@@Winchester7734 I wouldn’t go that far. He still provides educational videos on gear and rifle setups and still does reviews on rifles. It’s just a little less serious and more fun now
rule number 1. look cool. rule number 2. know what youre doing. rule number 3. if you dont know what you're doing, look cool doing it. keep up the good content, not sure why i hadn't seen your channel before.
Seen a lot of youtube "tactical" channels and I must say this is one of the very few where I'm like, "OK, I need to do everything this guy is saying" .. I copied this belt setup and it is EXCELLENT. I went with the UBL loop, QLS, and a Safariland holster w/ ALS without the hood... Just about a perfect setup. Thanks for the help man. Awesome vids. Keep it up.
I was an FMF Corpsman. IFAKs are great and a must have for pretty much everyone. Even if you don't know how to use it the Medic or Corpsman responding to you will know how to use it.
A good rule of thumb I was taught by Zach Harrison of Northern Red, was the let your shooting arm hang naturally and swing your hand back and forth slightly and your finger tips should be able to go under your holster. If the holster in below that you need to bring it up. I use a mid ride holster as well.
Garand Thumb I thought so too. Learned a lot of cool little things from him and that class. Great video again man. I follow you on IG as well.@tdcruiser
Great advice! I'm a basement operator and your guidance saves me lots of time since I rarely get to go out and run around with my gear. The battle belt systems work well for me since I don't use plate carriers. I keep it simple and light by carrying ammo and ifak only. Cheers!
This was immensely helpful as I continue to design my rig and belt setup! For my rifle setup I carry and train with a dump pouch because I retain spent mags. (I re-index partially spent mags) it’s my training preference. It adds bulk that I’m comfortable with.
I really like the idea of keeping chem lights on the belt line. I use green, yellow, and red chem lights and have been thinking about ways to keep a couple more handy for our group's SOPs (red for wounded, green signals a clear room or obstacle, yellow signals a danger zone, like say a car bomb that had been defused but not destroyed, for example (bad example, but you get the point)). I tie them off with a small loop of 550 cord which is super handy to then tie it off to the signalled item. Just wanted to share, help the knowledge boat flow, and all.
I'm really glad to have this video and similar from other serious gun tubers. I no longer setup my belt with cool stuff and can now really wrap my mind around why some gear goes in the pack. Multitool. ..
#1 I think you're really handsome.... #2 I'm LE and work 5 days a week with 20 pounds on my waist everyday. I totally feel ya on the minimalist mindset. If I get that call (like what happend to us on Oct 1 in Vegas) I absolutely need to throw on a rifle plate....that being said it's going on OVER my 20 pounds of shit in already have on. It's not pretty. To all the guys who want to look cool....check yourself. Go light. Go fast. If it doesnt help in in that 15 minutes of hell breaking loose...dump it. Great vid bro. Fcuk I wish my waist was that skinny again. Btw....QLS is the shit....us it folks.
I use a 2.25" black cow leather belt made by an Amish leather maker in Pennsylvania and it provides enough ground and strength to put whatever you want on it..... It looks like a old school police duty belt, but man it is an all your life secure belt.
G-Code's Softshell Scorpion Mag Carriers are hands down the best. Especially after they repriced them @ $19.99 per carrier. I love how the rifle one can accept AR & AK mags with zero modification / adjustment needed.
As a point man in Afghan on night patrols, I cut IR chem sticks open and dripped them to show the path I had taken. Not that I could really clear the trail of IED's at night, but it was what we had.
To prevent mobility issues with warbelts, many people use them with much lower size then them really fits. In this case front side did't covered with molle, pad or some gear and can't influent on your leg movement. It's a good feature to use warbelts with minimal size ever exists.
I was a Marine, still a police officer and SWAT TEAM member. I use my Condor elite Tactical belt with the cobra buckle! It's great. My patrol belt is a Safariland basket weave pouches on my Safariland basket weave 94 buckles belt. I have Safariland basket weave triple retention holsters on both belts. I use my Marine Corps 67 M 14 pouches not a dump pouch. My hand cuffs, duty light, and scabbard for my 21 ASP AND MY GERBER.
Garbage equipment that will slow you down bro. Why basket weave?? Get yourself a Safariland 6354RDS Holster and a trex arms Orion belt. It has a inner belt and outer belt
I don't know how it took me so long to find this channel. Excellent! Only thing: I prefer to use a second belt for carrying stuff. This way, when you finally get some fresh food after eating MRE's for 3 weeks straight, you don't drop your gun in... 3 weeks worth of MREs, and maybe crayons.
Hi GT, Thanks for the great information. Ever thought of doing a video on the first aid kit, what items should be in it, and how to use these items? Kind regards, Will
You know, underwear is no joke. I was trained, back in the late mesolithic age, to wear UDT shorts as underwear, under utility/BDU trousers. I still employ a variation on this in my civilian work gear. It provides extra protection to the entire area, ventilates (you're free-balling), and dries acceptably in the event that you get wet. Anyone know of any improvements on this old SOP?
I personally prefer merino wool boxers over anything else, they're expensive and not the most durable but they're very comfortable, moisture wicking, soft, stay in place, very rarely if ever pull a leg hair, they're just awesome, they're lightweight, they're warmer in winter and cooler in summer, you're not constantly pulling out creases from ya know cuz they stay in place and stay dry, yeah they'll get damp but you usually dont notice because the part touching your skin is dry and wool is insulating whether dry or wet, it's the perfect clothing material, I hate cotton, nylon, etc for normal clothing articles.
John is the man. I've followed him for years and never had issues. His gear is solid too. You should buy one of his dump pouches, I know how much you love them >;)
haha, I bought one of his belts about 3 years ago before I started team and he had it rush shipped to me. Again great product. Really similar to the soup nazi, don't ask questions. Just enjoy the soup.
Great advice and I love the thought put into your setup, it's giving me great ideas for my own equipment. I built my warbelt based on my experience in Afghanistan. In my case, my job was to be the command photographer. So I'd be taking my armor on and off constantly, with all my primary magazines on my vest, I had 1 in my rifle and two secondary magazines on my belt. All the PSOs I was working with had warbelts so they'd have their gear when they were walking around and I really liked that. I also liked the security of having a full vest and because I was mostly being flown everywhere weight wasn't much of an issue. More and more I'm seeing infantry and special forces go to plate carriers and I'm debating getting one or going all out on an IOTV. (for personal fun and practice since my unit won't get issued anything unless we deploy again.) I like that you mentioned the leg strap on pistol holsters. I was issued a serpa holster that went half way down my knee, had to take off one strap and lift it up to a reasonable position on my leg. Anyway, cheers!
I use the original soe gear rigid belt for use with my duty belt. It has a kydex insert and can stand up on its own. I have found that the more rigid the belt the better it holds up to the weight of all the gear.
thanks buddy good video. spent 10 years infantry and it seemed like i could never get it perfect or i was always changing my setup. i guess at the end of the day you gotta do what works for you and your body type.
love having my crye belt with Ifak, utility pouch, holster and a some extra mag pouches. I do kinda regret not going for FirstSpear and their 6/12 system, and the metal buckle. But I tend to love anything from Crye and FirstSpear
I dig it coz you're not using them fat type battle belts. I'm cool with the minimalist approach coz I got teh belt setup, then the chest rig, and the backpack. Im not a slouch, but I'm man enough to admit that the whole thing is gonna be heavy. yeah yeah, I'll get back into shape. love ya man
I use a dump pouch exclusively for my back-up crayon supply. You must a have a field expedient solution for easy to reach nutrition in order to keep those energy levels up, and this works for me.
I wore/wear my plate carrier clean and a separate, and war belt with suspenders over it , no pouches in the front. well I do have my hydration bag/pouch on the back of the carrier. It just makes things easier for me.
I by no means am an operator but I do like the HSGI Battle Belt because I can just throw it on without having to deal with belt loops, feeding mag carriers and my holster. It does impede movement a little but for the classes I've taken it's been an OK option.
Condor did and still does make so, so pouches, but,... NOW they make equipment that uses full 500 nylon and well stitched. Yes it cost more. So I guess they made enough money from the paint ball and Sunday dress up groups that they could afford to get into the big boy stuff. Yes I do have a few. I think they gave them a new type condor logo and name as well. Love your to the point, this is it as I see it reviews. Thanks, a new subscriber.
Am using my old (but looks new) SOE EDC Belt w/Cobra Belt Buckle for my Tactical Belt ! The most important item on the Tactical Belt is the 5.11 Dump Pouch so the zombies do not track or follow... Recently added the Plastic Sheath for the Leatherman Raptor. And the SOG Seal Pup carried on the strong side that may need the tie down strap like you powerful noise maker ! Also have a Tourniquet, Leatherman Tool and the Chem Lights... And still must mount the Trauma Kit with the Umbrella Moral Patch. Thank you for the video ! tjl
Super cool video I really appreciate how you really use your hands instead of having you show your whole body and future us looking at your groin area really cool LOL
I really like my tyr tactical gunfighter. It's a lot like the ronin with the molle webbing, but it doesn't fit in your belt loops, it uses a velcro inner belt system.
I think all this new stuff is amazing I was a soldier starting in the mid 1980 and I was issued webbing it was shity actually it was totally shirt it rubed chafed and ripped you to bits I am an ex British soldiers and we got all the shity crap my job now I can't say but all this new stuff is incredible it makes my life so easy love the show
I'm setting up a range belt and I'm going with a Maxpedtition Mega dump. I have take a few tactical training courses and I'm pretty sure I'll find it useful during these type of classes; we shall see. Also thinking about having custom kydex belt case made for my smartphone.... again.. this a range belt set-up.
I love you practicality and minimalistic approach to gear setup. It definitely made me thing about my current array. The plug, stop, and make hole is a simple and great way to think. What is your military/LE background? I am a military instructor and plan on doing it once I retire too.
Just discovered your vids, keep up the great work! Loving the dry humor, and I am guessing you have experience over in the sandbox. I like hearing your "how and why" over just the "do this" stuff. Keep it up!
Make a full video on the IFAK and keep it to TCCC levels of training? When I deployed in '13 pretty much every body that did some kind of operating had that kinda training.
S and S makes a drop system that is adjustable for where you want it but I believe it is only for safari land Blackhawk and g code. It may be better than having a leg strap.
I'm not military (as my username may suggest, I work in a vineyard and cellar), but I've got a kit; I have relatively long arms and legs, and I've got my radio on the right hand side so I go with the mid leg holder for an easier pistol draw. Though I could probably edit my kit a bit, I feel like I'm being excessive with my primary mags (3 on front, 3 on the left)
