In this beginner tutorial video, I show you step-by-step how to take an amazing space photo of the Orion Nebula using ONLY a cheap DSLR and a tripod (NO TELESCOPE OR STAR TRACKER NEEDED)! Everything you need to know (planning - photographing - processing) an astrophoto like the one in the thumbnail is in this video, including tutorials for both Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop. This video is perfect for anyone wanting to learn astrophotography and take photos of space, even from the front yard, and is a great beginner's intro to this amazing hobby. Be sure to subscribe for more STARt to Finish tutorials like this, and other videos all things astrophotography.

I just started this journey but this video IS THE BEST on RU-vid! In the last 3 weeks I saw hundreds of tutorials but this is the simples and clearest one! Thank you so much!!

Wow, that is so so encouraging to hear, and I'm so glad you've found it helpful starting Astrophotography!! That's exactly why I made it, and it really means so much to hear that it is helping others get involved! I made another tutorial very similar to this one, but on Rho Ophiuchi, and I hope to make more in the future. Thank you again!

I was worried whether the good old camera would be good enough for dipping my toes in, and have been browsing the web for tutorials for a while. This IS the best one by a large margin... Many a thanks, it gave me enough confidence to plan for some sleepless nights under the starry sky in the near future! 🥰

Something I learned recently as I was getting into this. I didnt have an Intervalometer, but I did have a basic shutter remote trigger. You can set your camera to shoot 'continuous' and set your 'exposure' length to whatever your value needs to be. When all set, move the remote trigger to 'lock' and it will shoot continuous.
@theheavensdeclareastro
@theheavensdeclareastro 2 года назад
Oh, very cool! I did not know that--thanks for sharing!
@dedclownsRfunny
@dedclownsRfunny Год назад
But won’t the earth rotate meaning a continuous shot will leave trails?
@mattb5222
@mattb5222 Год назад
@@dedclownsRfunny no, because the shutter still opens and closes to take those photos, you will still need to adjust your camera every 20-30 shots (depending on your exposure length) to keep everything centered! The only issues you may encounter with continuous shooting is some camera shake due to the shutter opening and closing which is why its recommended to try using a timer or intervalometer to let your camera 'settle' to reduce some of the shaking, movement, etc.

I just came back after a year to say my thanks to you. I started this hobby in November of 2022 and oh boy it's been a long journey. I owe it to this video of inspiring me and showing me how easy it is to take photos of Orion, and what this hobby and the quality of my images have snowballed into would make my past self extremely proud. Thanks again for making such an easy to follow and fantastic guide. You deserve more subscribers.
