Lion Steel are expensive in Canada! WMT Knives is the best choice for a Lion Steel fixed blade. They give you a break on the shipping to Canada, plus the 10% discount. Bought a Lion Steel Ace Grand from Blades Canada and its very nicely done. Now l want one of their fixed blades.

By all means get one, every one of their knives the level of fit and finish is absolutely perfect and I own several yet I still find myself buying more lol I guess you just cannot go wrong buying any lionsteel really

Looking forward to the full review! I get along very well with the t5 and m7 so I imagine I would with this knife too. Having trouble finding reasons to justify it though. Thanks mate

I have many lionsteel and all sizes of fixed blades in general and I can assure you the steel alone is well worth grabbing yourself one of these, knife steel app says it is two times tougher than M4 toil steel!!! Lol, nuff said

I really want to know how hard it is to sharpen. If it has the wear resistance and toughness as m4 it will be horrible to sharpen in the field
@klausheisler5014
@klausheisler5014 2 года назад
Reprofiled mine to a shallow convex & it's a pain to sharpen, takes way longer than 3V. Similar to elmax at 62hrc. Holds an edge forever though & if you look up the crucible & bohler impact data, K490 is actually tougher than 3V at the same hrc. It's basically a steroid infused version of 3V. That being said I still prefer 3V due to the ease of sharpening. After the K490 blades are gone they will be made in 3V. In hindsight I wouldn't have bothered getting the T6. Dog 💩 geometry, very thick behind the edge, had to put a high shallow secondary convex on it so it would actually perform. Handle is also 💩 compared to the T5. They seriously missed the mark with this one. It looks good & that's about it.

I'm guessing you meant 7/32 for blade thickness. That is a hunk of steel but not a 1/2 inch hunk. Lionsteel sure puts out beautiful knives don't they.

It's like an esee 5, the m7 is the esee 6, m4 is the esee 4, and the m5/t5 are in-betweeners.

Yeah wait till you put an edge on this badboy lol I have the black one one of 999 made and I did not like the toothy edge that skipped across wood at all so I went ahead and laid the edge back, convexed it and WOW this steel is freakin hard I turned it into a badass performer once I put my own edge on it and I've got a super strange feeling that edge isn't going anywhere anytime soon lol it will definitely outcut my sliepner T7 for sure and it felt harder than even my scrapyard sr101 knives I guess the knife steel app wasn't lying when they say it is two times tougher than M4
@jimlahey5623
@jimlahey5623 Год назад
the sleipner one is "M"7 not "t"7 :) there is no t7 model from lionsteel yet So you are content. Damn pretty difficult decision, i have sale on lionsteels here in Poland, and i cant choose, m7 or this t6. Sleipner, or k490.

@@sirsir9665 true I just didn't have the info in front of me. It was mostly trying to point out the revelation that they would actually for once pick such a decent steel as 3v as a option in general sure the m390( always irked me there was no real pricing delta between d2/niolox and m390 models) are totally passable on the few that have it but odd choice for a fixed. But because the derigure for lionsteel is niolox/d2 and being a collector it's become essentially a non starter. K series steel are fine but I see why they are chikening out. They don't want to deal with other reviewers/users whining about spot rust that and if you don't heat treat 3v just right you might as well not bother at all. D2 is less tempermental with air hardening. And most of all the real reason they use it is that it's wayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper compared to cpm steels.

Hi I don't know if I have had a badly hardened knife but this steel is bad for me, it is very easy to cut but it is not suitable for impacts, it is chipped too easily. I did not expect it especially for the way it was presented. Wear resistance, super steel but where? The Sleipner and the Niolox also from Lion ... are 2 times higher. A real disappointment especially for the price ... Hello from Italy.

buongiorno! how did it chip? By far everyone is saying that it is hard but dont chip. Such comments like yours sir are preventing me from buying it. It is quite expensive. I think i will go for M7 in sleipner instead, a lot cheaper knife

No there are other knives… including the JeoTec series , KaBar and ColdSteel which you could buy for 1/2 or more less than the lionsteel. Even the gerber series , which are practically unbreakable.

Of course there are cheaper knives than LionSTEEL but none of the knives you listed are in the same weight class as LionSTEEL .I think you'll find that they're a a good deal when you compare them to knives that are more comparable to them like Extreme Ratio , Fox or Fallkniven

While that may be true it is the same as buying a ontario knife they're finished to a general purpose and the end user is meant to refine it however they intend to use it lol I have this T6 with the black handle and let me tell you the factory edge was thick and toothy sure it sliced paper clean but on wood it skipped and didn't bite well but once I laid it back and convexed it this thing is insane the steel bohler k490 superclean is known to be twice as tough as M4 tool steel and lionsteel ran it HARDDD on the Rockwell because my diamond plates barely scratched it but eventually with my venevs and a lot of work I got an insane performer and this edge isn't going anywhere anytime soon I've already accidentally smacked it into a steel drum and it didn't even touch the edge not one mark and no damage whatsoever so yes if you're buying a knife for the edge that comes on it from the factory then you're buying them for all the wrong reasons hahaha

@@kevinAuman1 Ontario and T6 have a huge difference in price point. I won't ever buy a $300+ knife that won't cut and needs to be re-profiled...
@mrdarren1045
@mrdarren1045 2 года назад
@@augustus63 fair point. I guess for that money we should expect an edge to come perfect as standard. I always refine edges on my knives but I also resent having to do it. The only knives I ever bought that came with perfect edges were a chris reeve and a trc. And from what I hear Chris reeve has dropped their standards since chris left the company. I have had a couple of lionsteel knives and while they came with nice fit and finish I did have to sort out the edges. It's really not good having to do that on a new knife. There should be one guy employed in these companies just to put the edges on and after a while he should have it down perfect. Theres really no excuse to be buying brand new knives with crappy edges. It's such a let down.
@augustus63
@augustus63 2 года назад
@@mrdarren1045 Totally agree. I have 7 TRC's and they always came perfect out of the box, with proper edge angles and well sharpened. Many companies should learn from them

@@augustus63 yeah imo trc is making the best factory knives available at the moment. Everyone raves about bark river but I only bought one and I'll never buy another. It had terrible flaws in it and the tip omg. One side was basically ground flat like as if he fell asleep while putting the edge on. It was terrible and beyond fixable. Plus other botches on it..for £300 I will never gamble that on one of their knives again. Trc are better in every respect and have a great heart treatment and theyre cheaper. It's a no brainer.
