FIRST LOOK - 1966 Shelby "Super Snake" 427 Cobra - BARRETT-JACKSON

Oh man I believe we will see the first 10 million dollar Cobra in March... What a beautiful car

One of the two greatest highlights of my life was being on stage for the historic sale of the Shelby Super Snake back in 2007 and meeting Mr. Shelby at the same time. My Mom happened to be watching the Speed Channel at the time and noticed me on stage. Needless to say, she grilled me quite hard once I got home from the auction. Asking me the typical who, what, when, where, how and why as parents so often do. I had to explain to her that my girlfriend has this BFF and it was her Father who worked directly with Craig that got me the free passes. He asked me as I admired his Jaguar E-Type that he was restoring if I had heard of Barrett-Jackson. Naturally I replied - "Who _hasn't_ heard of Barrett-Jackson!? It's only thee most prestigious car auction in The United States!" Apparently, that was the answer he wanted to hear all along and subsequently surprised me with free All-Access VIP Passes to the Auction. He did this several years in a row until my girl and I split up. Although, I heard he asked about me from time to time. I always wondered if he preferred that I was the one dating his daughter rather than his daughter's BFF. Oh to be young again my friends! It was also at this same Barrett-Jackson event where I was fortunate enough to scratch off a bucket list achievement after I got to meet and greet Mr. Carroll Shelby himself. Easily one of the top three firmest handshakes in my entire life and an absolute honor too! I wanted him to sign my Mustang but she was just a mere J-Code coupe and not a Shelby, so I did not ask. However, it was because of Mr. Shelby and his cars that coerced me to grow into the greaser I am today. While I may not have drove a Shelby Mustang in High School, I still had the fastest car in my school district and overall (11.71 @ 121mph in the 1/4 mile at Firebird Raceway). It has been twenty years and to this very day I still remain undefeated! I even held impromptu intramural drag races behind my school where we had over a full mile of straight roads. We invited everyone from _all_ the other school districts to partake. Soon people were jumping on the opportunity to take down this guy over at **** ****** High School in his 1968 Meadowlark Yellow Mustang. People called her _"The Killer Bee"_ because she also had a black vinyl top. Nobody succeeded. In fact, I even had some Dad's take up the challenge and they lost too. Albeit, a lot more graceful than the other students. Even my Automotive teachers were aware of what was occurring behind the school. They decided to play the "plausible deniability route" as I had suggested so they could avoid any reprimands. They also understood that I knew what I was doing and eventually gave me a key to the schools auto shop which was highly unorthodox at the time I will admit. Ah those were good times making unforgettable memories! Stay classy my friends. EDITED for grammar.

The Shelby Cobra has been my favorite car for most of my life. And now I know which one is my favorite. SUPER SNAKE!!!!!

I watched it sell in 2007 I watched it sell last time in 2015 and there is nothing that will keep me from watching the greatest accomplishment of automotive engineering by a true LEGEND drive up onto that block and become the greatest car ever built to it's new owner.

I saw this car at Shelby's facilities in Las Vegas. Took a bunch of photos of it. There will never be another Carroll Shelby, and there will never be a more creative automotive pairing than Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles.

Oddly, the replica enthusiasts rarely build Supersnakes. Most do the 427 S/C with the "standard" sized hood scoop.

That is quite possibly the sexiest thing i have ever seen! An automotive masterpiece that deserves to be preserved for eternity.

I'm hoping the car brings $10 to $15 million! Definitely worth it. While there are several (not to be confused with many) significant Cobras, in my opinion the original Cobra and this car are the two MOST significant cars. This car is the ultimate configuration of the S/C, regardless of the automatic. A guy here in my Ohio town has a higher end glass replica with a daul quad 427 Side Oiler buit by Ohio George Montgomery. Ive riden it it a few times and it's a rocket ship so I can only imagine the real thing, this thing, with double huffage would be like!

I got my Cobra in my early 20’s. My dream car, spent my inheritance wisely until my ex wife made me sell it in the early 90’s. Biggest regret of my life, I loved my beast. I’ll get another one soon 🤞🤞

I just want to hear it. To see it. Being 66 and from the "Motor City"..I have lived and breathed cars- GOOD cars- as far back as I can remember. A Shelby, any Shelby really, has always been a head turner. I wish the new owner just drives it once like he/ she stole it. !!

It will be interesting to see what it sells for on the third go around. The last time it went to auction in 2015, it sold for $5.1 million.

I'd also like to say that that you should contact Auto World slot cars & model cars, Scalextric and Carerra slot cars to have various size & scale layouts for the men, women, children and families to see and experience. The car hobby in general seems to be doing well but we need the kids to come up imto it the right way and small cars are the first cars we ALL had to get us started. It's a genius idea. Last month I was on the phone with Shelby American getting my car finalized when the sales manager started talking to somebody and said "March 24th? We'll be at Barret-Jackson." - I guess now I know why.
