We're off to El Chaltén! In this episode, we'll say goodbye to El Calafate where we got to witness countless glaciers including the world-famous Perito Moreno, and we'll continue to another popular destination in Patagonia. The town of El Chaltén is located inside Los Glaciares National Park and it is the trekking capital of Argentina. You come to this destination to hike and enjoy the raw, natural beauty of the place. We made the journey from El Calafate to El Chaltén by bus (roughly 3.5 hours) and it was very scenic! Once we got settled in the hotel, we explored a bit of the town and also did an easy sunset hike to Mirador De Los Condores which is at the entrance of the town and offers really nice views of El Chalten. Stay tuned for the next few episodes for some epic trekking adventures!

Hehe, these episodes sure came in handy during the pandemic! We've got a few from Chilean Patagonia and Ushuaia still to come. Then it'll be time to start travelling again! 😅

That was the general store, there are 2 seperate grocery stores for if you ever go back haha

@@samuelandaudrey there are 2 on either ends of San Martìn street. Coming from the direction of the bus terminal you'll pass the 1st - Super Mercado El Chalten. It's after the pharmacy and if you've passed the Patagonia outdoor store you've gone too far. The entry is easy to miss, the exterior is white. The 2nd - Minisuper, is at the other end of San Martìn. You'll feel like you've been walking for ages till you pass a wooden restaurant Don Guerra. The next store is the supermarket, the exterior is a light blue/green. It's across the street from Maxikiosco (Small Market). There heaps of smaller food stores too. My fav being Almazen, a health food store. They do a lot of dry goods so you can make your custom trail mixes here, a luxury I didn't think I'd have there!

El Chalten área looks very nice! This old man can't trek much so I'm going to pass on this area south of Calafate! I assume your visit was in December 2019! Good timing! Was there a refrigerator in your $54 suite? I have been trying to track down the restaurant on the east coast Beach town you visited. I think the name was #in! Sam, you eat the lamb shank

We found the internet very slow there. Didn't find a fast connection during our visit to be honest.

Argentine peso has slid down so much since Audrey and Sam had their $10 pizza. Wondering how Argentines deal with the inflation (currently tracking at close to 50%) that accompanies the peso losing value, while the economy contracts.

Question.. how do you guys manage with the Argentine exchange rate ? From what I understand there are 2 different exchange rates.. an official rate and then s black market rate .. BLUE DOLLAR ???

If you're planning to travel in Argentina, it's best to bring USD (crisp new bills with no marks or rips) and exchange them at the blue dollar rate. You can exchange them at hotels, supermarkets, etc.
