This has been something I’ve been hoping someone would do for awhile now. I don’t think it’s often that people really get to hear the true thoughts on a bike from a pro who isn’t sponsored by them. Looking forward to more
Hi Lewis. Enjoyed your video. I think anyone who can ride like you may also look outside of just products and look also at riding techniques, your lines are amazing. You made it really clear that you want to listen, I think your channel will do brilliantly! Thanks for posting.
I would find it interesting if you would compare the Push Elevensix damper with the DVO damper, because the Push damper is specifically tuned for this bike and is one of the most expensive shocks on the market.
@@ApostolosK06 it is not hard, if dvo forces him to say stuff everybody will just know it's bs, there's nothing wrong on a boutique, custom nieche shock to ride better than a waaay cheaper one
@@justind5262 for sure Although Push have a way higher quality materials, tolerances, build, 2 separated compression circuits with HSC/LSC so it’s like having 2 shocks in once, HBO, so it’s not the same thing obviously
Cool video Lewis. I'd love to see you try out a Vitus Sommet someday. I have both E version, and non E and absolutely love the sommet and how it feels. But would love to see how they compare to other enduro bikes on the market. 🤙🏻
Hey Lewis! Keep these videos coming. I just wanted to note that the 200mm fork would likely change the stock geo of the bike (assuming a longer axle to crown, potentially a different offset). It would be nice to hear a bit more analysis on what that would do to the ride (does the front wander at all with the longer front centre?).
Really like this style of video. When you've seen one rider riding his/hers bike video you've seen them all. This is a different take which i enjoy. Nice one.
Hey, love these unbiased reviews, can I pick your noodle? Would you say this with a dual crown replaces a downhill bike? I have a mega which I love and keeping but I’m either thinking of getting a dissent or Giga with duel crown as well? Starting to hit bigger nastier stuff and not as skilled as you so the off bad landing is likely lol
Great channel and congratulations on the studio upgrades. U need to change the white balance (its too blue, needs to warm up) and if possible, more room behind you and the back wall. Love the content !
Love this idea of trying different bikes and giving your honest opinions about the bike that’s not driven by sponsors. Look forward to seeing what other bikes you try On a side note. Between the giga and the forbidden dread naught what would you choose for north shore riding in bc? I’m a fairly good rider, at least by weekend warrior standards lol, I like to go on the fast side but like big jumps and rocky landings. Kinda like the gap at 50cent drop or 5th on cypress. What would you recommend?
Honestly the dreadnaught for me felt way to long and sluggish. Just my opinion, but the giga is more playful but can still do the gnar as it has decent travel!
@@LewisBuchanan thanks for the info. That’s what I’ve seen on some reviews. I like popping off of things and jibbing around. Sounds like the giga is more what I want. Althought I love the look of the dreadnaught just probably more of a race bike I guess
I ride a commencal meta sx, some good deals on them frames at minute. Would be interesting to see your take on them :). Good luck with your content this year.
Great value nice versatile frame. Was the chainstay actually cracked after the big off? I’d personally be on a Bronson or Nomad but they are quite a bit more expensive. Look forward to what’s next, a nice hardtail maybe? The Nukeproof scout is superb value and is great fun
I would love to see you try an Evil, the Insurgent or Wreckoning should work well for your kind of riding. Evil does not field racing teams at the top level so it be great to see what riders like you can do with them and hear you review. PS: Those Valparaiso videos were incredible. You are a brave man!!
It'd be very interesting to get some more info about the suspension, how it feels compared to Norco for example. I mean... you've got a great opportunity to do the things you love without being forced to hide details from your sponsors. I'd also recommend getting more into geo a bit, as I'm not sure there was an issue with 27.5 wheel but a big difference in chainstay length between the giga and the norco. Don't get me wrong, but if you just say - well... it feels not that stable at speed etc - is pretty much a general expression you hear on every bike review that tells pretty much nothing :) and I think you can give much more details regarding that. Also... you can give some more details about the frame itself - the finish, cable routing, some interesting stuff like bearings protection etc. We won't judge you for your opinion :) as finally we may get an honest one - not the one from MTB media
Because you don’t have a frame sponsor and are in the uk you should go spend a day with Mojo Rising on one of their g1 frames. Chris and his team have years of experience with suspension tuning and geometry. Could be a good learning experience!
just wanted to say because you put a 200mm fork on it the head angle will be slacker than 63.5 anyway because your essentially slackening the whole bike👍
Hi Lewis, I would be keen to see you try a Rocky Mountain altitude. I have recently gotten one, and would love to see what you think of it. Not to mention that they have a ton of EWS podiums!
Hi , I was going to ask the exact same question, am in-between sizes ,not sure to go for a medium or large,I ride a YT Capra Al medium from back in 2016 been told it's just a little bit small for me now ,and the giga medium has a slightly longer reach than my Capra , and longer wheel base , I am 5,10 . And looking at different geometrys on bikes is baking my head 😂
Few things:- Excellent bounce up in vid quality, thanks! How’s the frame after that bump? You were worried it might have a delam/crack on the left chainstay. And could you put the hurry up on Delium getting a distributor in the U.K.? They are cagey when I ask, even when I mention you 😉 Lastly, you’ll know Christo Gallagher has just joined the Orange Factory Team (Enduro): have you considered their new multi link activated single pivot Switch 7 as a frame? It’s quite long, but a mullet and a make or break frame for Orange - maybe it’s special?
Thanks! Frame is ok. Got it looked after. Regarding orange; just personal opinion. It’s not a bike I’m really interested in or find a good looking bike. So I won’t be riding once this year. BUT…plenty of cool new bikes coming
Do you think that you would consider riding the Commencal Supreme DH V5 in the future. I think that It would be a really fun and fast bike to race based of what I have heard, and considering the suspension layout with the 6-bar high pivot design and the rearward axle path I think that it would make a great downhill race bike. Personally I have never ridden one but I would like to see what your opinion would be on a bike like this (high pivot).
Maybe get a custom steel bike built by a frame builder, completely design it around the geometry you think you would want and after testing all the bikes you’ve bought see how it compares…?
i'd relly like to have your honest opinion on frames like the privateer 161, the raaw madonna v2 or even the zoceli naosm, i'm loving your content, keep up!
Fair shout for going into something like this. Ideal to have honest feedback from someone who can actually ride and isn't being told what to say! Obviously, you're going to give feedback on what you feel is best, but it's still good to know. What I wouldn't mind seeing is short tutorials on how to go fast as feck on certain bits when riding. How to properly nail a bend type thing. What can influence it in bike set-up, etc. None of this stuff for beginners (as there is plenty of that), but next level stuff. Full whap. Be cool. We just need to learn to grow mahosive nuts like you, as well then 🤣
How did it compare to the Range given you rode it at Hardline vs the Giga? Different venues but both very gnarly. Great video and looking forward to more.
It's great you relate the wheelbase, 1255 compared to 1285 of a past bike! I'm used to relating reach between bikes but that opens up the can of worms to talk about everything from chainstay to head tube angle.. Then maybe it's just me, but I'm a little annoyed you don't relate your own height (and your wing span if it's short or long) to get an idea of the relative size of the bike. I first though front axle-to-crown be longer with a 200 mm travel fork but then realized double-crown forks have shorter axle-to-crown. I think it would be great if you confirmed the axle-to-crown is actually the same, or little or largely different. Thanks for the video!
Interesting vid, although when you say you don't want anything slacker than 63.5 you realise that sticking a 200mm fork on slackened the bike by a degree? Thought that would be quite noticeable to a pro?
I had x wing spec enduro and i bought commencal meta and rear end feels almost like i ride a hardtail is that bike spicific or do i have wrong suspension setup what do you think
If your going to review frames / bikes I would most definitely value your opinion more than others if as you've paid for the bike /frame . My suggestion is to Buy different frames and or bikes with your own £££ then real world test them and review and rate them . Then raffle the bikes afterwards to get you £££ back to purchase the next one. I don't know if you follow Matt Armstrong's car channel? The raffle is working well for him. Its a win win situation as you would get lots of views from folks watching your reviews and the punters get to own a amazing bike set up by a pro for a small amount of £££
Good frames for the price, quality lacking in a few areas, paint as you said, mine at shock mount and pivots, also the pivot bolts have one check on them before looking mashed, anodising is poor quality, suspect quality bolt.
I'm not sure whether anyone else has said anything, but I know there are cheap mics you can buy! I mention this because it's somewhat difficult to hear your thoughts
@@LewisBuchanan You tell me what you need on it (images, sponsors logo, text etc) I can then design and produce one! I'll ping you an email if you like?
@@LewisBuchanan yeah same height as me. I tend to enjoy that 470-480 ish reach. My current bike is a norco sight and it’s 485 and I feel a tad stretched out. Even with a short 35mm stem. Next bike I’m going to be aiming for the 470-475 range
