I'd pay $40 more if it had SSB (on HF) and AM demodulation from 108-136 Mhz (airband).The Bluetooth app is a great feature. Sure wish they would do something similar to the CountyComm GP-7.

I'm pretty happy with my PL-368, especially since it has single side band reception. Otherwise, I'd be all over that thing. That's a really neat little radio. Price is pretty decent as well.

Yeah SSB is really helpful especially when trying to listen to an AM broadcast that has interference close to the center carrier (not exactly on the center carrier but on one of the side bands, if said interference is on the upper side band you use lower side band, and vice versa). And AM sync usually doesn't help when there's interference anywhere in the signal. I'm of the mind of a shortwave receiver doesn't have SSB it's almost useless, not only for AM, but you miss out on so many broadcasts that do use SSB (ocean air traffic, number stations, pirates, and more).

Nice review. I work in a warehouse and must leave my phone in my locker adjacent to tge breakroom. There are a few walls separating the locker room from my work area. Do you think that my phone will still send a signal to the radio?

If I'm going to be buying a shortwave receiver it has to have SSB, SSB can be used for more than receiving SSB signals (can be used for AM to get around interference if the interference falls into one of the side bands of the AM signal), plus you miss out on many of the non Ham SSB broadcasts. It has to have complete Shortwave coverage (1710-30MHz), otherwise it's pretty much worthless to me. And not really a requirement but to be able to switch to FM mode on other bands (like CB being that the FCC now allows FM on CB). Being that there are no shortwave receivers that do this it's not really mandatory if it does or not, but I'd love to see it happen.

Good overview. Happen to have gotten one yesterday. Sound is definitely well above average and strong, especially considering the size (has EQ modes for music playback). App actually works well, allows you to finer tune in vhf ( rather than maybe the 5k steps). SW reception isn't too impressive here (tried several clipped antenna setups). I think I'm gonna return mine and get an ssb sw receiver, but wow, pretty nifty for how tiny the thing is.

I got this radio. It's neat with some neat features but it is not a DX machine in any manner or form and AM reception is horrible. It also only has 9 hour power only, which makes it kind of useless unless you want to keep charging it every day. EDIT: bluetooth is the culprit for the very short battery life. Turning it off increases it greatly.
