This is a very rough first look at the Blazar Remus Anamorphics 1.5x PL mount Amber flare.
This isn't really a review, it's just to give people who are still waiting on their set something to look at while they wait.

Thanks for posting this. It's actually a pretty darn good review because it shows in real time the adjustments you're making to the camera movements to keep at or beyond the minimum focal depth, and how things look when you're getting the exposure dialled in. That all tells me a lot about the lenses, including how easy, or not, they are to work with. It's exactly the sort of stuff you don't see in reviews, because they only want you to see the finished 'beauty shots'!

The 65mm looks amazing. It's the first cheap anamorphic lens that looks like cinema to me. Thanks to sharing

I actually like these kind of lens reviews because you get mich more of a feel of what the lens looks like and what you'll get out of it if you compare m to regular reviews where you get the best of shots

To be honest that's one of the best reviews I've seen!! Are you generally happy with the lenses now that some time has passed? Thanks for the video - loved it.

Thanks very much. Everyone says the same thing. I work for Sigma filming their 'proper' lens reviews, but honestly, I think I might suggest this approach, people seem to like it! And yes, I do love these lenses.

Damn great test. Better to see how the lenses actually work than most other examples in youtube. The amber flare is actually pleasant instead of in your face sci-fi.

It's just shocking how cinematic the footage there without making much effort. This really is the way to go vs artificial like dehancer, which is still a brilliant plugin.

Thanks for making this! I really like the 65 but I'm on super35 so 45mm is what I'm starting with. The Amber flares looks great. I opted for blue flares even which wasn't an easy thing to do 😂

I enjoy your review a lot. It validates earlier reviews from beta users using the pre-production lenses. Much appreciate your efforts. Very helpful. Excellent job! Questions 1. Which gimbal / lidar did you use? DJI Ronin 3 Pro + DJI Lidar? PD Live Air 3 lidar? 2. If you zoom in on the image quality for 45/65/100mm, do you consider 45 and 65mm sharp and near clinically sharp? (it's hard to determine from the video on youtube) 3. I did not see too many oval or triangular bokeh shapes (I probably miss them). From earlier reviews, they show triangular or hexagonal bokeh shapes on the sides and oval shapes in the middle? how do you find the bokeh shapes for each lens. 4. flares characteristics. I notice primary but not secondary flares. and stopping down the aperture seems to dampen the flares. is it true, or I misread them. 5. any new findings that may be slightly different from earlier reviews? Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words. 1: DJI RS3 pro and dji lidar rangefinder RS. 2: I haven’t really pixel peeped, but I’d say the 45 and 65 seem fine wide open for this type of lens, the 100 has questions marks wide open. I should have done some stuff at f4 but I forgot. If you look at the branches when I stop down to f20 for the flare you can see the sharpen up, so the 100 can be sharp stopped down. 3: I haven’t seen any odd shaped bokeh at the edges in my tests, but then I have been out shooting fairy lights in the dark. 4: not much secondly flare like you said. I didn’t notice the flares dampen when I stop down, but I did think the streak got sharper stopped down. 5: I don’t think I’ve really seen much that I wasn’t expecting from the reviews. They aren’t perfect, but my budget and the type of work I do doesn’t justify the cost of a more expensive set. Untill there’s were announced I was looking at the Sirui Venus range, but I think they are way more clinical looking than these. Currently I don’t even really have a need for these lenses, but I got them because I want to try and move into more cinematic work and I thought a set of anamorphics would help me stand out from the spherical crowed.

I want a banana after that!!! This look pretty good Chris. Looks pretty balanced. Right about orange flare it's essential (star-burst look pretty good) although I'm definitely getting a blue flare too because I shoot a lot of night time scenes. I also like the softness. Really useful, thanks again. I live in London, but currently in Ethiopia this made me homesick.

I’ve used it on 2 sets of lenses now. The first set were sigma Cine primes. It literally didn’t work at all with those lenses. Firstly, the sigmas aren’t in the pre calibrated DJI list of lenses, so have to go through a manual calibration process. The next issue was that once I had them calibrated, they kept not focusing correctly at curtain distances. I found out it was because the Sigma lenses don’t have a constant focus throw. Their sensitivity changes as you focus from close to far, and as the sensitivity alters, that’s something the calibration process can’t factor in and the focus wonders. So if the lenses you plan to use aren’t on the DJI list, or if the focus throw isn’t constant, don’t bother. These lenses are on the the DJI list, so they don’t need calibrating and they work perfectly. I’m actually very impressed with how the system works. So if the lenses you plan to use are on the DJI list, it’s a great system.
