I really don't get why Marvel cheaped out with the glued binding again. They really should have learned from the subpar binding on the House of X/Powers of X OHC. I don't mind the flat spine but the glued binding is honestly unacceptable for the price. It's a shame because it looks like a well constructed book besides the binding.
I recently got HOX/POX and loved it, got DoX 1 and 2 on the way. Just saw this is ridiculously cheap on Amazon. May oreorder it and save it for when I'm caught up on DoX.
Hi Omar, thanks to you I ordered the Uncanny X-Men omnibus volumes 1,2,3,4 and Claremont and Lee omnis 1 and 2 all in one go... and I don’t even like X-Men! (Just kidding, I love em! Keep up the good work)
I can’t remember any other books of Benjamin Percy’s that I’ve read before but his X-books have been really good. I’m so impressed. For me I’ve been loving his X-Force and Wolverine, Gerry Duggan’s work with Marauders, and Zeb Wells’s Hellions. Not to mention Hickman’s X-Men. And another thing that’s great is I’m almost finished the original New Mutants omnibus vol. 1, and so I’m being introduced to a lot of these characters in these older stories just now and now I get to see where they’ve ended up 30 years later. When I read Dawn of X’s issue of Nova Roma, not an hour later I co-incidentally read the original New Mutants arc of Nova Roma. It’s like Marvel planned this with their release schedule of the Chris Claremont/New Mutants omnibus and the Dawn of X/X of Swords. That cohesion has greatly amplified my enjoyment of these books. It’s almost like I’m reading historic reference material catching up with the history. Hickman is really utilizing the full history of X-Men and I’m reaping the payoff to wonderful effect. I’m a fully converted acolyte. X-Men forever.
I’ve never really had an issue Mitch the quality of the books from Marvel. Be they flat spine, gutter curved, whatever. As long as it is functional, I’m fine.
I preordered this and I’m looking forward to reading it. I’m a bit disappointed it’s a glued binding, but hopefully it’s comfortable to read. Some of those big DC books actually make my hands sore to hold open.
Looks great. I have the DM cover coming from DCBS. I have to say I love being able to comfortably buy my books ahead of time as opposed to the 3pm shuffle at IST...
Hi Omar, I think you are the best. And thx for all videos till now 🙏🏻 just one question is there any meaning missing if we read "x of swords" before "down of x". I got hox HC btw. Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm slowly transitioning to DCBS from IST. Just too much uncertainty with IST between shipping times, stock supply, slow server issues (on their end) and near lack of communication. Yes, I do realize it's the same company, but with DCBS not only do I get 50 % off, but I can preorder and get peace of mind.
@@imaposer3 Yeah, they're listed as OHC for individual titles, so far we have Marauders and .... forget the second one. I haven't decided whether or not to preorder, I'd rather have books with like the first arcs of multiple stories, etc, kinda like Age of Apocalypse omni
I've had this pre-ordered for a while now, and I'll echo others in saying that the glued binding is really disappointing, especially given the size of the book. Much smaller oversized hardcovers have gotten proper sewn bindings, and given this is a $100 book shipping nearly three months after it was originally solicited to release, I would have expected it to be done properly as well. I really hope this isn't about to become a trend in Marvel hardcovers going forward, or I may have to cut down on what I buy. I have specifically avoided some DC omnibuses that I otherwise would have picked up because there were reports of their glued bindings not holding up properly. When a book costs as much as these do, I expect quality that lasts.
great vid omar.. i have all the singles so wont be picking this up.. but youre rite they should have added excailbur 12 to this hardcover. it was a vital plot point
Thanks for the video! I am unfortunately not picking these up. I want to focus on the Chris Claremeont X-Men run and I am reading Hickman's FF and Avengers run
I'm very tempted to get this but I think I'll hold out for an omnibus. I much prefer collecting books that way and I think there's a good chance this will be collected in an omnibus too.
I have been asked for a couple of years about House and Powers being in an omnibus... its hard to say as Infinity was in Hickvengers omnibus 1, but Secret Wars was not in Hickvengers omnibus 2.
F.Y.I about other OHCs - Venom by Danny Cates Volume 2 and X-Men Disassembled Volume 1 were delivered (here in the UK) yesterday (25th February). I wasn't expecting Disassembled based on its estimated release date - since the online store wasn't a direct market comic shop. I don't know how this compares to elsewhere.
Will there be an omnibus with all of Hickmans X-Men run + events? Wondering wether I should buy the House of X + X of Swords Hardcovers plus the X-Men Omnibus by Jonathan Hickman or wait for an Omnibus that will have everything.
I loved the beginning... LOVED the set up. Mixed in the middle, did Not like the execution of some battles and was indifferent with the ending. That sums up my feelings. Great art, though.
The current X-Men books look so cool but I’m super intimidated by how many different runs there are that are interconnected and how to even start collecting it all. I’m also not super well versed on the X-Men in general so I’m not sure if I’d understand what’s going
Thanks for the great overview as always, Omar! I have pre-ordered this already and was wondering how to prep for it. I have read HoX/PoX, the Excalibur omni (so I’m familiar with Otherworld, Saturnyne, etc), and the first two arcs of X-Men. Do you think I should read the new Excalibur series for the complete picture, or would that be enough?
Once i pick up the rest of Claremont stuff i will get into Hickmans X-Men. Anything else to recommend reading first? Really looking forward to his run it ends well i will definitely collect everything in the dawn of x trades👍 I would've watched this sooner but never got a notification.
Hi Omar, love your vids. Quick question : I have read HoX and PoX but haven't gotten around to reading the x-men or excalibur.or marauders etc. Does it make sense to get this? Will it make sense as I read this without background?
Hey Omar amazing video, i have a question. I am thinking strongly of investing in hickman x-men, so should I start collecting those Dawn of X books? or wait for the future maybe we gonna get some collected editions or omnis? I mean this is Hickman and there is a strong chance he will get omnis but I am not sure if it'll be x-men only or the reading order Dawn of X :D and man full support from me without your channel I would never get into comics and collecting :))) I hope I can show u one day my small humble collection haha :D
So I'll give you the Omar timeline. We have Dawn of X trades, we have upcoming OHCs. In six months there are no omni announcements... maybe time to get those OHCS. I want to see your collection one day.
Will be getting this for sure , not the biggest fan of the spine design it could of been a little more exiting . How is the paper quality? Books seems a bit thin considering the page count
I very confused on how Hickman's Xmen is being collected - and why this X of Swords event is being released before the ongoing series in deluxe HCs. I want to read ONLY Hickman's work. Why havent they released any Deluxe HCs of Hickman's run yet? Will Hickman's Xmen book and his Giant Size Xmen be included in the Deluxe HCs? Will the eventual Hickman deluxe HCs overlap with this particular X of Swords collection? Im just going to wait until we see the plan for the ongoing series.
I have some answers.. We know we are getting a Excalibur, Marauders and one more OHC ( I haven't announced yet) before end of year. I can't imagine there being any overlapping.
I've had this on pre-order since June last year. It's disappointing that it's glued binding and square spine. But I can live with it. Trying to determine which of the OHC's (once announced) I'll get. I know: Marauders X-Men Hellions New Mutants I'm unsure on Excalibur. I've not heard much buzz on it. Is it crucial for XofS?
Apologies if this is asked and answered, but why is this coming out before the Dawn of X trades are caught up to this? Shouldn't they publish all those, and then have this come out? I don't want to read it before I've read all the previous issues.
I really hope they redo these Krakoa Omnis and OHCs with sewen binding, it deserves the luxury and decadence and oh my god, these variants are wasting a lot of the art with big white borders that don't need them!
I know this is out of the blue Omar. I have an extra copy of the Curse Words Deluxe edition by Charles Soule and Ryan Browne that is still sealed. The only thing is it has some damage on two corners. I got a replacement from Ryan and he told me to keep the damaged one. Is there a way to send you the damaged one? Maybe you could review it and keep it or pay it forward. Thanks again and great overview.
Hello Omar, I know it hasn't been announced, but if we do get a Dawn of X Omni one day, in your opinion, do you think HoX/PoX & X of Swords would be part of the omni or will they be left out as individual OHCs and the omni only consist of the dawn of x series?
Still seems weird for this to come out before the Dawn of X collections were finished. I won't be reading this until I get to read Dawn of X Vol. 13 - 16 first.
Not really an X-pert so this will be a pass for me. Despite that, the book looks great! I always thought the whole binding/flat issues was really dependent on each book, and to me this one isn’t that bad. Though of course I’m sure we all love to know what the binding is, so thanks for this! :) Algorithm gang!
Sorry for the silly question but I’m still not sure where this fits into the overall run... is this additional to the Dawn of X trades, reprints of stuff in Dawn of X, or kinda both? If I wanted to read the whole hickman x in HC, would this come directly after hox/pox?
Hi Omar, I need your advice. I have found the single issues of this collection at the same price as this hardcover edition. What should I buy, the hardcover or the single issues?
