Actually Jackson co-wrote Take It Easy with Glenn Frey when they lived in the same apartment complex and Glenn was always after him to finish writing it. So he gave it to Glenn to finish and they share writing credits and as they say the rest is history. Frey wrote the Winslow, Arizona verse.

Late for the Sky!! Yes. But one of my favorites is Sky Blue and Black. It’s astonishing.

Late For The Sky may be my favorite of his albums, although it's generally pretty depressing. The first song I heard from it, "Fountain Of Sorrow", may still be the one I like best, mainly for his clever wordplay but also because it's less dirge-like than most of the album. But "For A Dancer" is as fine an elegy for a departed friend/lover/family member as there is.

The entire Late for the Sky album is amazing. Such an important album in my life.

Yeah, sobering realizations, no doubt. I turn 63 in December. My older brother died 2 years ago. Parents are gone. A younger brother is now gone too. Life & time is far more precious than most realize. What opportunities we have we must cherish and be most grateful and respectful of. Or you’ll regrets and sorrows too hard to bear.

Caveat that as the great lyricist SINCE the 70’s. His accomplishments has not ever stopped.

Yes! Sky Blue & Black is incredible! It has the best definition of what true love is that I’ve ever come across.

The Deluge is an anthem.

Neil Young was also a noteworthy contributor, a sincere, stalwart friend, though not a blood relation, a true friend to native Americans through & through.

Guess we're all very different. I thought it was the weakest song on the album and imv is far from representative of Browne's work.

Vince, I am sorry for your losses. The words of this song do seem to "live" outside of the song, they are packed with meaningful metaphors.

And Browne did not publish his singing These Days for years! He gave it to Nico (Velvet Underground; and his girlfriend for awhile) who recorded it in 1967. Then the Allman Brothers sang it often live, with Greg Allman making some changes. Jackson hung out with the band and was friends with Greg. The Allman Brothers and Browne both released the song (on albums) within a short time of each other and Jackson sang and recorded Greg’s version. 1973! After Nico recorded it, it was recorded by other people and bands. After Browne and Allman Brothers recorded their versions, many more people and bands recorded it. For such a painful song of loss and regret, it’s hard to imagine a 16-year-old was capable of feeling that deeply and capturing it in such beautiful words. He’s one of my favorite songwriters: when I was your age, Daniel, and into my college years. Depressing, moving, all the elements that hit hard when you are young and growing and learning. He still sounds the same, he still sings. He posts on Instagram. And boy was he cute! He is still a handsome man. These Days is a classic. Daniel, you Must listen to it. Browne released it on his second album, For Everyman, which is incredible. Every song a gem. Please please please: even if you don’t react to it, please listen to that album. Trust me, you will love it, and you will love Browne.
