My GK two was my first resin printer. I got the full kit with the ultrasonic & curing station. I absolutely love it. The only thing I've ran into in the past 2 months... I just wish I had about 2" more on the build plate! Lol. Same goes for the ultrasonic & cure machine. I just wish they were a bit bigger. Also, just to share mt experience for anyone that reads this - like I mentioned, this was my first printer. I had watched a ton of videos beforehand so that definitely played a part but I was unboxed and printing within 15m. I had my first real print completely successful with all defaults using phrozen resin within an hour. Simple at every step is a valid slogan.

1 huge plus for the GKTwo is the heating in very cold regions. I spend about half the year at or under freezing and the anycubic heater just cant handle it. I think the difference is it is heating the enclosure and the top layer were the GKTwo is heating the bottom layer of the vat and that seems to be the important part. I have only had the GKTwo for about a month now but it seem significantly more consistent in very cold temps. That difference was well worth the extra money for me. Very good comprehensive review.

From what I can tell, they're throwing the wifi adapters into boxes post packaging of most of the printers, as a change during production they wanted to push out to as many customers as possible. So some of them get more than one, because probably they don't track which ones got an adapter as closely as one might like. For example, I reached out to their support when I broke a set of tank clips(those spare clips in the box), and my unit had been packed prior to them including them in the printer box, so at no cost to me, support sent me a new set of tank clips, not only to replace the ones I'd broken, but also to ensure I had the normal stock of extra tank clips that their newer units would have.

I have observed several reviews of this printer, and this particular review stands out as the most informative and comprehensive. It was beneficial (perhaps not for you) to observe the challenges you encountered with the vat, as it provides a realistic perspective on the printing process. I genuinely appreciate your candid and thorough reviews. As a new subscriber to your channel, I encourage you to continue providing honest and valuable insights. In reference to the M5s Pro, I encountered a printing issue where a print detached from the supports during the printing process. The printer promptly notified me of a "zero release error." This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of the printer's intelligent feature in detecting and communicating printing errors.

pretty sure when they said that "this is just a backup" they meant the levelling kit was a backup in case the pre-levelling was off, not that the pre-levelling was just a backup. I do think it's worth trying a printer that is pre-levelled as it comes out of the box first, rather than levelling first, to test how good their pre-levelling is. Especially as I've seen other reviews where they found the pre-levelling was fine. A printer that generally doesn't need levelling out of the box is something that would benefit people (if done right), so def a claim that should be tested imo.

Dude, if you don't have any old supports to place down in the vat for the tank cleaning...get a sheet of A4 printer paper, or even just card board (and in teh case of the paper fold it several times so it has some thickness to it), then bend it into an 'L' shape, and place one part of the L down on the FEP and hold it there while the tank clean exposes...works perfectly fine...much better than doing what you were trying to do...

Very entertaining video. I really liked how you, right out of the gate, tried to destroy every single piece of the machine :-) On a more serious note, I don't like that you got results essentially only by sanding the build plate. Also that vat design gives me second thoughts, as it seems to have several serious flaws (also mentoned in the comments below).

You can see on the carbon filter holder that it has two vents, one that pulls in from the printer and one that exhausts back into the printer. Which is ideal. You can't judge a resin from the vat cleaning function because it tends to over-expose on purpose to make sure it's got a thick layer to peel up.
@petercallison5765

With Anycubic and as far as I know most printers, you don't need to use a vat clean option. You just go into exposure test and tell it how many seconds you want.
@FlesHBoX

Another thing that makes me wonder about that vat design is that whenever you remove the vat you are dragging your release film across the screen, potentially introducing scratches, especially if any dust gets under there. As someone who takes great care in never touching the release film with anything that might scratch it, that would be a concern for me.

Watching you clean the vat was a horror show lol. Its my least favourite thing to have to do as well but jeez, you made it more of a task than it should be. You pulled the vat first letting the build plate drip resin all over the screen. Then you squeeged the fep and vat with the plastic scraper and mopped up with paper towel. Yikes! 101 on how to wreck your fep right there. Ideal method allows you to minimise contact with the fep as much as possible. To easily remove the sheet of resin after a vat clean without touching the fep, place a raft with supports from a previous print in the corner of the vat then run the vat clean. To remove the resin sheet pull on the supports sticking out of the resin to lift the corner and peel the sheet out of the vat. To clean the residual resin out of the vat use a silicon spatula (Woolies, Coles, 2 dollar shop) instead of the plastic scraper as it won't scratch the fep. Then to remove the remaining resin from the vat use a silicon basting brush with alcohol in the vat to work the resin into solution with the a alcohol. Drain, then while the vat is tilted spray alcohol, starting at the top, and push all the residual alcohol / resin down to the spout on the vat so it drains out. Vat should now be clean and you can dry with a non scratch microfiber cloth. This will cause the fep to take on a static charge and attract dust and fibres to the fep surface. Use some painters masking tape to remove any dust and fibres from the fep and LCD. Place vat back on printer and your good to go.

Awesome video, as always Six! Great to see the issues that you had as an experienced printer. As many others have said, this kind of real insight to the ins and outs of using printers is much more helpful to those of us starting out, in seeing what can go wrong and how to deal with it. For the record - Americans actually spell Aluminium differently to us, in line with how they pronounce it, so while it's a good shout, you're not going to gain any insight by comparing it to how they say/spell "condominium". They're a weird bunch, and as much as they try to co-opt the English language by referring to actual English as "British" in order to try and legitimise their weird version , we still love 'em and most of what they do ;)

The max fill is when it flows into the little recessed shelf towards the back corner. The exposure test really should be a full screen, like the vat cleaner function. Also: put a sheet of paper over it first 😜👍 A little helper for emptying the vat: put a strip of masking / painter's tape across the corner leaving a small gap right in the corner that's big enough for a steady pour rate.

The thing with Chitubox is: it's only for printers with Chitu hardware inside. There are several printers with different Mainboards, than Chitu. Therefore, those can't be used with Chitubox. The printer in this video, my printers from Uniz and several others are incompatible with Chitubox. If you have a few manufacturers, Lychee is simply the easiest slicer to use - especially, if the printers have the same printbed size. Change printer, select the matching resin profile. slice again and you are good to go with just a few adjustments.

Idk, I couldn't imagine a printer without wifi now though. I set it up as a network drive on my PC and after slicing I just drag and drop onto the internal storage of the GK two. Now I just wish I could start the print remotely too. After having my Bambu P1S I'm spoiled. The Resione TH72 Long-lasting Tough Resin is a brilliant, tough, resin, that can bend and generelly not break - It's worth giving a try, I've been using it for the last year, and the only breakage I've experienced, is when a miniature fell from 1.5m height down own tiled floor, and it was just a feather on a cap that broke.

Couple of things. 1. I'm glad your critical. Small things can be very annoying over time and helps companies know upgrade options for later models 2. People who complain about these things prob bought the printer and don't want regrets so they are just babies who can't take criticism. 3. With your accent I need you to say "tight like a tiger!" When you say something is tight!! 😅

Aluminum was the original spelling, then in uk it switched to Aluminium. Same with soldering, the USA say it the original way, (sounds like ‘sardering’) then UK changed it to soldering.

I live in hell so don't need a heater. This Printer have the same light source of the Saturn 8K and only have one linear guide rail but cost $850. if Elegoo or Anycubic used only one linear guide rail to save money the complains gonna be eternal.

I made a saturn 1 lid mod using a monitor hinge to get a hinge with resistiance so you can lift it up and it will stay up from the friction and it will fall down but not hard. I also made a super simple and effective pla hinge that does the same thing, it's literally just a bolt washers and two pla parts, idk why they don't use hinges with friction.

I always use the ABS pro 2, it's by far the most tolerant resin I tried and I never saw much difference compared to the "specialized" miniature resins out there.
@zramirez5471

Apparently the reason for the difference between Aluminum and Aluminium has to do with the British Royal Society (that's the science ministry, right?) and the first New York paper to report on aluminum in the US: the BRS accepted "Aluminium", but either trying to save the cost of printing the 'i' or by some clerical error, in the US the circulated name was 'Aluminum', and it stuck.

Love ya work mate. re. Reviews vs first impressions - I agree with you, most products have things we don't like about them, but the real question is how easy the limitations are to work around which is something that comes with using the machine. Does the company offer regular firmware updates? How well do they respond to warranty claims etc. These are important things to know and aren't answered in a "quick" review. BTW, I am wondering if the lid for the resin tank is to also keep in the volatiles that would otherwise escape and change the chemistry? Also, what happens if you end up with resin on the top of the build plate? Will it get in and gum up the works?

I'm gonna risk you addressing this later in the video (but to be fair, you did just ask for comments on the format, which I like a lot, btw). I think the resin vat has to be stepped like it is for the chonky build plate to work. When it goes down into the resin, it would take up the vast majority of the volume of a straight-sided vat, so you would have almost no resin capacity. The steps on the side give the extra resin a place to go when its pushed out by the build plate. A proper pour spout on vat would still do wonders though, along with some design work to make sure there wouldn't be places the resin can get caught and escape like it did near the rear when emptying it. I do think that the build plate not submerging is a really good feature, it being less annoying and wasting hardly any resin. The messiness while removing prints is what has kept me firmly on the FDM side of 3D printing up till now, but if this feature makes it to a cheaper printer (or some extra money turns up :D), I will probably be taking the plunge into the resin side as well.

@@OnceinaSixSide I have a mono x2 right now and not being able to print due to winter coming on is annoying. The saturns definitely have my interest especially the 4 ultra with the tilt release, just don't know whether its better than the heated bed for the GK2?
@OnceinaSixSide
@OnceinaSixSide 3 месяца назад
@@ghalgor The heated bed is nice, but don't get tricked into thinking its necessary. A blower heater like that comes with the M5s Pro is just as effective. Also you get better firmware and hardware on these newer machines. The Uniformation has flimsy plastic bits prone to breaking, and only has a small single linear rail if I recall correctly
