I'm glad the Hermes thrones have more healing now but jeez surface enemies hit like a truck. They hit even harder in Olympus. So many enemies do like 30 damage a hit, which isn't much less than what Chronos himself does ...
YES I just gasped while playing a trial chamber, a water ball from frickin Poseidon took 13 dmg, and a random enemy from the boat parts (i play in portuguese, don't remember right now the name in english) just demolished me with 4 energy blasts of 16 The surface is too hard rn, in my little semi casual opinion
I was on a run earlier and looked away for a second with roughly 200 health and lost a DD in Olympus😂I already play a very face-tanking style but jeez the new zone REALLY punishes you for that
They intentionally overtune the newest stuff in content patches so that EA players have some challenge, it will get nerfed later. I assume the surface was overtuned from the start since it only had 2 biomes as opposed to the 4 on the first path.
Prometheus' fighting style kinda remind me of Zagreus with those twin fists; he constantly charges at you quickly to get close enough to deliver a rapidly brutal and destructive beatdown.
Also love how the soundtrack of Dionysus' room is SUCH a sharp contrast to it. It's like Mel walks into a different world for a bit, and it really highlights how far he's going to remove himself from the war in favor of just pretending like everything's his version of normal. And then Mel walks out of that oasis and its right back to the intense Olympus theme that ramps up the further in you go.
@@ashec.6824no that theme in Dionysus’ room is SOOO Transistor I felt like I got punched with nostalgia - and the bots in Olympus feel incredibly reminiscent of transistor as well
@vbhvsgr I'm so upset they changed that arcana card. I was wondering why I was getting hit so often in Olympus. Now I think it's because the slow down mechanic was removed from omega moves. That was a core card mechanic and they shouldn't have changed it :/
@AzureShrike You always have the card with 3 DD too, and they'll never nerf this. I don't see why they should take away a core card mechanic that's been in the game since the April test demo.
The update is CRAZY, not only surface got updated, but game overall got so much more better. But im so glad i got 32 heat done before, coz no way I beat surface now lol
The difficulty spike is throwing me for a loop on this update, especially eris for me, some of her moves can deal up to 50 damage and the barriers in her arena break super easily, Polyphemus has new attacks that are not very telegraphed, and the enemies in Olympus hit like a semi on the highway. Edit: ok I got the hang of eris it looks like only her bombs can break the barriers so avoid the barriers when she’s bombing. Also I got a new damage record when I was hit for 150 FUCKING HEALTH from a Prometheus move (no I didn’t have any kind of self damage boosting boons or keepsakes on, trust me I checked)
If you got hit by the same move I did that thing seems stupid. I ran in a pretty tight window and still wasn't fast enough to get to the safe space in time.
@@WizardofWestmarch yeah if you want to make this fight more fair I’d recommend going out of your way to find any goons that make your sprint faster. If feels like Prometheus was designed to be a hades 1 boss, with things like a double dash and always sprinting in mind
SO happy to see talos have magnetic cutter as one of his attacks, the callbacks to the aspects of the infernal arms are such wonderful easter eggs for fans. Surface damage feels so punishingly high, I see a lot of other comments here that are agreeing with that so I feel a bit less like Im just coping. Meanwhile it feels super fitting that the black coat is the weapon shown in the promotional art for fighting Prometheus, the mobility it gives you definitely makes dodging his attacks way less awful. Aspect of nyx in particular feels completely busted good, I kinda expect to see it be nerfed in no time. Its incredibly satisfying to use though, so hopefully its not nerfed that much.
@@9darkspells Is Athena holding Zeus shield in her new art? I kinda wish all the gods held their signature aspect tbh. Like Eris is holding the rail, and Nemesis has her sword.
Charon can traverse other rivers too (which is how he traverses the rift of thessaly) as he's a boatman but yeah no water on olympus (expressedly shown at the start that it's so cold that any possible stream has frozen over)
"It's not my troubles that I mean to save" Uhhhhh the implications there tho?! Who's he trying to protect? Mortals? Mel? Definitely doesn't seem like Chronos, he just feels like that's the option that leads to the best outcome.
caught the end of stream but the game is really coming all together! I was personally always skeptical about the "ALL the Olympians are coming back" so it seems like we're stuck with these event gods for lack of a better term. The surface is pretty tough too so the eventual extreme measures is gonna be nuttyyyy *spoiler?* Final boss is def hinting at a typhon as the leaks suggested with the giant storm atop mt olympus.
I’m so sad that they changed the slow time mechanic into a keepsake. Now it forces me to play without a keepsake just to be able to play like before the patch
The new weapon is really fun, still tryna figure out the best boon synergies, but it definitely reminds me of the gauntlets from hades 1. Also, Athena and dionysus are really cool to see return on olymus, i actually like the event gods because the intro to them is cool.
This update is looking super good so far! I did end up beating the new final enemy with the Charon axe on my second attempt (no fear), but the automatons in Olympus are absolute murder machines, at least for me. I get the feeling that melee weapons are going to be most difficult on the surface.
I think that they might want to move Olympus up as the 4th region, move Eris as a boss to any 3rd region they make, and give Charybdis the place of Thessaly boss. Because what could be more than Olympus?
I haven’t been keeping up with hades 2 for a while now (for reference I hadn’t seen the images of keepsakes and a couple of the upstairs zones) so I wonder if maybe one of the zones for “upstairs” is gonna be Mount Othrys (if I remember correctly that should be the mountain of the titans.
Did y'all find Dio after that 2nd run? Had to bounce because fuck work and then I was driving back home after that LOL And what about gifting nectar to him and Athena? Don't suppose you were able to do that?
I mean the game right now is twice the size of Hades 1, well, except for the story. There are two more major updates so I assume two more zones or one zone then obviously a story tie-up for underworld and surface runs. I hope we get more keepsakes and Gods, still huge cope on that. Honestly, Hades 2 is slowly becoming as large as a triple A game with it still being in beta like the game is large + lore still at 50% due to locked dialogues.
@@vagueeeee139 Since they got Athena and Dionysus in this section of Olympus, I can't imagine they're going to leave ONLY Ares out. Especially since the other Olympians usually mention him and Athena together in dialogue, talking about how they're defending Olympus separately from the other gods. I'd be shocked if he wasn't one of the encounters in Surface Zone 4 (I'm guessing as a mid-encounter one like Athena rather than a peaceful chamber like Dio) and will probably come with a keepsake of his own as well, so there's at least one more incoming. Not as sure about the full chamber encounter though, since Ares was the only leftover from H1 and the Tartarus equivalent is Hades who's keepsake seems to be post-game locked if he does have one.
@@ashec.6824 I actually think Ares is the final boss. In real lore Ares is the right hand man of Chronos which makes actual sense. I actually said this in early access where what if the surface final boss is Ares just because it's 100% greek lore. Though 1 more encounter is a must for every zone so it might just be, I just think he's more fit as final boss rather than someone helping you. Hard coping on this but I think at full game release or once we unlock the ending I see some changes for bosses like alternate zone runs. Because I don't see a reason why Prometheus, Eris, Chronos, and even Hecate should still be the regional bosses. Their goal was to follow/defeat Chronos and based on the ending we will somehow cancel out Chronos' unlimited life regen. Last cope is that secret ending or post-game after Chronos has been defeated we'll actually get Hades still as the final underworld boss because why not. As for Surface after defeating Ares we can actually see a Zeus fight or no, it seems very cool to have that ngl, though it's a hard cope for me.
@@vagueeeee139 The main reason I disagree with Ares being the final boss is the game seems to be dropping hits that it's Typhon. The Olympians and Od have new dialogue alluding to Chronos having something 'big' in his corner - as in like physically massive - and you play for long enough on Olympus, you'll start experiencing intermittent earthquakes after completing chambers, which Mel will acknowledge herself. Prometheus is also legitimately AFRAID of whatever the final boss is - he has multiple pieces of dialogue talking about how what she'll find up there is horrifying beyond comprehension, including one that seems to play out as if Zone 4 is already there where he basically says "You've seen the horrors that await behind me, you're a fool for being eager to confront it again." Ares is powerful and scary, but he's not even the strongest of the Olympians - no shot he's garnering that kind of reaction from a Titan who's seen what Prometheus has. But Typhon is MASSIVE, and is widely regarded as one of the most deadly beings in all of Greek Mythology. After failing to defeat Zeus for control of the gods, most myths say that he was specifically cast into Tartarus, which is where Chronos was the entire time since his defeat at the hands of the gods. The two of them could have conspired for who knows how long to enact their revenge on the gods who took their rule and locked them away in the deepest pits. The tremors are likely him 'awakening' and coming up from underground - again, he's one of the largest entities in all of Greek mythology. And when it comes to Prometheus there's something very worth noting - that eagle of his? It's believed to be a child of Typhon, which might explain why it's suddenly so willing to cooperate with the Titan he's been torturing for centuries.
@@ashec.6824 I mean it could be, it was also part of the lore but I still chime in with Ares being against you since it also makes sense even if he isn’t the final boss. We’ll have to see during the next two major updates.
I’m confused as to why Melinoë calls the Daedalus hammer at 28:51 an Icarus hammer in her voice line? They’re clearly called Daedalus hammers, it’s written at the top of the screen, yet the voice line says “an Icarus hammer?” With subtitles to match.
A conversation with Icarus reveals that Daedalus has apparently retired, so Icarus has been covering for him (though he asks Melinoe not to tell this to anyone)
@@TheTroupeMasterGrimm from what I remember, Daedalus already retired in this game and Icarus is the one making the hammers in Hades 2 but still calling the hammers Daedalus Hammers because it's known by everyone or has a better ring to it. Thus the voice line
Galera br, já fiz todo que tinha que fazer durante o segundo update, queria saber se vale a pena continuar acompanhando os novos ou esperar pra versão final do jogo. Frustrante não saber o final da lore..... kkkkkkkk
Seems like they're sticking to Olympians being the boon-givers though and the Steam page kinda indicates it as well. I'm down for other gods joining the fray either way.
But there’s no Aspect of Prometheus in Hades, might be a different weapon he’s wielding, or just seemingly ordinary gloves paired with his fire powers.
@@chanceraphael328 well demeter isnt wielding them, and talos doesnt even have hands in its current form, so If we’re only limiting ourselves to whats in hades that means they’d be with Gilgamesh seeing as zag is out of commission. But it really could just be a new aspect for a new bearer. Its never stated that the forms shown in the first game are the only ones that will ever exist.
I think so, since the icon of prometheus is at the bottom of the mount olympus icon so I assume the top is for the final boss. Also, judging by the four zone pattern it’s very likely.
Maybe I'm asking for too much but Athena and Dionysus are just events, and not full fledged gods with duos ect, feels bad man. I really thought they would add at least 3 more full gods to make the number be the same as first game
We just have to hold our horses atm. There are still 2 more major updates until full release and judging by how large these major updates are then I think we’ll be getting full fledged Gods when the game fully releases.
but there are already 8 full boon gods, which is the same amount the first game had athena artemis ares and dionysus have been traded out for hera apollo hephaestus and hestia
Won't lie, I'm slightly disappointed as well in this particular detail, maybe just because I won't see Athena, Dio and Arty as often as I'd hoped. The roadmap states that more boons are on the way so we'll have to see what they have planned!
i clapped her with an axe run, aspect of thanatos (the attack speed and crit one) and actually no death defiance, which i realized after the fight😂 i forgot to equip the card! I promise you can do it if you keep grinding, maybe look into guides :) also big piece of advice which i JUST figured out, stay far away, run, wait for a chance to punish. Most of the time, you can get out of range of her bullets
@@arxidiax2arxidiax276 Stay directly behind Eris. She needs to spend time turning for almost all of her attacks, which is her main weakness. Just keep dashing through her when she manages to turn to face you. She becomes deceptively easy when you realise this.
@@WyvernKnightBright I use this strategy but still get wrecked with certain weapons like the flames or skull that require a bit of time to get out attacks! Been beating her a few times with axe and staff but getting treatments with other weapons is gonna be a pain lol
