I think this is one of the best analyses of this song/video that I have seen. I love how you picked out the fact the the pictures of Ren on the train were true photographs compared with the animated Ren, and how he's trying to get back to the 'real' him but is just trapped on the train. That's pretty much how I understood it too, but I haven't seen anyone else say the same thing. I think we all get the 'trippy' look and sound of the song, but that's just the surface. Cool how you caught the tone change in the vocal just after the pill had been taken, too. This is one of my fave Ren tracks, which is hard to say because generally I love them all 😂

This song is called diazepam but the song applies to almost any drug.

I saw a doctor react to this song. She said that Diazepam actually changes the chemicals in you body if it is used for a long enough time. You body compensates for what it is receiving from Diazepam by producing a different amount of another chemical. The longer you use it, the bigger the change in that amount of chemical. She said that change means that quitting Diazepam cold turkey will kill you, because your body goes into shock and can't handle the chemical imbalance. So using Diazepam is a tightrope walk of using it enough to help, but not so much that it kills you.

Very true. Have been on/off for body pains many yrs. I only use when i have an extreme flair to get over that hump. No more than few weeks even if still in the flair

One of my favourite Ren songs. I love your reactions in general. Unflinchingly honest. This one was good - analytical to a point. And still honest. (I always think of this as a sister song to Chalk Outlines - mental health medication can numb you, and possibly create addiction)

Diazepam is very addictive and should be used temporarily only.The sounds in this song are very like the feeling when you take it. Really well done!It is Valium and was called mothers little helper in the 60’s.

One of the (many) things I didn’t pick up on was Ren being stuck on that train was an analogy to being addicted to Valium. Obvious, now you have pointed it out, of course. My excuse was that I was caught up in the dreamy, hypnotic music, and not really focusing on the subect. Thank you. xx

This is a very interesting subject. It's unbelievable how much prescribed medication an awful lot of people take in England for free or just a relatively small annual subscription. It's great having the NHS but I wonder if it is too easy sometimes. Don't know if levels differ in other countries with no NHS.

The bad thing about the insomnia meds (especially if the person can sleep without it) is it produces melatonin. The chemical that puts you to sleep. The problem with staying on melatonin is your body gets used to having melatonin and therefore stops producing it so when people get off the pills they cant sleep and become dependent on them

Also you can take the sleeping pill ls because you know you have to sleep but your afraid to sleep cause of nightmares or night terrors that tear at you qlmost every night. So you either self medicate or prescription medicate to force yourself to sleep.

@@geralynsteppe5974 Yes...I literally just came in from a jog (well a quick walk on my hilly trails) listening to that CD. Heard this song and said that is where I heard that line. My husband warns me from going out in our back woods with headphones on blasting Ren's music...because I could get attacked by a bear. We have a mom and 3 cubs running around but I have bear spray and other methods in my back pack just in case.
