Becky, you need a wagon! Use it to transport from the grow room to the garden and back. It can also hold your tools and baskets. Work smarter not harder! 🌺
I am just seeing this video and was thinking the same thing! I have a tiny garden but I have a huge flat bed cart so I can move soil deliveries and shorten the amount of trips I need to make. I am 58 and have mobility issues, arthritis blah, blah etc.. so I wouldn’t get anything done without the help of my kids and these modern contraptions 😂 I would just want her to be kinder to her body now so she’s still rocking with her garden well into her future. 💞🙏🏽
I love that you get excited about the sunflowers. ~My Neighbor~ has planted his entire suburban front yard in mixed sunflowers. You currently cannot see his house. 😅 I am delighted by his antics. There’s gotta be 200+ 12-15ft sunflowers, all colors. 🌻
If people are looking for my house, everyone just describes it as "the one with the sunflowers growing past the roof". It's chaotic and the neighbour's love it
Hi everyone! Becky corn is a heavy feeder! Yellowing tells me it needs nitrogen! Also the pumpkin plants in that same bed are way smaller than your other ones and might be struggling for the same reason! But everything looks amazing and I'm so excited for you 💚💚💚
I was just about to leave this comment about the corn. A good layer of blood meal every 1-2 weeks will get them really nice and dark green. Pumpkins are heavy feeders too. And with them being in the same bed...more blood meal.
I came here to say exactly the same, they are considered "heavy feeders" in addition to your great suggestions maybe next year they need to be planted with a bit more space between them so the don't compete as much for nutrients.
I smiled the entire time I watched this video. I just love your enthusiasm for your hard work in the garden. You deserve all of that beautiful harvest!
Becky, you really need a rolling push garden cart to take to the garden with you to put those heavy filled baskets and heavy produce in to bring back to the house. I think it would make your harvest easier! Make sure it has the kind of wheels that roll easily over your gravel.
Look at you Miss Becky. Your garden is gorgeous and productive. Never doubt it again. I just love your pretty face lighting up every time you see what your hard work has produced. Awesome job lady. Happy gardening.
I love bolted cilantro. We use it in Mexican cooking all the time. We also use cilantro roots in soup (the part of Mexico my mom is from does) because it’s extremely concentrated Flavor
Now what you need to do is, grab a bunch of weather stickers - go through your seeds, find out what likes sun & what likes shade - place appropriate sticker on containers. This will make it easier to know if to plant on north / south side of beds.😀👍
The garden looks amazing!! Just a suggestion, use a wagon (collapsable canvas is what I use) to harvest. Have a bucket for chickens, one for compost, and your harvest baskets. You won't have to make so many trips up to the house and when you see chicken food, it is pulled right away so plants can reset fruit quickly.
Your garden is so beautiful! The landscaping is so wonderfully planned out and executed. And the way you planted out the beds, with all the produce, the flowers in between and the special things like the arches, make it look so whimsical. It's so cool that we were able to see your garden change from nothing to this😊
Becky your garden is absolutely beautiful! Cabbage can last for months in the fridge. The outer leaves may not look the best but just peal them off and you’ll have perfectly good cabbage underneath.
Hey girl!! An fyi: Jessica from Roots and Refuge, suggests tomatoes are best harvested later in the day. Right after watering they may be a little watery. After a hot day, the sugars have had the heat of the day to develope and are best at that time. Love homegrown tomatoes!!
Becky, that's quite a harvest. I have a very tiny first-time Garden at my property that's 3 hours from here and by the time I get back up there it'll be nearly two weeks so it should be interesting to see how that's going. I wish you would show us just a little bit more of the chickens
Oh, Becky! Watching you mosey around, taking in all the growth of your veggies is just adorable! The pumpkins looks amazing! I do love pumpkins. 😍🎃 What a beautiful and bountiful harvest your new garden is producing!
Wow wow wow Becky! What a great harvest! All your hard work is paying off! So happy for you.Looking forward to future videos to see what you make with all of that. Have a great day!🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸
Hi Becky love watching your channel and your produce is amazing just wondered if you knew that Zucchini is the Italian name and Courgette is the French name also when they become very large they are then called a Marrow xx
Those pumpkins are beautiful Becky Your zucchini is huge wow nice work Becky now I need to see the recipe for the zucchini bread I don’t know how to make it
Hi Becky! Great harvest! If your cucumber plants have mostly male flowers, you can pinch off the top of the main stem to encourage the growth of side shoots that will have female flowers.
WOW!!! I see a ton of preservation in your future! It is amazing how everything grows so quickly. It reminds me of my garden back in California. Now we have an apartment in Florida and hoping that we will have something bigger by next year. You are such an inspiration, I felt like I was right there with you. Nothing like fresh veggies!!!
Now is the time that you need to load your harvest into the back of your UTV so you don’t need to carry all of that so far. Wow! What a harvest! I can’t wait to see the preservation 😊
You have built a beautiful garden! I came back from a week at the county fair to find my garden has hit its stride. Thank you for your company as I process my abundance!
Try covering your soil blocks with plastic or a clear container to help with the germination! 🥰 Just be careful to watch for mold and don’t leave it on to long!! ❤️❤️ Love from Alabama!❤️
Wow! I'm still terrible at this! Your crop looks unbelievable! I'm so proud of you! I like using the grow bags, but I can only plant a small batch at a time on my deck. Nothing beats having soil and space
I'm in the same boat as you. Seems like I'm having much more trouble this year though. Too much rain and its washing g away all the nutrients. I keep getting female pumpkin buds but they fall off before they even get big enough to pollinate. Hoping next year will be better.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen ever. I smiled during this entire video. LOL Becky, you are such a beautiful soul and I am so very proud of you and this amazing harvest. You are living my dream to walk into my yard and harvest my produce early in the morning before any gets up. The joy of eating your own home grown food can't be matched.
My grandparents used to have a rescued border collie that came from an awful situation. She was so sweet and so energetic, and also had that crazy collie intelligence. She would let herself out of 2 doors to get to my grandma's peas and beans and just eat every single pod that she could reach! They ended up having to let her have them as she would escape just to get to them❤
My Aussie mix helps himself in the garden. Nothing is safe, but I don’t care too much. Never leave picked greens in a basket on the ground for a second because the disappear😆
I don't have a garden now but I really understand your excitement 😄.I love watching things grow.Alot of hard hot work but completely worth it.Nothing better than fresh veggies.
I'm so happy this video came out today!! I knew it was gonna be an amazing treasure trove in your garden when y'all got back. I love everything about your life style... if I could go back to my 20s, I'd do the exact things you do!! You're living my dream!! Thanks for taking us along on your journey. ❤
You probably already know this but if you plant borage around the garden you will have a ton of bees to pollinate. I did that this year and didn't have to hand pollinate at all.
Wow, wow, wow Becky!! Your garden is so BEAUTIFUL!! You should have driven your side by side around the garden and put the bountiful harvest straight in the back! Lol 😂 So pleased all of your hard work is paying off, absolutely love your channel, cant believe you've got me into garden growing my own vegetables 🍓🥕🍅🥒🥔🫑🧅🧄🥬 lots of ❤ to you all xx 🇬🇧
Thank you for bringing us along as you harvested all those veggies! It was so relaxing to see you do all those! You’re blessed to have such a big garden! 👏👏❤️
So excited for you to have black beans after last years crop! What a stunning garden you have, it's been wonderful to see it come together and your hard work pay off with such a beautiful abundance of produce
I love to use zucchini cubed not peeled with onions, hot or sweet sausage green/ red/orange peppers in a pot with tomato sauce or tomatoes cut up. I use tones spaghetti seasoning or if you don’t have that use Italian seasonings. This mixture can be eaten plain or with pasta. I’ve given this to neighbors and they always ask for the recipe. It’s delicious!
For your giant pumpkins could you use a box or some sort of container and fill with soil and set it right next to your raised bed and place the pumpkin in that? Maybe something almost as tall as the raised bed
So happy for you that you've had such a humongous success! Love your enthusiasm. 🎉 Can't wait to see how you preserve everything. So much work and perseverance, I know you are thankful for such a rich reward. Blessings Becky.
Becky , the Debbie Meyer green bags also come in container form. The containers last forever. Therefore you buy once and done. I use them and love them. Bonus the containers can be used for produce and baked goods and they work great.
Hello Becky, I have been watching your channel for about 2 years now. I just want to thank you for sharing your garden and kitchen fun. I have learned so much from you about the garden and in kitchen. I really love how you are so real and not afraid to show everything. Thank you for being you.!
@@Clvrckie 👍👍may you be blessed with hope, and joy and encouragement and strength and optimism and peace and comfort in great abundance. And this is my prayer for everyone everywhere.
I am already looking forward to some processing videos. It's fun to watch you processing while I am also doing some house chores, feels like I'm "homesteading" with a friend :)
Hey Becky! Your garden is absolutely gorgeous. About your squash/pumpkins... they will ALWAYS try to grow toward the sun. I learned this the hard way when I was trying to train mine to grow in the pathways as well. So maybe next year try only planting them on the south side and they will probably do what you want with no trouble.
What a bountiful harvest🎉, such a blessing! Jessica from Three Rivers Homestead eats the radish seed pods. She says her whole family loves them. Can't remember if she used them in stir fry or eats them raw. Something to consider. 💞
So happy to see your garden producing so well for you after all you have invested financially and physically! Great job Becky! Love watching your cooking videos 💕
Happy Harvesting!! What a bountiful garden you came home to!! I just love your garden set up, and seeing it unfold before our eyes! I know you say you don't plan a lot of things, but you and Josh definitely know how to make plans for your visions to come to fruition!! What a wonderful home sweet home you've created together!! Enjoy the fruits of your labor!! 😊
You need to get some straw under that big orange pumpkin. It will break the contact with the damp dirt so it won't rot on that side. Everything is looking pretty good.
Hey Becky! I’m a long time subscriber of yours since you started your channel, so happy to see how far you’ve come you deserve it, you inspired me to start my own garden ❤ I’m commenting because I think a reason why your yellow zucchini is coming in with hard skins is they could be cross-pollinated with a pumpkin!! A zucchini-pumpkin 🎃I heard about this happening to a gardening friend of mine so I thought I’d share
Not sure if you know this or not, but you can hand pollinate your corn too. Just give the tassels a little tap and let the wind carry the pollen to the other plants. 😊
My husband ordered us a chamber vacuum sealer and I thought he was crazy. After two years of using it, I absolutely love it. I can vacuum seal multiple jars at one time, or I can use it to seal retort pouches for pressure canning, or mylar bags for long term shelf storage, or vacuum seal stuff for the freezer. I'm not sure how we ever lived without it. You are fortunate to have an extra room where you can keep yours -- mine lives on the end of a counter in the corner, and it's huge.
WOW incredible harvest!!!!! I love how Becky's eyes are so expressive when she tastes something or sees something....so genuine! I love how you incorporated flowers into your plan...more more more 😆
I'm so glad you came home and that smile on your face said everything. Good for you and us because love it when thing's go to plan but you really done well. And I hope you all enjoyed your holiday you all deserved it. Jean.
I'm so excited to start my garden too. I feel you when you are so excited harvesting all those goodies. God blessed your garden and your family. It's a big accomplishment, Congrats.
A suggestion, get a pair of garden clogs so you are not tracking dirt into the house. The “baby” will be crawling soon and as you walk through grave and dirt and manure you are bringing it in. Think about the germs all over your floor and then hi putting his hands in his mouth. Clogs can be left at the door and hosed off. You also need a decent knife to cut your produce rather than yanking and ripping everything and stressing the plant.
Your garden looks so green and luscious, so kool watching you harvest it and talk about it. Looking forward to more harvesting and some great cooking from ya!
Becky, I just wanted to say that whenever I'm feeling not my best or unmotivated, watching a good Becky video always seems to do the trick. I was feeling pretty discouraged over my garden. Its a new garden and there was so many things I wasn't able to plant because not all the raised beds were put together and we had to have compost delivered because we live on rocks. This is going to be a lot of work, and I'm getting older (will be 49 this year) and things have been tough. Just a tough few years. So thank you for the great videos. Your content is uplifting. Encouraging. I'm thinking next year will be great. I do have some successes... Just not everything. Some of my seeds were duds too.. And... Some of the seeds I planted grew something totally different than how it was labeled. I planted Chocolate peppers and thats not what I got. I have tiny cherry looking peppers. I'm trying to go with the flow. Happy gardening everyone and thanks again for the quality content.
I don't know if anyone else said anything about the giant zucchini...but it makes a great mock apple pie filling, has to be pressure canned and I'd start with a small batch to see if you like the spices and adjust if needed for future batches. Hope you enjoy your wonderful harvest no matter what you do with it 🙂
I absolutely love your garden haul videos! I took advantage of MI Gardener's one day 50% off deal too and got 22 packets of seed for $22. It took a month but my seeds just showed up a few days ago. So excited
Thank you dearest Becky!!! ISN'T HARVESTING THE BEST!!! I love seeing you smile - ooooooo we sooooooo get it!!!!!!!! Well done and blessings to you and your dear family. Thank you for being you and bringing joy to our world. Our world is wonderful and filled with wonderful people just like you.
