If you've ever considered high tech hunting camo (First Lite, Kuiu, Sitka, etc.), then you've certainly wondered if it's worth the price. I was skeptical for a long time, but after jumping headfirst into merino wool and First Lite...I could never go back! Let me show you how with a few carefully chosen layers you can stay comfortable (and odor free) in just about any conditions.

Awesome video.. I bought a few pieces for the 2021 season and I absolutely loved it. The Kiln quarter zip was probably my favorite piece. There’s a few pieces I want to pick up this year especially the wick hood! I also recommend the Klamath hoodie.. super warm!

I've heard really good things about the Klamath. There are actually a couple pieces I'm looking to add to the rotation before Spring Bear in Idaho, and I'm eyeballing that Klamath pretty closely!

I've heard good things about them from a number of people I trust...may just have to run a pair and see what happens.

How do they fit? Are they smaller or bigger or are you buying the size you always worn?

Ok ok silly question, where is that tshirt from!? Very cool! Side note, I’ve been a dedicated First Lite guy for a few years and yes I’ve also used Sitka, for me it’s the merino layers... incredible! I also must swear the obsidian pants have been life savers from hot to cold.

Not a silly question at all:) It's from Hunt to Eat...I think my wife found it on Remi Warren's site (the whole "Live wild, hunt hard" thing is kind of his slogan)

Great video! I use the huntsworth camo but I may have to try some first lite stuff too.

Thanks! Haven't tried the huntsworth stuff, but I'm always open to gear that works.

Heard your comment on hot spots , things I add to my kit is sewing needle with white thread , mole skin and thin polypropylene socks or sol style women's stoking. If you develop a blister tend it before it breaks open by running the thread thru it and leave the thread I it .This will allow it to continually drain leaving the skin as a protective cover. Once the thread is in it apply the mole skin with a hole cut out where the blister is . Prention is better the stocking or thin polypropylene socks against the skin with a sock layer over the stocking or polypropylene sock keeps the wear off the skin. Hopes this xan be of use to someone'.

Any experience with the Wick 1/4 zip compared to the wick hoody? I like the idea of the 1/4 zip to dump heat

the solitude system by first light do you recommend that ?

I've never personally worn it, but having read up on it and comparing it to the design/materials of my typical Western hunting kit, it looks like it would be perfect for some of those potentially cold sits waiting on a whitetail. In general, I've been amazed at First Lite's quality and customer service...can't go wrong with them!

If you were going to piece by piece this and did not have the $ to take the plunge all at once what would you start with?
@smithguy9109

For me I didn't buy all the different pieces. I only bought the puffy jacket and the guide pants. Then I will just wear whatever I want underneath depending on how cold. Sometimes long johns and sometimes just a short sleeve shirt is warm enough. I'm on the east coast

Depends on what season and where you’re hunting. Good wicking/heat retaining base layer and a good insulating laying is the most important imo. The uncompaghre jacket is fantastic, along with their merino layers

Great video! Very helpful because I'm from Germany and can't order the stuff that easily. I want to go to Wyoming next year on Spring Turkey (May/June). Would you recommend me the same clothes for it and which camo color? I'm a little overwhelmed by the offerings. I'll be traveling mostly in Montana, Wyoming and the Yellowstone area. Thanks!
