I tried to watch the first season and forced myself to watch first few ep. I eventually stopped watching it out of disgust. There no point on adapting a book in to a film or movie if your gone make sweeping changes to the story. There was no need to make the changes they made. To me making the changes is like saying the books aren't good enough so we have to put are own spin on things. Also there gone have to deviate from the books more and more as story progress becauae there things rhey did that don't line up with things that happen later on. I forget what those things were because been well over a year sense I tried to watch series. It's so sad what they did with series becaise they could adapted the books with out all the changes and it would have done just as well maybe even better. The only think I hope is that people who watch the show are drawn to the books and read them. All though there gone be massively suprised how different the books are to series.

If you say so. I'm one of those people thar if your gone turn books in to movies and shows you should try and stick to the book as much as possible. The vampire chronicles are some favorite books off all time. I don't see the point in changes they made. If you have to make sweeping changes to make it more appealing then it's not worth adapting in to a series or a film. The fact is they could have easily adapted the novels in to a series and not made the changed they made. Season one should been interview with the vampire. Season two should been the vampire lestat Season three and four should been queen of the damnd. So on and so on. All the changes they made is like saying the books aren't good enough so we have to put our own spin on it. It really breaks my heart because if done right the Vamire chronicles would be fantastic as series.

IMO, when an adaptation is being made, it’s part of the process for the creators and writers to use their talents and make it their own and stand on its own. I think they did a fabulous job. This is their vision of the story. Otherwise, just read the book.

Personally, I think it's heartbreaking that something can be a worse adoption of Anne Rice books than Queen of the Damned was, then this mess just appears and smears and stupifys her work, story, and characters. Claudia being a teenager just misses the whole point of her character.

@@michaelrunk5930 it’s impossible to translate stories from one medium to the another without making changes. Literally no movie/show/play has been or will ever be exactly like the written work. In a book your telling a story in a visual medium you are SHOWING it changes will ALWAYS be made to make it more visually interesting. If you don’t like that then don’t watch it! Just stick to your books!

I just finished season 1 and it was literally the best vampire show I've ever watched. Season 1 basically summed up what a narcissist relationship looks like "Trauma bonding, gaslighting, betrayal blindness, love bombing, isolation, cohesive control and hoovering". Season 2 is going to be a whole new level of crazy and I'm here for it.

He is a FANTASTIC actor. His performance as Armand is even more impressive when in real life his personality is like... Hmmm... Okay, imagine if you crossed golden retriever energy with a happy ball of sunshine and added an adorable Manchunian accent. That's Assad Zaman ❤ He's so lovely and I cannot WAIT to see more of his performance in Season 2. *Edit: Assad grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne so I should've said he had a Geordie accent.

Watching this scene gives me tingles because Assad is just so so brilliant. That element of detached dark irony/humor he’s lacing the character with. When he brings up Claudia’s youth, just absolutely savage! If you know you know, but wow! Also the subtle flirting with Louis, even though we all know he can read Louis’s thoughts, yet Armand seems genuinely touched by Louis’s compliment and attention. This cast is out of this world!

oh man, i'd forgotten about the recast of claudia. thought that lady in scene was a new character before the name dropped. claudia's one of the best things on the series and, as i believe the new actor will do perfect in her own right, i can't help missing bailey bass' portrayal already... hers was a distinctive rendition. but it's just a matter of wait and see, i'm sure. can't wait for the new season!!!

Production is currently finishing filming season 2 in Prague so I had a feeling AMC would drop another teaser and I was right 🤭 Based on this scene, I think that Assad will be good as Armand - he definitely seems like a dark mysterious villain so it's not looking positive for Louis. 😂💕

Agreed, and much closer in age to the book Armand anyhow. Don't get me wrong, Antonio's version in the movie version of IWTV was really good, but Armand was turned when he was relatively young so Assad makes much more sense in that case.

One thing about this show that was completely missed with the Mayfair witches series is that the environment absolutely does the source justice. Even if the plot is almost completely altered, this FEELS like anne rice sketched the environment. The world has the depth of her worlds. the characters have new and different lives while somehow retaining the life she gave them!

@@banbasafro This is exactly right. The story time and some major details changed...but I truly believe Anne would be 100% behind the changes. Everyone STILL feels like their characters from the book. The essence is there and frankly, I think the changes that have been made to the time and characters are perfection.

I think the lighting plays a key part in that. I noticed it over and over how things were lit to great effect. You can have impeccable sets and actors giving their all but have it all play just slightly off to the viewers eye if the lighting isnt right. Here it does the job right to let everything shine.

I've never read the books, I have only watched the 1994 movie. But I just got done watching the Blu-ray of season 1 binged all of it, and it was AMAZING I loved every second of it. I'm officially hooked and can't wait for season 2 very excited. I just hope word of mouth, the great reviews, and AMC get behind this show and promote it more, because it just seems like this show isn't getting enough attention and promotion it deserves.
