I must say from the specs of all the new EUC's, I am soooo happy I bought my Sherman for 2800 when it came out. Looks like many of the new EUC's are just playing catch up compared to the Sherman, so I will be getting a lot of bang for my buck for years to come still.
Proof to Begode that you don’t need silicone goop slopped all over the motherboard to keep wires in place! Abrams build quality at least in this regard much appreciated 🙏🏼
Definitely a huge improvement over plastic wrapped batteries and that tubeless tire has zero wobble! I really want to see how hot it gets during hard climbing compared to other wheels.
I'm waiting for my Abrams, hopefully will get it sometime next week, I guess I'll pack that connector with dielectric grease and cover it with heat shrink should be good enough to ride through big puddles i believe
@3:00 when you lifted the shell and were struggling to turn it over I was thinking "is he really that weak?" 😅... then you turn it over and it has batteries built into it... PROPERLY built into it... WOW, I'm impressed veteran, your wheel no longer looks like a Gotway inside!!! However... the outside of shell has a silly design that will make it harder to keep power pads in place and its big "off road" writing that makes no sense for a non-suspension wheel. But it does look pretty cool 😄.
Hi U-Stride, sorry little late reply been very busy working away. First impression looks big, then once its all build it looks and feels quality. Simple in design and riding at first push off you can feel the size and weight. But once on it, it feel a lot lighter and surprisingly easy to control. Breaking is great especially with the roll cage which you can grap on to.The motor sounds like a sport car or a tiger growling. The width on top of wheel is wider but i am use to riding wider wheel no problem for me. This wheel will be much better for taller rider like your yourself. I seen all your great video and how you ride. You know when you ride your wheel some of the video clips it looks like you are riding a small wheel. You know what i mean right. I think With a 22" wheel under you it will look perfect for your height. Let me know if i wrong, have a good one..
Wheel looks well built. Im impressed. This is on the buy list. May just beat the EXN as my fav wheel at the moment. Im 6ft so this hieght is no issue for me, i just hope it handles well around corners. Tyre looks slightly thinner than expected but that may just be about overall shape of the unit plus wheel is 22"which means that top end will be higher than the Sherman. This wheel may ride like a BEAST.
Thanks a lot for the breakdown video. I guess you received among the very first manufactured wheel ? I doubt the mass produced Abrams will have such low amp chargers when the Sherman had 5 amp or that they will ship xt90 plugs that aren't rated to resist water if they say it got very high water resistance.

I got myself the Abram now. Been riding it and i can confirm the range is the same as the Sherman. I think its because of the wheel diameter is bigger and give you more range.

Looks good the plug issue can be solved with alittle waterproof adhesive, good build obviously, less battery power is a Bummer, has the same signature Veteran qualities....it may be abit large for me though at 5'5" the orginal Veteran is a good fit for me. Although you always want to comparision shop for a future wheel...at the moment the V-12 seems to be a better fit for my height but I'm still waiting for all the reviews to come in on it. It looks large even for you although you seem to handel it well the abrams is up past your knees whilst your in an almost full standing position, add to that the thinkness to the top end perhaps abit too croochy for me...Thank you for the video.

It seems so far thermal management might have been an afterthought on the Commander, hopefully this is not the case with the Abrams.?. 🙏🏼 I wish more R&D was done by certain EUC manufacturers themselves rather than on their/us customers that is unless we get compensated somehow for this burden, but I don’t anticipate a drop in unit prices anytime soon even if we’re cash paying guinea pig customer hybrids. 🙏🏼
Could do with a corrosion treatment (like underseal and judicious screw and parts replacements). Those frames can easily be powdercoated to mitigate this failure mode. There's a money spinner! Even an industrial aluminum primer with epoxy top coat would do. Go cheaper with zinc primer. I bet ppl wont pay the cost of it though. Use international paints, this is an industry leading manufacturer avaliable in the UK. We use their paint systems on everything, frames inside water towers, high temp boilers and chemical reactors. All materials from titanium and GRP/FRP to carbon steel. What did the design engineers make the main failure mode? I doubt it would be the frame. Material thickness doesn't look bad. Just the paint DFT looks rubbish. A uniform coating of rust will protect the metal anyway. What are the welds like? Mild steel can normally rust alot before mechanical integrity is compromised.
This is the one i’ve been waiting to view and get your thoughts during and after testing. You mentioned the rusting of the steal covering/supporting the lower motor casting, what would you recommend if anything for prevention. ie treatment? It looks the bollocks. Hopefully much easier seated riding. Whether my back with support lifting the sucker is another thing. You mentioned how nimble it is, does that equate to the weight whilst riding is not an issue. I expect it wouldn't be that hard to just wrap that plug with some electrical tape for extra security. You could probably even do some xLarge shrinkwrap.
Received mine today and of course it was damaged in shipping (thanks FedEx), my rear frame above the mudguard is bent down and touching the tire, I'm trying to see in the video at what I'm looking at to replace that rear section of the frame. I'm hoping the frame isn't one piece for ease of repair.

Hi I am 5' 7" and i found this wheel is good for riders 5' 9" and up. We did a demo day on Saturday and most rider love this wheel are taller than me. Riders with my high does have a bit of problem controling it. I think in time one can get use to it with the size and weight. It is a 45KG wheel.

Great video, appreciate your engineering no how 👍 Since I learned to ride my 18 xl I always thought an euc should only cut out leading to rider faceplant if the battery, motor/controller or wiring failed. Can you or anyone tell me why euc manufacturers allow their wheels to cut out if it over heats, over speeds, over torqued etc... In all of those situations the rider should not faceplant 🤯 At most he or she should just lose forward acceleration, leaving them with self balancing and brakes until the crises moment is over.... From before 2018 manufacturers have been putting sensors on euc to measure all of the above, they trigger the beeps and tilt backs when you get close to the limit.... Why the F...... haven't they done anything these all these cut outs? in a lot of cases beeps are not enough... the days of cutting out because you were on the limit and hit a bump should be old news .... With my limited knowledge, I have afew ideas how I'd go about achieving that.. how would you do it? 🤔
Cutout happens when the amp draw exceeds what the batteries can produce. Because the load on the motor can be very sudden in some riding manouvers the speed that cutout happrns can vary immensely. It is actually very difficult to create a circuit that can provide maximum performance for riders of all sizes in all riiding conditions at all times and battery state of charge without being very restrictive. The only real method to be safe is to respect the beeps which are telling you you are close to the limit. There’s no way to create a failproof system whrn tge circuit has to propel uou forward and balance you front to back at the same time.
Hi Kevin. Do you have a old sherman tyre? from 60mm by 375mm rim. Any chance you could Cut tyre in half with hack saw and send me photo please? Cross section accross tyre. Nobbly tyre if possible. Thank you for any help.
“Why is that clip still plastic? If anything happens to the handle, the clip will snap” Maybe that’s the reason. They know the handle is vulnerable so they want it to break away rather than damage the internal frame.
I had Sherman falling down with handle up leaning against the wall and that breaks the plastic clip inside.The handle will bend a little bit but can be straightened.
@@eucupgrades thanks. I ended up getting the commander hs since more battery/distance is always a win in my book. I do envy the finished look of the Abrams though. I hope I can/or you do a mod that would help the cooling problem of the commander...I own a mpro24 so I know cutting a hole for more air flow would generally solve this issue...why won't they put a decent heat sink!!!!???? Lol
Hi Kevin! I am very late to this party, but as an Abrams owner (about 1200 miles on the clock) I appreciate this video a lot. This wheel is an underappreciated gem, IMO. That said, do you have the exact process and component for the capacitor upgrade? I live in the US and cannot find anyone here doing this mod, so I may have to do it myself. Thanks! edit: I do have a component-level electronics degree and background from about 20 years ago.
Hi Sammysoko424 , it is an easy upgrade by adding the same value capacitors in parallel. Just need to have steady hands and soldering skill and soldeer the caps on correctly and make sure you discharge all the caps first. Also needs to secure down the caps so it doesn't move.

I never noticed it before, but I only recently moved to a place where I have to go up steps to get in the front door. Is that normal at all?

Hmmh, the board technique looks „old“ …its ok to have all on one board….but what afraids me is especially the point that the motor cables are soldered onot the board. Veteran did promise mor torque (which i doubt with this battery setup and the big tire) …but even if its has more…that would mean much more amps would run through this poorly sold on wires. Other than that the construction looks robust…but a bit to heavy
Looks like lots of failure modes built into this. Haven't looked at any teardowns of the Sherman but I hear it is better (or the design engs had less expereince with it). The design engineers are reducing the life of these EUCs considerably. Also they are putting specific parts first on the failure list. Watch out for the parts that fail. Normally design engs. target primary failure toward the easiest parts to replace. Then the company will sell these cheap parts with a high margin. Overpriced consistently failing parts. Worth watching.
I thought this was 90lbs but hotdang, it's 99lbs! Insane. I don't get how they'd put offroad on the sides. I think I'm gonna get a Sur ron instead. 95kph freespin isn't that impressive. My EXN goes 104kph by comparo. We'll see how it goes real world & if its the 'offroad' machine it claims.
