First look at the AzurPoly North American OV-10 Bronco in Microsoft Flight Simulator

There is a book written by a Forward Air Controller (FAC) who flew the Bronco in Vietnam called “A Lonely Kind of War.” It’s an excellent story about flying the Bronco as well as the job they did as FACs.

You’re actually flying my grandfathers plane! Azurpoly even put his name on the side (Capt Bennett). The rear seater was a fire adjustment officer. The pilot would call in artillery and air strikes and the rear seater would call in artillery and naval gunfire. The guns were M60s that fired 7.62x51.

I ended my Twitch stream by trying this out. I did Marine Corps livery, and took off from Hanoi. Only thing missing was Creedence Clearwater Revival.

There was also an internal layout that allowed for dropping of parachutists. IIRC there was room for 6, but the weapons pylons had to be empty due to the weight of the paratroops. The rear fuselage had side opening clamshell doors for that purpose.

Looks great. Only issue I can see is I'd like the shading/blurring on the edges of the window glass to be a bit narrower, it looks a bit distracting to me.

Wow, an absolutely beautiful looking plane. thanks so much for all the reviews you do for us. Will be buying this for sure. I spend 6 months doing race sims and the other 6 doing flight sims, i alternate between the two too avoid getting to bored. The latter is coming up fast. I have a lot to go over. I just hope MFS will play nice after the long lay off.

Neat aircraft for sure. I just feel like it wasn’t ready for release.

I’m having trouble with the throttles on my V1flight stick. They won’t go all the way forward, and the EFB is confusing. I can get reverse thrust but I can’t get more than flight idle. Any help would be appreciated.

Too bad they messed up the markings on that one. The star and bars are upside down on the wings, and the bars are too long. Is it that hard to do the research?

Jonathan would it be possible to get your MSFS settings for the engine management...I cannot seem to get the OV10 to reverse....

does it not recognize honeycomb bravo inputs? I have my twin prop settings active and it won't read my condition levers, but they work on the settings menu.

I would like to ask youwhich type of head tracker you use, or is it a. Eye tracker ? I am gathering info because I plan to build a pc for running msfs..😊

Prop version/ precursor to the A10?

I like it a lot but unfortunately the experience in VR isn’t what I was hoping for. Because of the weathering, the panel looks fuzzy in VR and the labels are hard to read. Further, moving around the viewpoint is difficult to do (the translate viewpoint isn’t implemented)

How does it compare to a free variant of this aircraft? I would use the link, but RU-vid deleted my first comment or did not post my comment because of the link to the most used web for free downloads (let put it that way).

Have you noticed any stuttering with this? I watched another review that mentioned stuttering.

That aircraft isn't even new. The paint is chipped away in places and worn through to shiny bare aluminum in others. You was ripped off! 😉

What an informative and fun video. Praises for this aircraft in MSFS are plastered all over RU-vid. I'd like to mention one by Russ Barlow, a longtime pilot and sim enthusiast, who actually flew the Bronco early in his military career. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nG8sq0LYxZY.html He tells how he groaned when first told he was flying one, but later thought it was the most fun he'd ever had. He and some buddies, I believe, were in on the beta and evaluation stage of development of the sim aircraft. Check it out. His video and yours have convinced me it is well worth purchasing. Thanks for the effort.

afaik orbx and simmarket release process some faster than market place in msfs.... so it's hard to understand, why her first appear on market place. what the point? hope tomorrow see her in orbx... some time i just don't understand people, probably i shouldn't

I take it you’re using this on a PC? I’ve just purchased it for the XBox, being a fan of the Bronco. It was just shy of £25(!) and my first impressions differ from yours. Okay, visually, it’s stunning! It really does look great, but, beyond that, it’s disappointing. First annoyance: The springy, bouncy “AP” toy that’s stuck on top of the instrument panel! The type you’ll see on the dashboard of a chav’s car! There may well be an option to switch this off/remove it, but I’m stuffed if I can find it! Second annoyance: The EFB position. Yeah, you can move it, but there doesn’t appear to be an option to remove it completely. Final, and main, annoyance: It handles like a turd in a bathtub! Even with YD engaged, it wallows about like a spoilt teenager whose mummy has dared to say “No, you can’t have another £25 to spaff away on a Flightsim download!” (I’m far beyond those years now, just to be clear). Okay, I’ve owned this for about an hour and a half, so I hope there are some settings that I’ve overlooked, and that it’ll all come good in the end……but I’m not holding my breath. (It may well be an XBox thing - I just haven’t the room for a gaming PC, right now)

Does it come in black? I'd love to see that.

I'll be honest, I'm not super impressed with this one. Maybe because I'm just more a fan of GA.
