First Nations Australians’ right to self-determination in AOD policy: the process is important 

Evidence shows that when people have autonomy over decisions that affect their life - self-determination - this can contribute to improved wellbeing. This has been evidenced through the strong history of First Nations Australian community-controlled responses to health issues, including the reduction of alcohol and other drug related harms.
This webinar explores:
(i) the elements identified by expert opinion on what is needed for First Nations Australians’ self-determination in the development of health and alcohol-related policy;
(ii) the potential for using the framework in the development of AOD-related policy and services.
This Cracks in the Ice webinar was presented on Tuesday 9th August (AEST) by Ms Annalee Stearne. Annalee Stearne is a Nyungar woman from WA, undertaking a PhD study exploring First Nations Australians’ self-determination in alcohol-related harms in the Northern Territory.
