Today marks the launch of the brand new Nukeproof Giga, a super enduro bike that is offered in both 27.5" and 29er wheel sizes. Available in carbon only, we take a look at the 180mm Giga 275 Comp, is it bigger and better than the Mega enduro bike? Do you need more? Our Rach aims to answer when she reviews this bike, here's a first look at what is in store.

My dads friend has this exact bike the same colour and everything and I have to say it truly is an AMAZING bike its got amazing suspension and just in general its a really good bike!

On the one hand, considering how good the current Mega is, this really doesn't seem needed. On the other hand, it looks awesome; if you were torn between the versatility of the Mega and the capability of the Dissent, I think you've found your new bike (especially if you swapped out the 180mm Zeb for a 190mm Boxxer) I am, however, a little disappointed by the Comp specifications. Nukeproof's Comp spec (Deore groupset, "value" fork, Super Deluxe Select R shock) is a good budget spec for their affordable alloy frames, but considering the extra cost of the carbon frame, specifying at least the Select+ shock (which includes a lockout) would have been appreciated. The fork damper and drivetrain components can all be upgraded later, but if you want a lockout you need a whole new shock.

Yes, it's a bit of a mind bender, right? I suppose all choice is good for us/you as consumers! Will have to see how the spec stands up in testing...

@@offroadcc Yeah, I was quite impressed by the Mega Comp you recently reviewed, and even then I wished it had a Select+ rear shock, but at least you said the pedalling platform was good enough not to need it. Even if that's still the case here (although I'd be shocked if it's equally good considering its single pivot), a £3.7K bike with base model parts isn't cool. I think I can safely say that while the Giga 290 Factory just replaced the Mega 290 Factory as my dream bike, I'd still pick the Mega 290 Comp over the equivalent Giga if I'm on any kind of budget.

@@gpearce11 There's certainly lots to think about here. Shame that we haven't still got the Mega to ride back to back with the Giga and really work out what the positives/negatives are and who each bike might be nest suited to. Luckily I only rode the Mega in December so I will try my best to draw some conclusions in the review of this bike!

If you buy a 275 mega, are the wheels and tyres interchangeable, ie to convert it from 275 to 290?

Hi Andy, unfortunately not as the chainstay is 5mm shorter on the 275 and it'll come with a 27.5" specific fork so 29" wheels simply wouldn't fit. In theory you could put 27.5" wheels in the 290 model but that'll negatively affect the geometry. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching.

Loved the preview on this beast Rachel looking forward to your first ride and thoughts on this model any idea when that will go up? Do you think personally this model is a big step down from the elite?? Great vid by the way keep up the awesome work!

Hey, Thanks for watching! Funny you should ask, I'm finding the basic Zeb's very.... basic! I have a set of Fox 38 Performance Elite's that come on the Elite Giga, on my own bike and they are better than the Zebs on this Comp. If you can stretch another £900 for the Elite, I think you will find the quality of damping worth it. That said, the Zebs could be upgraded with new internals once you have the Comp......

@@offroadcc ah right I see your not the only one who's said that from what I read about them. Or mabe it was your reveiw of the mega a few months ago where you mentioned the stock damping wasn't all that. OK so is there much difference in the performance elite shocks and to top of the range kashima coated top of the range giga? Or are you just paying for the fact its got the coating on? Or do they perform better? Obviously your also paying for upgraded gears set and brakes but is that worth the extra from the elite model or do you think that's the model to shoot for regarding spec vs price so to speak? Thanks so much for all your help by the way. I've not used fox as yet so its helpful to ask someone in the know!

@@offroadcc if only this bike have come out when i was still in the market for a new bike, i would definitely get this. It got all the tics that i want for a bike. but would take ages to arrive from where i am.

Torn between the mega and the giga. leaning towards the giga only cause a carbon frame comes cheaper in the giga vs mega. Why is that? The mega is more than enough for me but why is an entree level carbon giga offered cheaper than the carbon mega?

That’s exactly why I went for the giga comp in the end, absolutely love it tbh, and it really doesn’t feel like a 180mm beast. Just as happy throwing it around as my other bike

Looks nice but kind of limbo land as the Mega is so capable. Also the the Top Fox Build is the same price or thereabouts as a Geometron G1 and between the two the G1 is in a different league!!

Hmm, that's a comparison we didn't think of..... interesting stuff with bigger brands dishing out geometry like this now.
