Great video of first planting of the season/year 2022!👍🏻 Tried to order the knife but they don’t ship to Hawaii.🙁 Looking forward to all the upcoming videos of the first year of 100% 🌸 farming! 😎🎉
Yay first planting of the season!!! I cannot wait to see a sea of color in your videos again. This is going to be yall best year ever! I just know it. 😄
Serina, you are a kindred spirit, I don't like straight lines either! (Or traffic jams, lol). And Ian, you're just the best ever! Can't put a thing in the ground without tending the soil first! Great teamwork!
I planted all of my Ranunculus upside down last fall. Yep. Won't be doing that again. I can't even believe that they could have all been started indoors. Well.... I'm just a gardening baby. So much to learn, so many useful mistake to make. Can't wait to see yours get tall and gorgeous not too long from now!
Can't wait to harvest tomatoes this year and get them straight into the freezer. What a Big time saving tip including the skinning time. Thank you Jan uk
Serina! I love it when you make stuff with the stuff that you grow- I am going to put my tomatoes in the freezer now, and Im going to try your tomato soup! I think I saw a little bit of the rhubarb when Ian was working outside, can you give us an update on that? I remember how much work it was for you guys transporting that to your new home! That tap root though! Wow!
Oh wow - I don't do this as a business, but I haven't started any of my cutting flowers yet. I was hoping to start mine and put them in my little weenie greenhouse to germinate.
I have found the no processing freezing tomatoes trick to be transformative to saving food while still dealing with a busy summer farm, so I like to share it
My Ranunculus only arrived on Thursday! (first year growing - I''m excited!) Soaked them overnight and planted them up today in the Polly tunnel, all snuggled up and covered! I think I'm behind! First year Flower grower, gone totally overboard on the seed front. Thank you for sharing! 😀
Have you thought of making a sign in front of your roadside stand with hooks that you can attach wood signs that you can change out with which veg and flowers you currently have for sale?
Random comment (and I’m sure you’ve gotten this before), but I just love your voice, Serina! It’s a very comforting sound. Keep up the great work and wishing you all the best in the 2022 season!
Great tips! I make tomato soup often but haven’t tried cream of tomato yet. We also LOVE Brie here and make grilled Brie with homemade sourdough bread 😍 What a great feeling to get that first few trays planted, you’ll be picking those gorgeous blooms before you know it 🌺🌼🌿☺️
@@sandrajohnson9926 :). Yes I have a starter that I’ve been keeping for 3 years now. It’s a simple recipe, 100g starter, 400g water, 500g spelt flour, 15g salt. I’ve sort of adapted it over the last few years but started with a recipe I found online. I use organic spelt because my husband has a hard time with conventional wheat.
Great job guys! Looking forward to following your journey this year. Serina that soup and grilled Brie 😋 👌 also - Serina "so much room for activities!"
This ain't your first rodeo! About a week behind you for planting out. Can't wait to be designing with your flowers again Thanks for the video and sharing your hard work and enthusiasm. You never disappoint🐐
So exciting seeing your ranunculus going in! Just got mine out under the low caterpillar tunnels and then the snow came and the temps dipped, typical Scottish spring weather! Can’t wait to see them. Great to see your spacing. I spaced mine roughly 9 inches but yours are closer to get the longer stems so might try that next time, thanks 😊 xx
I feel your pain for space, I just had to order more shelves and lights 🤦 and I just sell locally, nothing major LOL AND we are still 60% covered in snow outside 🤦
Great job! Looking forward to seeing your beautiful flowers. I have started my ranunculus already thanks to you. Never heard of them before and they are beautiful!!
I just placed an order for the Huusk knife. That was a great deal!! I never buy nice knives. Hopefully, this will last me my lifetime. Thank you, Serena. I'm jealous of the compost/organic matter.
Totally random tip When you have them planted in solid trays like that use a plastic fork it's a plastic fork. Pops them right out without cutting through any of the roots and makes it so easy.
Serena! I love love love your kitchen videos! You taught me how to slightly crack before boiling fresh chicken eggs so they will peel… u r a wizard in both the kitchen and the garden/farm!
It's great that you have all the colors! I will watch and learn all I can from ya'll! Next year I will try them!! Zone 8b north central Florida? See how they are gonna do?
Serina, this might work for you, since peeling tomatoes is not your favorite. I make sauce out of Juliets and Veronas and I don't even peel them. I just throw them in the blender before cooking them.
Daffodils definitely bloom before tulips. But people are less excited about them, and it's almost a little too early for starting sales on the farm. It might be something to think about in the future though, if the flowers really take off.
My Replete and Bridal Crown Daffs are blooming at the same time as my tulips. So later daffodil varieties may time the same as Tulips. (You can also extend the time, if you refrigerate in bud stage for either tulips or daffodil.)
I give them a polish to keep the dust out of the freezer, but we don't really wash any of our veggies. Though, I recommend washing to others - my system is pretty used to my hands and dirt, but I don't want anyone else to get sick in case they have an immune system that would struggle
Japanese Steel? as compared to Canadian steel? Makes me wonder if, in Japan, they sell the awesome Canadian Steel! When I measure distance, Thumb tip to middle finger tip = 6 inches, Thumb tip to pinky tip = 7 inches.
I used to work at a shoe store, so I know the lines on my hands that correspond to inches, because I would measure heel heights all day for customers, lol. My pointer finger to start of my thumb is my six inches
Those are the absolute WORST knives I have ever used. When i got mine, i made one cut with it and threw it in the trash (true story) complete junk. I suggest Everyone saves their money, seriously!
Perhaps a DIFFERENT product? My neighbor owns this, and her mom a retired CULINARY instructor both LOVE it. Please, next time DONATE to goodwill or similar outlet so another person can USE and appreciate unwanted items.
