It has a much lighter trigger. Here is the link to the Claw: b3archery.com/product/claw/ Good luck.
I live in a tiny state in the northeast and the doe outnumber the bucks bigtime! Not uncommon to see 6-8 doe traveling together , tough to see a lot of bucks cruising far, they simply don’t have to!
That does make it lot tougher. The best rut hunting I ever saw was on my southern Iowa farm after we had shot tons of does for several years trying to get the deer numbers down- way more bucks than does. It was really intense activity during the rut - lots of searching and fighting! Good luck.
@ i know I should eliminate some , it would open up my spot bigtime ! Great info as always and you should look up how tiny Rhode Island is you would laugh ! And understand our struggle , Great channel !
