After struggling with the weight of full frame lenses, I decided to purchase the Lumix G9 II. Using the Lumix 100-300, I was stunned by the quality of video and photos coming out of this setup.
Thanks for the video : very helpful 😊 After years of shooting full frame Nikon (d810, d700) I took the plunge with the G9ii. Mainly using with the Leica 200mm 2.8 for football and getting some very decent results 😊
Nice review of the Lumix G9 II + 100-300mm Lens combo...although I upgraded from the 100-300mm Lens to 100-400mm Lens , i still retain the 100-300mm Lens as this is a great lens ,so light and handholdable for the entire day ...Thanks.
I still have the G9 MKI and it suits my needs. I would like the G9 MKII but my finanical situation means that I can't buy anything new for a year or so. Thanks for the upload and good review, enjoy your new camera 👍
Thank you for such a great video! I have a G9 mark 2 on the way, but after seeing that vlog style footage you got with the 9mm perhaps I should have ordered one of those too!
Thanks for this comprehensive review. I currently enjoy my G9. I'm going to switch shortly to the new G9ii. Seeing all the reviews, I'm quite excited about it.
Hi, have tried video shooting in open gate at 5.8K. How is the rolling shutter performance in such a setup? My current G9 video wobbles a lot in such a scenario.
I always go back and forth staying or leaving mft. But it is hard to beat the crop factor and video performance without spending serious money in full frame. I recently just got the ttartisans 500mm lens, and it is an ok 1000mm on mft. The amount of money to get that in full frame would be just too much, and impossible to carry around in a bag.
Good practical user review. With a bit of planning and the the right lens(es) I've found no problem in achieving OOF backgrounds with m43. I do share your concern about low/poor light performance, you can't beat the physics of sensor size. Y
Have you ever tried the Sigma 56mm f1.4 on an M43? A prime lens that costs relatively little ($250.00 on used) and produces excellent blurred backgrounds. There is also the Olympus 75mm f1.8 prime lens, excellent or if you want blurred backgrounds (but it costs twice as much as the Sigma). You can also use the Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 (the first version on the second-hand market does not cost much and is also a great zoom for indoor sports in arenas) to get great blurred backgrounds.
@@cameranewb3878 I had both the Olympus 45 F1 8 and the Panasonic 42.5 f1.7. They're both small and compact, produce great blurred backgrounds, and don't cost as much. The Olympus is very, very cheap but the Panasonic is sharper, a real "blade" even at F1 7 and has warm "Leica style" colors (for me it's a rebranded Panasonic Leica). They are perfect for small cameras like the GX or the M10-5 from Olympus but using the G9 they seemed too small (a matter of aesthetics, the 9mm you own is bigger to make you understand) so I preferred the Sigma. If that's not a problem for you, you might want to try the Panasonic. I haven't tried either the Nocticron or the 45 Oly F1 2 pro which are 2 expensive lenses but which are undoubtedly of great quality
I agree on the Sigma 56mm lens. I’ve used it on the GH6 and now on the G9 2. It focuses quickly and the background blur is perfect. Oh, and it’s a tiny lens. Thanks for this video. The micro 43 system has its place.
Stunning shots. I haven't even considered a micro four thirds until now. I've been playing with my two Sony camera for about a year. I just captured my first good manual high speed shots last week. Now I'm looking for a minimum 300mm zoom lens for nature shots. The spending never ends, does it? Thank you!
Hi, nice review! Can you tell me if the G9II has a digital zoom feature? My G7 has a 2x or 4x digital zoom and it comes in handy. My GH6 doesn't have it and I miss it sometimes
So… I found the teleconverter selection, but digital zoom is not there. I went through all the menus. It could be somewhere buried in another menu. I googled it, but everything is for the original.
1400 used 😮 howwwww. Here they are still around 1600-1700 euros used 😢. I’d rather buy one new or with a price drop. Although it’s getting more and more difficult to wait… I want one so badly and I’m hoping there’s going to be a price drop soon.
