First Look At The HDZero Race 2 Shark Byte VTX! 

thanks! I've done a bunch of racing with the long boy race VTXs. If it fits in your build there is literally nothing wrong with it. they have performed great for me.

Carl announced the 1W VTX should be available in a few weeks, so that's not too far off. Just understand that the VTX will have to be quite a bit bigger to power 1W and that 1W will give you roughly 2x the range/penetration of these 200mw transmitters. So if you can fit the larger VTX, and a doubling in performance is what you need, they should have you covered. Most freestyle should be fine at 200mw, but yeah, it can be tough to beat DJI for pure freestyle pilots.

no, latency/stuttering will be the same across all cams. I have noticed a difference between different goggles though. How bad is the stuttering? For me it happens maybe once every 20 batteries or so, and generally only lasts for 5 seconds or so. It's basically an hdmi sync issue between the VRX and the goggles, and is one of the primary issues they are addressing with the hdzero goggles. But yeah, if you are seeing worse than what I describe perhaps there is an extra issue with your specific goggles?

@@JohnEFly Its bad.. almost unflyable, I was able to explore a little but disconnected the unit after 2 days of tinkering/3 flights. I don't have any other goggles to test (running the v1 Orqas). Now that I think about it, it felt the same trying to run sims through the hdmi out :/

Of course it wasn't wrong, dji is still the way to go if u want the best image possible and it's fine for light racing/freestyle + penetration is unbeatable. And yes caddx told us months ago they're working on canvas mode, dunno tho when it arrives 🤷‍♀️

@@fen1x591 Sorry but the best image is not on dji anymore. With the new cam it is clearly shark byte that has the better image. On dji the image is only good on certain areas of the picture and on HDZero the whole picture is sharp and detailed

DJI is an incredible piece of technology. It's hard to ever say buying it is a mistake. However, it's possible that depending on what you want to do shark byte could be better. Personally, if someone is primarily interested in racing, I think shark byte is a far better solution. The biggest reason why is it plays nicely with others. It works perfectly with existing timing systems. It won't interfere with any other pilots video feeds. You don't have to worry about it powering up on the wrong channel when you first plug in. But if you're cruising, or freestyling, or exploring where you need ultimate penetration, DJI is really really hard to beat. So personally I have both, but at the track I find myself reaching for shark byte.

@@kingofjesters23 You see I'm not a fanboy of either system (clearly you are) but if you think that hdzero's image quality is anywhere near close to dji's than something must be really wrong on ur side pal, it's of best interest so that someone will get close to dji's level of image, but this is just not it

@@kingofjesters23The "best" picture is what you can expect for your purpose. At a distance of 2-3 km in the mountains, you are glad that you get a picture at all. Does the sharkbyte even get that far? With DJI, my buddy reached a distance of over 5km on a mountain at an altitude of 2000 meters ... With perfect quality and 25mbit

@@JohnEFly I updated my comment to add another frustration but yes i think thats it... i struggled like hell to get a txt file on an sd card with a mac last time i had to unlock my DJI goggles... I guess I just suck at computers
