First Person Sourcing: Goodwill Outlet | How to Process a Weigh and Pay Store 

Always grab a big robe, curtain or blanket.. Any big clothing item to cover inside your cart while you shop.😉 I have lost many items by walk by snatchers and caught a few who just "didn't know" they say. 😏

Had watched a couple of your video's and subscribed and liked until you started cussing and getting all annoyed about people and their carts and kids in the carts. You are a pretty rude and hateful person. Normally I won't leave a negative reply I'll just move on, but really dude? You don't own the world. What I learned here is you are one of the people that makes going to the bins less enjoyable. Be Kind! There is enough and stuff for everyone. Good luck.

I get why it irritates you with the carts but try to remember not everyone is there for flipping. Some people have good reasons like they have no money and they certainly don't have money for child care. If the store doesn't make a rule against it , it should be tolerated. I loved the video!

Those Stuart Weitzman's were gorgeous! That heel was a cheap easy fix. I just got some Stuarts from Savers for $4. Deal of the year so far.

After watching this it's probably a better use of time to go to garage sales when the weather is nice.

Thanks for this video. I learned a lot from "buggy" etiquette to bending shoes to check the soles. Love the shoulder bag tip. I'll admit as I watched the 2nd time I felt the need for gloves and maybe even a dust mask. All the used footwear = bleccch! I've never heard of nor seen an outlet like this but $1/ea days can get grabby at my local thrift stores and I always forget to eat something first. Good video. Thanks for sharing how you process the items found here. I have been to these types of "dump bins" places many times. I love digging thru the junk. I have to say, though, that I dislike when the new bins come rolling out and the "locust attack" begins. We have been hit many times with the flying debris from the "locust". People are so dang rude! The cart/buggy comment....tuff noogies! It is bad enough that there are rarely enough carts for everyone.....and it is because people horde them! People take the carts, fill them up, cover them and then go get another cart. It would be ever so polite if they would fill them up as you suggested, go pay for them when full, dump the treasures in your car then come back and use (refill) the same cart. Too many times we see people with multiple carts, sorting thru their finds, throw the finds on the floor and then leave. The finds on the floor could have been in my cart! But noooo, they had to horde them. I am the person that no one likes cuz I bring my own cart and I walk it down the aisle as I shop. I am there to shop and I like my cart with me. OK, done with my "dump bins" rant! Thanks!

It looks like fun working in the warehouse. I did a little warehouse work in high school. Now that I have some college, work brings on a different workload. But I'm still the same guy I ever was.

shoes at the bins where I live are a source of entertainment for a few regulars to have fun while spending their day.got me once!when a super nice well branded shoe comes out they snatch em up and then shortly after place one in a bin on the top and watch someone dig and dig for the match all over the store.got me on a killer pair of sorel boots and I said never again. if I cant see both in my eyesight,then ill pass@!

I swore to never sell shoes again, so the fact that you can sell used shoes is pretty amazing to me. I had horrible luck with it.

When you walk in do the gates of heaven open up and god sings down upon you? I absolutely love the outlet. IDK what I'd do without it honestly.

I've never been to the bins before but from what I've heard from my area, if you want to be sure you will actually get what you've picked, you take your cart with you!

Much obliged for the info, video of inside and helpful tips. I had to skip past some of the speeded up parts, but that's OK. I love Texas people, y'all are so friendly and polite. Agree about people and personal space, it's the same in retail and grocery. Some people just don't get the etiquette.

Nice video. My wife and I stopped at the same Goodwill in Austin in January. We thought it was a really good experience. The first day while walking out, my wife found a cricket vinyl machine for $8 and sold it on Mercari for $106 in less then 12 hours.

Very interesting. At the end of the new row there was a Yellow boxed Rosetta Stone cd set worth good money. I wish they had something like this in Britain.

Great video, much bigger than our Weigh & Pay in Pensacola. But looks like less stuff, but that changes.

" Everyone hates the person who pushes their cart down the aisles" Thats funny you guys are allowed to put them against the wall.. its the polar opposite for us. If they catch your cart unattended theyll yell is it anyone's cart and lecture them, if no one claims it, they throw your stuff back in the bins lol. Also we surround the bins until they say shop. Racing would be a liability at ours.. people rip things out of your hands.. elbow people.. whip wires in your face etc. Racing would get so aggressive lol.

Our outlet doesn't zero out a cart and keep it on the scale... I like how yours operates.

I understand that you flip but everyone does. I for one need a cart for support. I walk with a cane and it's hard to hold on stuff plus walking back now forth is very tiring

Not sure if you sell any electronics but the very first thing in the 2nd you come to is a dvd/VCR Combo depending on brand it's an easy $45 up to over $100 and that's with no remote, wires or manual. I saw an easy cart full of stuff I would have grabbed but I understand everyone has their own niche. Electronics here at the GWO I go to are a dollar other then a few computer things which are $2.

At my local Goodwill Outlet in Orlando you must stay with your cart or they will empty it out for you. Going to the restroom can be a problem. When the shoes come out it is mayhem. I looks like 100 vultures going after some gresh road kill. The shoes a flying up in the air and the women are pushing and shoving until the security guard breaks it up. All of our clothing is 99 cents per pound. Its fun time for me. Usually at least one home run on each visit.

Can't believe you don't wear gloves while digging in the bins. The bins at the Goodwill outlet near me smell distinctly of feces. Be careful. Those bins (and the stuff in them) are crawling with dangerous microbes. 10:46 Babolat's a $200 tennis racket. Was the racket in that holder?? 20:47 I scanned that Elefun from the screen ... came up $99. 22:33 A $100+ camcorder if it works (people use 'em to digitize old tapes.) 24:14 Sequence For Kids: amazon sales rank of 487???

I found a nice pair of boots at the W&P. They were still tied together with a plastic tie. Everything looked great on inspection so I bought them. Got them home and was listing on ebay when I looked at the size. only then did I realize they were two different sizes. really close together too. like and 8 1/2 and an 9 . So I trashed them. True story.

Brother you are in a super local market for both selling local as well as scouring . Like a mixture of collage, tech , folk and hippie rolled up in a fat joint . But all kidding aside there are so many niches that one can pick from the capitalize on .

We take our carts with us... the only people that have carts against the walls are people with multiple full carts! Plus I'm not leaving my finds for other people to find! I've had people reach in my cart while pushing it so leaving it unattended is out!

We have a great GWO in Kansas City Mo. I've visited them in Denver, St Louis, Pensacola and Des Moines, and your outlet location looks worth visiting!

I am from San Antonio. I love Austin GW Outlet. San Antonio is about a quarter of the size and it takes them hours to refill bins. They use shovels. The bins are not on wheels like Austin. I just have too much stuff to list right now, so I cant go and dig.

At least she is keeping her child out of the bins. No reason she should need to get a babysitter for this. Please give people with little ones a break.

the way you go through the bins- you might as well no for the viewer also the music lends a frenzied aura to it.

The weigh and pay does have a lot of junk, but I have found some awesome scores at this weigh and pay. Since Goodwill started marking "Boutique Brands" at such outrageous prices, I have found tons of scores on jeans such as Lucky Brand and True Religion. I hit this exact spot about 3 times per week. ATX!!!

They won't let us leave our carts unattended here where I live.. love Goodwill Outlet!!

I'm not sure if you put your cart on the scale or you transfer from yours to another (it was hard to tell), but I always check the weight of my empty cart as soon as I step in the store. Too many times the scale isn't calibrated correctly and it will over charge you by a pound or two. Not too big of a deal, but every penny counts! I could go to our Outlet everyday. Oh, and I'm from Pittsburgh and say buggy, too....lol.

Love the video. Great information. But I have to watch in parts. Just a bit of feedback on motion sickness. I was able to last until about 19:30 before having to turn off the video because i felt sick. Perhaps have slightly shorter videos if you have the motion cam style.

Great video. Post your cart like that at the Goodwill Outlet in Des Moines IA and people will steal your stuff. I keep my cart at the end of the aisle I'm working on or closer. Glad you don't have that problem there.

The drier wopuld have done good as a local sell . Possibly a repurpose would by it .

Had to laugh at the comments about the kids and leaving carts in the way. You know my pain!! Lol :p I saw a man running for a stool yesterday at my G2 store. Ran full speed with his cart into another cart holding a sleeping toddler in a car seat. Wasn't pretty.

Great video. We don't have any bins near where I live so, It was nice to see what they look like inside. Those people with the "buggies/carts" would drive me crazy too! They are ignorant to the eithic that that store has. That's one of my pet pives! R u afraid people will pick through your cart while your looking through the bins? I have been going to the bins for about 6 months now. I wear rubberized work gloves because there is often broken glass as well as diry diapers, etc. in our bins. I haven't really tried to wait around to be first for new rows yet because people block the hole aisle with carts to the point where you can't even squeeze in. :/

Nice, but I am spoiled- I live 2 minutes from the Goodwill Boutique on Far West. Do not know if you have checked this one out- been open about 3 years. There is also a Goodwill Boutique in Westlake and the new one on Lamar.

When you went through the checkout, did you not weigh the shelfing unit? It looked like you put it on the counter. I thought your entire order would be weighed?

This vid taught me that the weigh and pay is not for me. I'd rather concentrate on the nicer stuff.

They don't shop like that in Nebraska they say keep you're cart with you or people will take you're stuff right out of you're cart if you leave it by itself from thinking that it is stuff to be put out so just wondering have people done that to you or other people taken their stuff right out of you're cart or theirs thinking it was stuff to be put out.

yes it is annoying when people have plenty of room to pull the cart over more. I try to do that but I can't go back and forth a long way to my cart because I have severe fibromyalgia and it's too painful. So you should have some compassion for people like me who needs our carts. Or have a child in them. Although she should have pulled it over more. Just say excuse me and push it out of your way. I should say that I have my granny cart that I personally take everywhere with me. That thing is expensive. So between that and my back machine and purse there is no way I am ever going to leave my personal cart at the end. I can't replace it easily. Especially on a fixed income​. I might leave a store cart somewhere but not mine. If people have a problem with my granny cart that isn't any bigger than another person they can just deal with it. Although I do try my best to keep it out of people's way there are times you just can'tz
