the concept of this mv is the real exo, without crazy costumes, vs. x-exo, which are the monstrous reflections of themselves. so in the fight scenes they’re fighting themselves. also exo is actually 9 member, when this video was shot 2 were serving in the military and one was doing solo promotions in china. their numbers will continue to be up and down for a few years due to different enlistments but exo has been around for a long time and are considered one of kpop’s greats. they have an awesome discography. their main 3 vocalists - Baekhyun, Chen, and D.O. - are widely considered the best vocal line in kpop. and their lead vocalists could pass as main vocalists in any other group. essentially they’re a total powerhouse. i hope this little bit of info helps! thank you for reacting! 😁😁

You need to know that EXO is the first group to apply the concept of super power in their group, as you know that Aespa is their junior in one agency. SM wants to apply the concept with a slightly broader story by connecting all the group concepts into the SM universe. In concept, EXO itself is an alien from Exoplanet. They consist of 12 members who have super powers. For now there are 9 EXO members, That is 1 Chinese and 8 Korean members
The concept for this is fighting your inner demons. Knowing that makes the lyrics make sense. There are two versions of each member. The good are wearing black uniforms and the bad are in color with the crazy hair and makeup. Sometimes you see the good and bad versions of a single person together in split screen or fighting against themselves. In the final scene it may seem that good prevails, but at the last second the inner demons take control and reach up and snap their own necks. Evil wins.
In Obsession MV it shows the fight between EXO and X-EXO(bad clones the Red Force made) in the end it shows that the planet cought fire which means that their evil side won All their MVs are connected, they have a super interesting concept
EXO is a Legendary Group. EXO is Versatile. They are a total package. You are missing a lot if you missed/skip all EXO Songs especially their main tracks from both albums & repackaged. :) Each MVs are connected and give you a story/plot since the beginning/their debut and tell about their superpowers, exoplanet, eclipses, and other celestial objects.

EXO actually have a concept that they are from EXO planet(EXO means outer) a planet out of our solar system(first group to have a concept with a parallel universe) each member has his own superpower and they are chased by the Red Force All their MVs(not lyrics) are connected and have to do with this concept but it’s too complicated,there are many theory videos on yt about it it’s very interesting
They’re the Vocal Kings and always gives that smooth R&B sound which I love so much. No one does it quite like EXO. I've been excited to see this reaction. What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light this represents the Red Force and when you see blue light this is thought to represent EXO, so when you see red and blue in one scene or purple light -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in"Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. okay first of all: exo are absolutely insane all rounders. some of the most talented individuals ive ever seen. i'll admit when obsession was released, i was a little hesitant, but it's definitely grown on me and i kind of love it now. i adore you guys as reactors and every once and awhile i will go back and rewatch some of your old videos/first reaction videos and its just as fun as it was the first time around :P second of all: i think you guys should definitely check ateez out! they're my absolute favorite group, and i think you guys would at least appreciate their visuals if not their music! their recent comeback was just last month where they released videos for "deja vu" and "eternal sunshine", but i also recommend "thanxx", and "wonderland", and pretty much all of their mvs. :)
