Finally we made it to Wales! In this video, we share our first impressions of this wonderful country and I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to tell you we loved it! This is only part one (two more videos to follow), I hope you enjoy it!

I don’t pretend to be a travel expert, but I love what I do and would be honoured if you came along with me. My channel focusses on the wide-eyed wonder and excitement of finding somewhere new, and my genuine reaction to it. You might not get a history lesson in my videos, but who knows, you might pick up some useful travel tips along the way, add a few destinations to your bucket list and hopefully be entertained by what you see. Thanks for watching, it means a lot to me :)
I do ALL of this myself. Planning, filming, editing, promoting, all with a weekly upload schedule, so please understand not every video will be an epic adventure. But my pledge is to always do my best in any situation.

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I'm afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for RU-vid Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

Growing up in Edinburgh, my father used to get quite irritated at English visitors to the city being unable to pronounce what to us were straightforward Scottish place names. The name sign for Eglwyswrw at 16:09 reminded of my father's 'road to Damascus' when my parents went on a fortnight's touring holiday of Wales and he found out that he couldn't pronounce a lot of the place names properly and the Welsh people were very polite about it. He was a reformed character after that!

I think you went through every part of Wales that means so much to me. You drove right past my old house after the bridge with the tractor on (just out of Machynlleth) and before Corris (where you had your bird encounter). Mid Wales is glorious, it's definitely my spiritual home. I was a bit teary when you were in Aberystwyth as my parents are buried there - my mother died just before lockdown and I haven't been able to get to the grave yet, hopefully next year. Thank you so much for this video, really, really appreciated it. Oh and did you know that you can get a bus to and from Poppit Sands? It's called the Poppit Rocket I kid you not! 😊 I'd love to see more vlogs of you travelling around the middle of Wales - lots of fun trains walks and historical sites to discover. Thanks again 🙂💕

I’m from Glasgow and took the scenic route from Chester to Tenby during the Foot and Mouth outbreak around the early 2000s, I took a wrong turn and ended up in a village called Bethlehem, the girlfriend was annoyed and suggested we look for somewhere to eat and rest for the night, it was a holiday weekend and everywhere was fully booked…no room at the inn lol…we eventually found a B&B in a local tavern in Llandridnod at around 22:00 hours who although it was after their scheduled mealtimes prepared some food for us, they sat with us and chatted with us into the early hours having a laugh about our weird experience…the Hospitality I have experienced around our own countryside and shores is second to nothing…Us Scots are blessed to have such wonderful neighbours. Keep Creating Content Steve…You are a Star (and the Good Lady too). 😇

The Welsh language, or its forerunner Brithonic was spoken all over Scotland and much of England. It's still evident in place names like Strathclyde, Clyde, Clywd, Cumbria, Cwmbran, Penrith etc. I believe even Dover is derived from the Welsh word for water, Dwr.
@BreninCoel
@BreninCoel Месяц назад
@@MaritimeFox Dover may be derived from dwfr, Old Welsh for water/river. It is rendered in some Welsh place-names as dyfr in the modern age, e.g. Dyfrdwy.

Duw mawr, what a lovely video! As a Welshman living in England, it filled me with the hiraeth. It was so good to watch someone from a beautiful country appreciating another beautiful country. Wales isn't always (usually???) as sunny and dry as that, but when it is, it's breathtaking.

Incredible! Wales is very beautiful! Filled with breathtaking scenery, charming wee Villages & Towns with such quaint buildings, historical Churches, delightful B&B's, stunning beaches with crashing waves & lovely picturesque Sea Fronts, Piers & Harbors. As well as, the truly impressive & majestic Cliffs along the beautiful Coastal Path. Complete with 'Sheikh' Steve there, sporting his fine 'Arabian' 'headdress', blowing merrily in the breeze, whilst clambering up & down the Cliffside!! LOL. I didn't realize this flowing 'headgear' was so popular & fashionable in Wales as well! Who knew? LOL. Beyond that, I think it was definitely wise not to go swimming in the 'Witch's Cauldron' after all, sign or no sign, as the water looked very churlish & 'dicey' under there.The water there, reminds me of Loch Ness & looks exactly like 'something' or 'someone' is lurking beneath the waters there...and 'tis definitely not Seals! Yikes! Maybe 'Nessie' took a wee vacation perhaps? Or, followed you to Wales? Better take the 'High Road' next time! LOL. Thank you for sharing this delightful experience in beautiful Wales! 'Twas lovely to see Alicja again & both of you being able to share in this wonderful adventure together! Praying that God will keep both of you & your families safe during this terrible Storm. Blessings to you both & to all the dear folks in Scotland & the UK affected by this devastating Storm! May God keep all of them safe as well!

My abiding memories of wales will always be the scenery , we would go on family trips to see relatives and once we hit Wales my mother who ALLWAYS sat in the front seat would have my dad stop and I would take her place on the front throne because the drops on the sides of the roads terrified her ! Wales in sun is picture perfect, but for breathtakingly beautiful try it with a good dusting of snow, its almost otherworldly.

Hello and greetings from Australia, this was without a doubt one of the most picturesque journeys I think you have ever done, those little towns and villages that you travelled through I could happily see out my days in any of them and die a very happy man. So nice to see Alicja back on the road with you and I do hope you are both fighting fit, thanks again for a most beautiful vlog I enjoyed every moment of it. untill next time I wish you both good health and happiness, cheers for now.

Really enjoying this time with you in Wales...absolutely beautiful (if a bit hot while you were there-I loved the swimming and surfing scenes!). The one thing I was hoping for that didn't happen in this first video was hearing a Welshperson speaking Welsh. Ever since I heard Richard Burton speak (in any language), and then a Welshman read Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales" one Christmas Eve (first in Welsh, then in English), I have chased opportunities to hear the Welsh language...or a person whose 1st language is Welsh speaking English with a Welsh "brogue". The Welsh language is as gorgeous to the ears as the Welsh countryside is to the eyes!

One the best ways to go into Wales is from Shrewsbury in England through Welshpool and head west or North to Snowdonia . It's lovely. I go every year using the best B and B in Britain just over the Border called Rorrington Hall as a base. You must visit Montgomery castle it has stunning views of the Marches . And best of all it's free.

To be honest, other than being able to point out its location on a map..... i know nothing about Wales! The scenery in this video is spectacular! I love the little seaside towns along the coast! The narrow little streets must be hard at times to navigate through! Here in Nova Scotia CANADA where im located, i photograph antique carshows as a hobby and running into the carshow you happened upon would be a dream come true for me! That 1960 Cadillac Alicja got to sit in was amazing! Of all your videos ive watched so far, this has been my favorite! Thank you for making & sharing them!
