William Phillips Hey man, this is an awesome video! I’m in the military and will be stationed up there in a few months. Living in Alexandria. Any tips on where to hunt would be very appreciated! Thanks, and happy hunting!
William Phillips about how many times have you lost a deer due to a neighbor not allowing a recovery? Is there any laws against hunting so close to dwellings? In Michigan we must be 500 ft from any dwelling, regardless of weapon.
He has one if you search his name. But hasn't uploaded in years and only has like four videos. We all need to go on there and comment that he needs to make more content
This is one of the best hunting videos around. Great job First light. Taylor has great skills and a target rich environment to go after 100+ deer a year. Need more videos with him.
he shoots carbon...arrows can be used over and over. he is taking short shots from an elevated angle so arrows dont usually get lost. i have some shafts I have taken dozens of deer with, I`m sure this gentleman is the same. now my wood shafts I shoot usually get broke....
Chad Klaren why is that ? Worrying they could blow up leaving bow? Wondering because I have some that shot some Does off property last year end of season and I shot two of those other day one looking rough flew a little off but one good still! But wondering if it possible it could blow apart on me splinter in hand or some
@Tracy Weber Without predation deer multiply until there is not enough for them to eat in their habitat, and when that happens your deer friends slowly starve to death in winter. The large populations also create conflicts with humans in the form of auto accidents, destroying landscaping, and relying on eating farmed crops for food. Thanks to regulated hunting, and conservation efforts by hunters there are more deer in this country than there have ever been.
@Tracy Weber You have 200 deer in a habitat that only supports 100. All 200 starve through winter, many of them die or become so malnourished they miscarry and fail to reproduce, you now have 75 deer. You have 200 deer, and kill 100 of them, and the other 100 now have twice as much to eat, none die from lack of forage, most of them successfully reproduce and you now have 200 or more from does that were able to raise twins thanks to the extra forage.
@Tracy Weber Before hunting was regulated, humans killed deer any time of year whenever they needed meat, by 1930 there were only around 300,000 whitetail deer left. Regulation and conservation efforts since then have increased their population to more than 30 million. They went from endangered species in my state, to a population of almost 2 million. The real threat to the future of these animals is loss of habitat from human development. Habitat conservation is something that hunters spend way more on than the average person on. Our liscense and tags as well as a taxes on hunting equipment have contributed billions of dollars to ensure that these animals will always have habitat. Have you volunteered to improve habitat or donated any money to fund any sort wildlife conservation this year? Every licensed hunter in America did.
@Tracy Weber look it up, its 100% true. It's not JUST whitetail deer that are having such great success. Elk, thanks to the rocky mountain elk foundation are having a great comeback. Wild Turkey were on the edge of extinction until the national wild Turkey foundation stepped in and started managing them. Now there's a healthy enough population to support a hunting season in 49 states. Ducks Unlimited has purchased millions of acres of habitat specifically in the migration path of waterfowl (ducks, geese, etc). Every state in the US has a version of fish and game. 100% of the funding for maintaining and purchasing new habitat and managing the species comes from selling hunting and fishing tags and boat registrations. None of the funding comes from tax payers. Hunters also pay a special tax on firearms, ammo, bows, and hunting apparel that is earmarked for conservation (Pittman Robertson act). Your state and national parks are 100% funded from these fees (again 0 tax payer dollars pay for any of it). Even public places that dont allow hunting are still paid for by hunters. Google your state and public hunting map or wildlife management area, I think you'll be amazed and how many places you'll find
One of the coolest videos and story that I’ve seen in a while! I’m relatively new to hunting and urban hunting isn’t something I’ve really considered. Huge props to him!
Perfect. I love this! Great look into another hunters perspective. This is completely different than what I’ve grown up doing. He’s managed to be able to hunt where most hunters are afraid to go, and keeps it professional. You sir give hunters a better name in a place where it matters most! Thank you! Keep shooting straight!
It is absolutely incredible that you are able to get permission from these property owners. Every time I ask a property owner up here in coastal NH, even famers, it is always a resounding no. Sometimes they become incensed at the mere idea of me even being a hunter.
I hunt the suburbs of Upstate NY , Philadelphia, Ohio and Massachusetts nothing wrong with it at all ! In most cases I'm on call . No pressure from other ppl hunting it's peaceful see more deer more activity , bigger bucks and more bucks in most cases . I love suburban deer hunting it's the best .......Keep it up Brotha I'm with ya.
Been hunting behind houses for 12+ years in the suburbs of Minneapolis it's amazing seen lots of big bucks and harvested a few! It's a untapped area in many places
THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER! HEY...WHY NOT? THE DEER ARE THERE AND NEED MANAGED AND HUNTERS FOR THE HUNGRY IS AN AWESOME PLACE TO DONATE THE EXCESS VENISON!!
Very nicely done! Great content, great editing and of course.....great video! This guy is really living most bowhunters' dreams - to be able to hunt with so much frequency and just be outdoors. Amazing....plus the less fortunate get meat because of it!!! Would love to see more installments.
I hunt the 695 beltway properties...tons of deer...I have 3 kids a full time job , side jobs etc...there is often just enough time before sunset to sneak in to one of my urban spots to hunt...to me this is normal...So glad you made this video so I feel less ridiculed by those can afford time and money wise to go hunt the midwest for weeks at a time. GReat video!
Very very cool. I grew up in NJ hunting whitetail and the monsters were always in some development and not on the big 50-100 acres farms we hunted on. Always absolute slobs running around near downtown Princeton, NJ.
I live in Southern Maryland (Anne Arundel/Prince George's Counties)and am beginning to navigate this world of suburban/urban deer hunting. This is inspirational and exciting that I can build my client base/property access. Thanks.
Taylor man I love the videos! I started urban hunting this year with a new program we have in Arkansas. Have had great interactions and even convinced one lady to see hunters in a different way. She went from voting against the program to showing me a good place to set up next to her property. I love my backwoods adventures but really enjoying the urban experience.
That's awesome, man! Glad to hear it!! Once people see how effective and ethical it is, as well as the fact the meat is going to a good use, it's easy to be on board with!
Good video 👍 I have noticed from hunting a small similar setup that these deer are more aware of human activity than deer in bigger blocks of woods. Also much more likely to jump string. Thanks and good safe hunting
I have been saying for years if I could get paid to hunt white tail deer It would be the only career worth getting out of the Army for but I didn’t think it was possible.. this dude has life figured out folks.
Absolutely awesome. I hunt that way also. Im a landscaper who gets permission from clients and it grew from there. Im a crossbow guy and SC Lowcountry has tons of deer. My profile pic shows one.
We are loving it we are hunting in Paces Ferry exit on 285 North in Atlanta Georgia and Roswell Dunwoody one of the most expensive neighborhoods around Atlanta we've got a 14 pointer we're looking at this year and he is a pig I mean close to 300 pounds just outrageous
I know what it is to hunt a small property because I hunt my yard which is only two acres in rural Kentucky but love the videos and keep up the good work or feeding the hungry.
sweet video.. i do the same thing here where I live.. hunt 5 acres with neighbors in every direction... deer are very used to everybody's routine.. until the rut hits!
Seek one should take lessons from this man he is helping manage a population they say they are doing the same thing but it's obvious that they are trophy hunters imo
Great video. I live in suburban detroit and we have giant whitetails that are untouchable because of hunting regulations. I wish I could hunt outside of my house luke Tyler. That would be epic!
I do a lot of suburban hunting and it's amazing how close the deer are. We really have to learn a few different things from the deep woods guys although much of the same skills. I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
How I learned how to hunt! Started hunting in the suburbs of St. Louis on a couple small 5 acre lots. Soo many deer and no pressure. It was always nice when I could hear the kids down the street say “hey Dad, look a deer!” And I’d get ready for them to come in
I see a lot of deer by piney branch parkway all the time. The other day heading toward Georgia Ave there was a 9 point guaranteed to have a 24" spread if not more
Man you are so lucky to have a place in the city limits to hunt like that. Here in Fayetteville, Ark., we have deer all over the city. Deer body's laying on side of the road. They have been hit crossing from woodlots, by cars. Just a waste of deer. The city won't let bow hunters hunt in the city limits. Although there is acres of woodlots - un-inhabited. I wish you could give me some tips on what to do to get permission to hunt. E- mail me.
Tried to do this in my neighborhood in the Texas Hill Country. Got permissions from the entire neighborhood while at a POA meeting. Then called a game warden just to make extra, extra sure. I found out that it's illegal to discharge a bow on any property smaller than 10 acres by both county ordinance and state law.
I have woods behind my home and the woods is about 250 yards wide and if you go east it opens up into a few bigger fingers of woods. I slip in and out without anyone knowing. It's County property and it's open land, the hunting is legal, you must stay 150 feet from a home. I stay secretive because I don't know what some neighbors will say. It's great hunting. The deer really needed to be thinned out. I also have a power line to the right of my home which adds a bit more privacy for me to do my thing. Of course deer don't always cooperate after you shoot them and they can run off in a direction you'd rather not see them go so that plays into how and when you take the shot so you can up the percentage the deer will head in a favorable direction where it won't die on one of the neighbors lawn. It is fun, it's right behind my home, it's great action and there are some outstanding bucks.
If you drive around the beltway in the DMV you will see a dozen road kill deer on any given day, each one doing thousands of dollars worth of damage to vehicles and sometimes causing injuries to drivers or passengers in these vehicles.Keep up the good work.
Michael,Yes for sure. I used to belong to a management group that hunted the Falls road area almost exclusively. We took out many the first few years, and yet they still were thick in there. A couple of the guys still hunt there. I just got so busy with work and children, I couldn't devote the time.
Just awesome. You should come about an hour north to Howard County, MD. Elkridge and Ellicott City are over run with deer. Shoot me a reply if interested.
Stan Petrikis nice if you only sit for an hour or two. They get annoyingly uncomfortable pretty quickly. I still use mine when I only have a couple hours after work to hunt and I'm in a hurry. Otherwise, treestands are muchhhhh better. I only use my saddle when I have to. Do you watch hunting dvds/videos? I bet you never saw a hunter in a saddle. Maybe once. Maybe 1/1000. That's how great they are lol. It's only practical for a hunt like this guy is doing. Quick and tree hopping everyday
Jeff Ree thanks for the advise sounds like a lock on is a little better choice. I appreciate your time but never take advice from anyone who is getting paid or kickbacks telling you their products better. Pros are only good because of their outfitters are great.
Stan Petrikis true that. I'm a lock on guy myself. I'll put up a few on the property I hunt and move one around if need be. May I suggest a good set of climbing sticks. I use the lonewolf but there are a few similar. I'll hang all my stands and leave them in the tree by themselves and just carry in and set up my sticks every hunt. That way no one can get into my stands but me. The lonewolf sticks are very light and compact and easy to carry in and set up. Muddy makes a really nice cam lock stick also. So much easier then those bulky heavy stick ladders that you leave on the tree. Unless you know no one will come across your stands
I’m fairly new to hunting so I was wondering how you are able to harvest so many deer in one year? I’m from NJ and during the regular season it’s usually 2 antlerless and 1 antlered deer. Great video btw. I’m going to give my father in laws property a shot.
I live in Takoma Park, just above Silgo Creek, 8 pointers are like cabs, everywhere! I wish we could hunt around here. I have too drive to McKee Bashers. passing some record breaking deer in my backyard.
Any tips for getting started hunting in the DC area or just suburban area in general? I just relocated from North Carolina to DC and I have never hunted suburban land. I’m wanting to keep enjoying the sport. Thanks you’ve got some awesome videos.
People can laugh all they want That's what hunters are for is wildlife management That's what you're doing Good job keep up the good work as long as it's safe I don't see a problem with it
