Yes, Tim Buckley was Jeff Buckley’s father. Both gifted with exquisite voices.

I've never heard this song before, somehow. The song and your reaction made cry like a baby from halfway through to the end. I fix motorcycles for a living. I haven't cried since 1998. Subscribed.

Must listen to Tim's song "Phantasmagoria in Two" from his live album from 1968. Truly one of the best recorded live albums of all time. The entire live album is great.

the story of the genesis of this song is sort of hilarious, and a testimony to how ridiculously talented TB was as the lyricist Larry Beckett tells it, he brought Tim the lyrics to this one morning and found him eating a bowl of cereal, having just woken up according to Beckett, Buckley read the lyrics as he finished the cereal, picked up his nearby Guild 12-string, and played and sang the song as if it had existed forever

Talk Talk, Nick Drake, and now Tim Buckley!! Are you reading my mind Daniel, as these three acts rank in my all time top five. You're on fire my man, and i truly appreciate it! :-)

TB is one of the most under the radar GREAT musicians of R&R music. He was truly a genius, putting out his first amazing album at the age of 19!! Made what, like 8 albums in 8 years. When I discovered him well after he was gone, I purchased every single recording ever released and listened to him only for at least two years. He is my all-time favorite musician and oddly his son's album GRACE is my all-time favorite album and 2nd favorite musician. Like anybody cares lol.

Beautiful song, which i first heard through This Mortal Coil's version with Elisabeth Fraser on vocals. So mystical, nobody, not even Tim Buckley, could ever top that interpretation for me.

I've heard this before - very soothing, distinctive melody and vocals. Tim Buckley released his third album on Frank Zappa's Straight Records label, and it has another great song, "I Must Have Been Born Blind", which has similar soothing feel to it.

I'm glad you are enjoying his work. I wasn't sure where you stood on being able to receive packages of late... so I've been holding on to this for a while, but I have a nice set of DVDs for you called The Troubadours. three DVDs one with Nick Drake one with Tim Buckley and one with Sandy Denny. I look forward to a day when you can spend some time with them... I'm sure you can find them on RU-vid but it's always nice to have the actual DVD to pop in and show friends and family. They are nicely produced documentary style with clips of music interspersed. will send soon. all the best!

The This Mortal Coil version is used very memorably in David Lynch's great underrated film LOST HIGHWAY. That recording actually inspired Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti's musical work in (BLUE VELVET and) TWIN PEAKS with the recently departed Julee Cruise. This seems like a clatter of trivial trivia but if you follow the rabbit hole you'll never be the same.

This Mortal Coil's cover is absolutely legendary, more for its atmosphere and Elizabeth Frazer's unique vocal style. Actually, I recommend Cocteau Twins, which was Frazer's band. 'Those Eyes, That Mouth' is a good intro to them, I think.

This isn't Tim's best version of Song to the Siren. This one is more staccato. The original release actually has more flow, more beauty to me. Tim was my 60s crush and I was lucky enough to see him a few times at The Troubadour. I cherish the memory of those shows even more than I do the Beatles' Hollywood Bowl shows. The sheer beauty of Tim's voice is something you never forget.

I know it's been already said, yes, he's the father of Jeff Buckley and you need to listen to This Mortal Coil's version. This Mortal Coil is a group of goth musicians that do a lot of great covers.

Helene here, Daniel. I’m so glad you reacted to my suggestion to listen to this song. It is indeed melancholy, as so much truly beautiful music is….or perhaps that’s just my Celtic soul, which is drawn to such music. And yes, to answer your question, Tim Buckley is the father of Jeff Buckley. They were estranged, but the genes sure ran true. I would definitely listen to This Mortal Coil cover of this song, or Sinaid O’Conners cover. Both accentuate the Innate Celtic feel of the tonal structure…….which makes me love it even more! 😏😁

Wow dude, Fred Neil. One of Tim's favorites and as I'm sure you know he covered Dolphins all of the time. "Everybody's Talking" is one of my favorite all time songs and it still bothers me that they didn't use Fred's version (it was his song) in the famous movie Midnight Cowboy.
