From what I’ve seen now it’s all the new Squire Sonic series. Great step up in quality and thanks for your reviews , convinced me to buy this ! The next week the price dropped to $160 but I don’t mind . This is a bargain at $200. And like you said the Cali Blue is gorgeous. Also, no need to make excuses so much, your reviews are great ! Nice guitar, I'm not a big fan of blue but this one looks nice. Maybe its the blue and black combo, I'm so used to seeing blue and white lol. sounds great too! Great video keep it up!

My favorite are the Squier bullet/affinity telecasters. They’re just solid workhorses with a punchy midrange tone that really cuts through the mix. I love modding them to my own personal preference. Long live Squier!!!
One of the nicest guitars I've ever played was a squier 40th anniversary edition. Might be from the setup it had from the shop where I tried it, but I was impressed.
my squier 40th anniversary tele is as good as any fender tele. Swapped the pickups with.tone riders and all good quality electronics and boom, as good as a fender. Frets are the only issue. cheap frets will wear fast if you play a lot
My favorite affordable guitar I ever purchased was a Yamaha (I forget which model exactly but it’s the basic of basics) it had a nice heavier weight to it, immaculate fretwork, action and setup was just amazing - gotta love Yamaha craftsmanship!
My favorite budget guitar is the Ibanez VC47 V Series Grand Concert acoustic guitar. It was my first real guitar and was a great starting platform that got me into playing guitar. Though I’ve gotten more expensive guitars, I still come back to the Ibanez and thoroughly enjoy playing it.
Squire Mustang would be my pick for an inexpensive guitar. But that is primarily because I want to eventually get a 24inch scale guitar. As a beginner with only an acoustic guitar, older guy at age 59, and feeling the need to try something short scale, the Mustang has a great appeal.
Good video. Been considering the hardtail single humbucker Sonic Strat in this same california blue. Wanted to see the color outside of fender's stock photos and ended up watching the whole video.
My Favourite Cheap guitar is either my Squire Strat in black because for some reason it sounds perfect or actually the squire mustang because it sounds really good especially for the price.
It's either a sonic or bullet strat I'm not sure I haven't got it with me but I got it about 6 months ago it was my first electric guitar but I'm progressing really quickly. Thanks for the heart btw
My two Squier Affinity Strats (one sss and one ssh) and Affinity Tele are my favourites as they are of good quality and sound great. They are of good service to me to this day.
Great video. Came across it by a search on the Sonic. My favorite budget guitars have always been Squier. Strats, Teles, Mustangs, Jaguars you name it. I got in on the Squier Affinity Starcaster (semi-hollow) a while back, and then the Sonic series came out. I jumped on the Arctic White Esquire H and never looked back...love this guitar. From what I've been seeing and reading, people are amazed by the quality of the entire Sonic line. You are correct; that California Blue is stunning on my computer screen any way.
Best affordable guitar lately is the single coil Squier Sonic mustang! Got it a few months ago and haven't been able to put it down. Loved your recent video on it too

I have the Squier Fender, passed down from my brother and I've been jamming on that but I dig the sound of that Sonic mustang!! I especially love that beautiful blue and black combo, I sadly didn't get to choose the color of my first guitar since it was passed down but I would've definitely loved to have a guitar with that blue!!
I played this model yesterday at GC. Really liked it but the frets ends were unplayable and I didn't want to pay full retail and have to do a major fret job. The pink 1H with the maple neck was finished perfectly but I preferred the blue. That was all the Sonics Mustangs they had out. So I guess fretwork is a crapshoot on these. Otherwise I love this series. I have the purple Esquire and a yellow SS Mustang on the way and keeping my finger crossed.
Yup, unfortunately Squier's quality control is not the best. But I also really like the Sonic series. If you get a good one they're really fun! I'm thinking about reviewing one of those Esquires as well.
My favorite inexpensive guitar is the Yamaha FS800. Was my first guitar and I still play it today I think it’s the perfect guitar to learn on. Body is perfect size for average size folk not too big like a dreadnought but not tiny like a mini but somewhere in that concert sweet spot. This mustang looks and sounds beautiful 😊
My favorite cheap guitar is any oddball Squire I can find. I found and subscribed to your channel a while back when I had picked up a VM Cyclone and wanted to see your review.
I really love the Squier bullet mustangs, I’ve never owned one but they play and feel so nice and fun to play. Great guitars that I’d recommend to anyone!
My favorite lower-cost axe lately has been the Squire Affinity Jazzmaster released a couple of years ago that finally had single coils and a tremolo. It's not the lovely regular Jazzmaster tremolo, but still a very responsive two-point system. The pickups on mine (they appear to have varied depending on when/where you bought one) are almost a hybrid of Jazzmaster and P90 pickups, and offer a wide range of tones. Neck feels smooth, tuners keep tune well and I love the rich lake placid blue with black pickguard. I hear sweet things about those Mustangs too though. :)
Nice! That Affinity Jazzmaster was actually one of the options ArtOfShred subscribers could vote for a few months ago, but they chose that I get this Mustang HH so here we are! I do plan to review one of the Affinity JMs eventually, though.
Really like the California blue colour. My fave is the squier affinity jazzmaster which i got in black as my first electric guitar. Now im interested in a mustang😊
Thx for the info, I received points for sales to spend on a work rewards site and have enough for this but also the bullet- multiple affinity guitars but I just can't pull the trigger outta fear of choosing the wrong one. I work very hard for the points and can't really afford to just go buy a decent electric. Thank you! Personally, I would probably go with an Affinity HSS Strat, an Affinity Tele, or the Sonic Mustang (single coils; although the HH is fun too). I don't think you'd be unhappy with any of those choices, but it really depends on what you're looking for
I was thinking about buying a squier sonic mustang SS and I just finished watching you review of the SS. My current "cheap" guitar is a '91 Samick; I've made multiple changes to it.
Oh damn that guitar looks really cool.. Somewhat moody and cloudy with that blue color, vintage and... like it has some soul to it.. I hope that it ends up in good hands! Also my go-to cheap guitars are definitely yamaha pacificas!
I worry the California Blue doesn't come across as well in photo/video but in person it looks beautiful. As for your choice, the Pacifica PAC112V is one of my favorites.
@@ArtOfShredYT Yes practically PAC112 and WQM212 or WFM212 are litteraly the same guitars but with different finishes. I have wqm212 and it’s a great guitar to experiment with upgrading over time and really making it look, feel and sound like you want it to and to make it very personal. Only issue that I had with her is the tuning stability, but i replaced old plastic nut, string trees and tuners with graphtech’s and I have no more issues (but i don’t use tremolo bar). So the next thing I’m upgrading at minr yamaha is that bridge that really doesn’t work for me.
So far, my favorite el cheapo special is the Mitchell MS450. Although the Indio 66 Dlx is pretty nice as well. The Mitchell was setup nicer out of the box.
I’m sure the Mustang has been given away, so, my favorite “cheap” guitar is a Fojill Strat/telli is just fun to play with/two Humbuckers and single in the middle.
I got a schecter spitfire 6 diamond series from my uncle before he passed away. it's not working right now and im looking for a new guitar right now. I've always played acoustic for 15 years never bother with an electric guitar due to my financial situation. :)
I’m really digging the mini jazzmaster, I’m modding the heck out of it and it’s nearly an 800 dollar guitar now, but right out of the box I was really impressed.
@@ArtOfShredYT it’s not completely done yet, I would love to send you a video once it is! A lot of cosmetic stuff mainly i went with matte black everything, I have the Olympia white, so I got a matte black hard tail bridge instead of the original, fender locking tuners, string saver saddles, graphite nut, emg revelation humbuckers, new string trees, of course new strings and changing the knobs to yellow, I’m going to have it set up properly so once that’s all done I would love to send you a video!
My favorite cheap guitar is Squier Bullet because it's affordable, it's a fantastic platform for mods and if there is something wrong with it, you can easily fix it yourself.
@@ArtOfShredYT I bought the HSS one because it’s blue version was the only one I liked visually. But they actually sell the blue version with SSS config now, so that is my recommendation for ya. Keep rockin
My first guitar was a Mitchell's mini strat for a 150$ I gotta say the quality was really nice for what it's worth and I've been happy with for the longest time

Ya never know, you might have gotten lucky and ended up with one that was just slapped together really well. That's why they say "try before you buy", because the quality control on these overseas subsidiaries is all over the map, some are firewood and some are surprisingly fantastic
I bought the Squire bullet mustang and the fretboard was horrible and inotation was way off. I'm a novice on guitar repair but I finally accomplishment made it to the point that I have to buy the sonic version. I'm going to use it as a mustang main goto guitar. I've been saving money for the sonic version. I don't need to modify at all. I'm not lucky on winning things.
Been thinking about my favorite cheap guitar...after long thought...it has to be the one I cut my teeth on when I first learnt to play.....harmony flying v, got it from sears... love to find another to try it again.
My favorite cheap guitar as of right now is actually an IYV Les Paul I bought. I’m not a fan of the Les Paul shape or neck feel but I wasn’t expecting it to be such an awesome guitar for only $100.
The best budget guitar I’ve played is actually a stagg fusion bass. We use them at work for kids to play but I’ll quite often pick one up if I don’t have my own bass with me. In terms of your traditional six string electric, I’d have to go for a squire tele thinline.
I have a Squier 60's Classic Vibe Stratocaster and I love it. Not sure if that is everyone's definition of affordable but it was a pretty reasonable price for me. I also have a MiJ Hybrid II tele that I got for twice as much and while the tele is definitely a better build I still grab the strat a lot. I've never played a shorter scale electric though.
Squier Classic Vibe are always great. I consider cheap/budget/affordable anything under $300 -- I actually got my CV '50s Tele for $300 -- but it's subjective. I've never played a MiJ Hybrid II Tele but they look great. Definitely not in the cheap category :)
My favorite cheap guitar has been my Epiphone Les Paul LP 100. For about $250, it has the basic LP look and feel (at least close enough for a occasional player like myself).
Honestly I if I hear it and I think it sounds cool or just don't know how they create different voices with the Instrument, Ive finally gotten to a point that im good enough people lime to hear it so I wanna start plugging in and playing with the endless electronics and tricks so versatile and able to take a beating lol
As a new guitarist, my favorite cheap guitar (er...only) would be my Epiphone Les Paul special II plus. Paid $179 for it, but the quality on my specific guitar is quite good, although I have seen some QC issues on others...
I am an older player who has mostly played acoustic for 50 years.. But some arthritis and slacking off from playing for too long has made it difficult to do barre, chords, etc. So, I've been looking for an electric that is easier to play. I have been told a shorter scale makes it easier.. and weight is also a factor for me. My Epiphones are extremely heavy to me. How did you find the weight of this guitar? You didn't mention that in this review or the other Mustang (Torino red) Thanks for these reviews!
Thanks for sharing. I don't have arthritis, but I do have other issues (tendonitis and carpal tunnel). I'm not sure if short scale is necessarily better for arthritis, but it might be. I just weighed them. This HH is 5.9lbs and the single coil is 6.8lbs. I find the weight on both of them just fine for me, but I was surprised that the HH is so much lighter.
Different category, but I really dig the Recording King Dirt 30s series 7, and the Single O that I have as a couch guitar plays and sounds good enough that someone might never feel the need to get anything fancier. I say this owning several other all solid or solid-top acoustics.
I had a Squier affinity j bass that lasted me 12 years before getting another bass. During that whole time I never really thought there was anything else I could need in a bass guitar.
Well, i don't know what cheap really is, but i like the Squier contemporary stratocaster special that is an affordable one. It's beautiful a d the pickup configuration is different from a normal strat
Hmmm, I've got a Squire, a Harley Benton, an Epiphone and Artist Guitar all in the budget range. However, my favorite is my wife's guitar which is an Arbor guitar made back in the 80's (I think). Vintage Budget!
As far as cheap budget guitar definitely the Mitchell MS 450. Pain getting this guitar from Guitar Center though…You have read my story…took 3 tries to get one that wasn’t damaged. It was worth it though for the features and a price under $300. Not sure what the price cap is for a budget guitar? My Epiphone Les Paul used to be a budget guitar pre-January 2021, but not any more!
I consider anything under $300 in the cheap/budget/affordable category, but I know not everyone does and it's definitely subjective. But the MS450 is a good choice :)
I really enjoy Squier cheap guitars! I have buy a brand new Squier Tele Affinity start pack butterscotch yellow, in 2013, like it, but out of the box there were sharp fret. Also buy a brand new Squier '51 in 2005 or 2006, not sure, the first model, not the vintage modified that came later and really not cheap, really really like and I hate myself to have sell it Do the giveaway include Canadian citizen? :D
I'm kinda surprised they changed the fretboard and body on this series but it is more true to the original now. I've never played a Jet but might have to add one to my list
I like that one too. I bought it new for $150 back in 2020. I liked it, but the pickups were pretty muddy and I sold it instead of replacing them. If not for the pickups it was a really sweet 7 string.

@@ArtOfShredYT coil split and sheilding is unheard of on a budget guitar I read somewhere that it has stainless steel frets but I’m not so sure about that
@@ArtOfShredYT I read it somewhere when I first got mine but can’t find it now it doesn’t say anything about it on Mitchell website so I’m sure they’re not. I love the way the wood grain looks on the back it reminds me of the baseball cards that the picture would move when you tilt it
@@ArtOfShredYT currently have a couple of strats. But mostly play my orangewood Oliver jr. I am loving the shorter scale. That's what got me to this video, been eyeing the sonic mustangs.
I prefer the single coils, but I wouldn't necessarily say that one's better. Depends on what you're looking for. And for whatever reason I love how the single coils sound. The humbuckers on the HH are okay, but don't do it for me.
You should do some instructional videos for setting up and maintenance for guitar maybe some lessons to get more views. I don’t know why you don’t have more viewers.

Specifically, I have a Dimarzio Super Distortion that I'm going to install in a Epiphone SG Special I and some Dimarzio tele pickups that I might install in the Indio Tele.

Scar My Guitar is an underrated channel as well Sean makes guitars and repairs guitars maybe you guys could do a collaboration to broaden both of your viewership. It’s sad to me the effort that is being put in isn’t being seen by more viewers. Guitar fans are a loyal bunch Know Your Gear is proof of that Phil is pretty awesome and his fans need to see your channel so you can get that caliber of viewership.
