It looks like you have some sort of locking nut for the stand bases; where did you get those at? Getting ready to install this system and looking for theft deterants
@michaelb7611 I believe those locking nuts came with the bedrack kit or tonneau adapter kit. I never bought an extra locking product fro Yakima so I believe it came standard in one of those 2 kits
Great review! But I am wondering why did you switch from the bolts to the Yakima recovery board mounts? Not sure if I missed that part of video, but just curious as to why you made the switch? Thanks!
Hey there! I bought the recovery board mount at the same time I bought the rack. Unfortunately my old recovery boards didn't fit so I held onto the mount until I bought Maxtrax. The old bolts were just temporary in order to mount my old boards.
I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. ru-vid.comUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...
Do you know the total weight for the racks and the tonneau cover. Great setup but I'm concerned about payload because I'm going to pull a trailer as well
Unfortunately I dont know the weight but I honestly wouldn't be too concerned. Since its aluminum its pretty light. Id check the specs on yakima if you're able
Do they slide down any more so it’s not such an air gap between a tent and the cab? I have a zr2 as well and want to run a bed rack/tent combo and also still use my tailgate pad for MTB
Yep, I’m wondering how easily removable the crossbars are since I’ve got the Diamondback HD cover. Also deciding on width since I’ve got the RamBoxes narrowing things a bit. I’m leaning toward the 60” so everything can be tucked in if I add any mounting brackets to the crossbars.
I'm trying to buy the Yak HD Overhaul at my local dealer now. He doesn't have the HD cross bars so he is pushing the Jet Stream bars instead. I'm concerned the Jetstreams will not hold the tent platform as well as the HD bars. Store is saying the Jetstream bars are just as good but more aero dynamic. Anyone have any opinions of the Jetstream cross bars? I suspect he is pushing them because he doesn't have the HDs in stock.
@@varsityoverland I appreciate and value your experiences. I felt the same way about the Jet Streams. I have found another dealer that does have the HD bars in stock so I may have to pick this up in pieces between the 2 dealers and assemble it myself.
@topwaterpursuit The assembly is straight forward and the Yakima instructions are well written. They also include a lot of diagrams of the installation. Feel free to message me with any questions too👍
