Ameca is made by UK company Engineered Arts. As seen at CES 2022. Features natural gestures, intelligent interaction, and AI. Follow Tech Reporter Rich DeMuro for more cool tech news, gadgets and more! / richontech
yup and it's extremely simple- they build a small batch of robots. They sell out instantly. they take out a business loan to scale. Production ramps up to meet industrial demand. People buy them from all over the globe. Robots everywhere begin to mimic iRobot scenes. Are *you* ready for this?
Me, too. Asimov's dream comes true... And this is kinda frightening. My fear is that without emotions and the "second brain" human has, the gut an AI can only come to one sided decisions. Are we really ready to handle this?
I'm sure they've talked, I mean in order for us to have the modern automobile several manufacturers and inventors had to put their ideas & products together.. the marriage between a Boston Dynamics & Ameca is such a natural thing it's a marriage made in robot heaven.
The facial expressions and details are amazing and I love the fact that they made the skin robotic gray instead of painting it like flesh and making the robot creepy. This is much better.
We all know that the best versions of the robot will only be used by big tech and everyone who earns millions per year. The general public would probably get some crappy plastic variant with limited functionality.
It will be affordable to most in the future...so long as the future allows for a very, very long time from now. This robot should be affordable to an average joe in about 50 or so years...but the robots being made 50 years from now will make this look like a toaster.
Have NONE of you seen Terminator? This doesn't end well! Seriously though, this is pretty impressive. It's amazing how much better robots are than they used to be.
@@justsomeguywhoneverdies9210 About the Terminator comment? No. It was a joke. About how much better robots are than they used to be? Yes. It's amazing how much progress has been made.
It seems to me, they don't quite have the mouth right yet in today's creations, but they are making huge strides in robotics; this is an amazing example of their advances.
Engineered Arts are getting more amazing with every new generation of their robots. And there are other great UK animatronic artists too -- like Gustav Hoegen. Although Tim Hunkin's creations may not be as naturalistic, I think they are also charming in their own way.

I have the feeling that they are controlled by a human somewhere, the motion is very impressive but I don’t believe ai has advanced this far (at least i hope so)
@@ricardos.5802 yes, I would believe that Stuff like this has better AI then the AI that we see in consumer goods but this just seems fake to me (at least the responses of the robot, I’m impressed by the almost Disney level animation)
@@melley420 The answers are being produced by a control guy in America the creator said but the eye interaction and motions are all preprogrammed the creator said 👍🏾
Many are scared because u are witnessing the “future” in your very eyes. These stuff is bound to happen not exactly like the movies but it still will happen just wait on Mars and Neuralink
@@tenguniquehadorakku851 I think the fear is in the notion of a singularly. All it would take is the improper use of networking capabilities and any advanced ai anywhere on earth could “break containment” and essentially utilize the Internet’s entire infrastructure for its neural network. What happens to all these glorified Alexa’s in that instance? Could all networked Ai be utilized by one central actor, all at once? And if so, could anyone stop it without shutting down the same infrastructure we rely upon?
@@Progress24.7 I agree that militaries have tech that is kept hidden from the public, this company isn't a military contractor, though. The company (Engineered Arts) hasn't even figured out yet how to make it to walk. It contains only basic software with preprogrammed functions. It's just a platform without an AI at this point. A quote from their website: "The main purpose of Ameca is to be a platform for developing AI. We love designing and building robots, we’ll leave it to you and all the other amazing (naturally intelligent) brains out there to create the AI and machine learning algorithms and see how far we can progress the technology together."
Robot flirting receiving standing ovations from the crowd does mimicry act at the show for free online ai education ,displays machining learning using high profile sophisticated on line softwares.
Yes but since you have time traveled you would certainly have caused a temporal rift, and accidentally started the paradox that invites the machine wars early. You would have no choice but to hunt down the first m1 chip to stop Apple from inventing the Ai network that allowed the Tesla bot army to blot out the sun... Have you never seen a time travel movie? Do you want to have to take your own mother to the prom? It never ends well.
The word "Robot" comes from a 1920 Sci-Fi play. Robots like this were already in the movies at that time. In 1952 newspapers were already raving about computers as "giant brains", and many people imagined that they were either already smarter than humans or soon would be. I think the best scientists from that time would have been very surprised and disappointed if they were told that 70 years later we have computers that are almost unimaginably faster, and can do millions of billions of arithmetic operations per second, but still cannot really think as humans do.
The robotics are cool but isn't it just a person responding through a microphone, like it's not actual AI responding to his questions right? Just think we should make that clear.
I like the modular components on these. I saw another video where it seemed to have very realistic facial expressions. So real I wondered if it was cgi. Looks like they need to work on syncing the voice with the movement in the mouth.
I watched Amica the robot very very impressive. I was just wondering do you think the robot can learn , after having watched it's range of movements, conduct and orchestra or learn to conduct an orchestra. It would be very interesting to see the results.
It would need multiple external microphones and maybe cameras for volume, tempo and harmony analysis in order to properly instruct musicians. But sounds like it can be done.
Ameca's lifelike range and fluidity of motion reminds me so much of Cleo! I would love to hear a little about how many structural and fumctional similarities there are between them, and what are their capability differences, Besides Cleo having realistic human looking eye's, skin and hair. They're already so advanced it seems like it would be quite far ahead of Musk's Tesla Bot design.
Although still impressive, it seems Ameca is (partially) controlled by a human somewhere behind the scene. This is clearly visible in the end of the video, where Ameca anticipates on the outro of DeMuro who at that point is looking at the camera and not looking at her. Still somehow Ameca is able to anticipates on this outro by waving her hands before DeMuro asks her to say goodbye to everybody. The constant promotion of the UK is also a bit strange.
Wonderful. This is the most humnan like robot built by far Good work!! (Much much better than Sophia). If future version of Ameca can have some improvement, it will even more amazing! Currently the arms and hands appear less natural. Would be great to make Arms 1cm shorter, Hands a bit smaller. Put a joint in the wrist.
I’m not excited at all. I’m disgusted by it but more so by those who have made this. It’s an abomination to Yahweh and blatant disobedience to His commandments. Isaiah 44:8-11 Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame. Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? People who do that will be put to shame; such craftsmen are only human beings. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and shame
@@prettypuppy6752 as a Christian I don’t see the correlation between the biblical concept of an idol and a robot which is a mere device. Would you be disgusted by a toaster if it had a face and had Siri engine built in?
Impressive hardware! I see that the speech is remotely controlled.. but maybe try integrating with gpt3?! And can't wait to what other devs would contribute to this robot
Yes the company has released an updated version with gpt-3 integrated..looks really good!..also the company is working really hard on the legs/walking...
Did it? Or is there "a man behind the curtain"? From this 2 minute video, one can hardly know what is controlling the movement, let alone any verbal response.
I understand that in this world we are moving toward animatronic. However I don't mean to dampen your efforts. AI evolves and in evolution. Decisions are made. Be careful with Pandora's box. What seems good can easily become a disaster. Have you ever seen these movies. IRobot Or The Matrix and Fail Safe. I think that was the other one. In a few words. Human safety primary protocol. Protect at any cost.
Robots could be the interface between AI and humans in this reality. If humans could plug their brains into the net then that would be another interface creating a 2-way traffic of intelligence.
you're looking at the face of death… It is true AI is the most dangerous thing mankind's ever invented. An artificial life form with no conscience and has already been known to think for itself. Faster stronger. Military has first rights. I'm not that knowledgeable but factories during World War II built a four engine bomber in four hours… Can you imagine what mass production today could do making an army of these.
Looks like someone's been watching too much terminator 😂 These machines are more expensive than an average 5 room house and people still think that robots will be infiltrating the world, think 4th dimensionally for bit 💀
@@OctAngel it's only the research that is expensive… 1942 mass production built a 4 engine bombers in only four hours. These little things could roll off the production line 10,000 per day easily in the military already has their stamp on it just waiting for it… Since when did you start trusting the human race when as I speak nations are producing weapons of mass destruction
@@jeffrenman4146 Dude production is pretty low right now with everything and it will remain that way for a very very long time, think 4th dimensionally again. This pandemic thing ain't going any time soon, more variants of the virus will continue to be produced and that will continue to cause a mass shortage with everything in the world, thus robotic parts will remain scarse for a long while. Don't be scared of these things being mass produced cause the chances are extremely low. Artificial intelligence has an extremely long way to go before actually causing anything significant anyway because that sort of intelligence won't ever be able to copy the intelligence of a real person and it NEVER will.
@@MrLulzim47 to create a slave to do man's bidding… Yeah not something to cheer about. I agree and your comment was very good… Military has first dibs. Not to mention lack of jobs and all the other problems making a super race
is that she doing like someone being interviewed? like the movement of eye to the camera and when someone out of focuses on interview they'd be like seeing something around. that's emotion of someone not comfortable of the interview. thats awesome and scary.
This is sci-fi coming to life. I think this is amazing and a great way to advance human socialization. If people from 100 years ago, even 50 years ago, were to see this and all else we've accomplished in engineering they would be amazed!
@@fteoOpty64 lmao, true. Imagine taking someone from the past century an bringing them nowadays, where a person at the other side of the world can be contacted within seconds. It would be an instant stroke
This is so cool.I hope uk company gonna fix the hands.Actually there are some finished realistic hand that other ppl was doing in the past!Maybe u can do that.more than that point is about the face's anatomy and lips. The conversation is so good.U guys might really train this AI so hard
The invention claerly demonstrates critical understandings on humanoids interactions and differs from the robotics in the past. Definately providing inspirations. Apprecaite in faith. We made another creation with understandings. It is really great invention.
I understand the hyperbole of saying that it looks life-like and just like a human, but you better save this video because it'll look like when old magazines had ads for impressive computers that wouldn't pass for a door alarm today.
