How much 'real estate' does this take up on your cross bars? It does not appear to have any padding for protecting the kayak once it is mounted and strapped down. I am looking to use this for loading my composite sea kayak, so padding/protection of the hull is important.
What is the widest of a kayak that it can take. I have a Nucanoe Frontier 10 that's 38'' wide and about 65lbs. Most of the videos I see of people using these loaders are using sit inside kayaks that way next to nothing..lol
Not sure the width. Let me verify that. I know it will hold 80lbs though. Also, if you need something quickly, this isn't out for a few months yet. It'll be summer before you can get one. I'll check on the width.
Okay thanks, kinda figured it would be about the same as the thule. What's the point in making these for small narrow kayaks that don't weigh that much, anyway i'll move onto something else, thanks again
I think they are probably trying to hit the "heavy half" market. Of the kayaks that weigh less than 80 pounds, almost all are under 36" wide. At least that's my guess.
Yeah mine is under the 80lbs just a little wider, They probably should have done there homework on the diff types of kayaks on the market from the narrow to the widest then they would have covered the whole range. Look's like i'll end up with the rhino rack t- loader, just hope it helps with me being so short, just not sure,
