I go through the first time I power on my new Yaesu FTDX-10. Once it's on I take it through the bands and listen around. I trey different filters and see how it sound.
Never. I’ll operate anything. Well I’ll try to anyway. I am just in the position that I could get a newly released rig so I did. I know it’s does a lot for me on the back end that other rigs wouldn’t. And I’m ok with that. I’m also a “NO KEY” ham. And I’m cool with that too. My radio will decode any CW and I have a computer that can send it. Modern times mean modern conveniences you know. One day I will learn CW but until then I’m ok being a no key too. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more and even embarrassing content to come out this week.
Get a QRM BOX from dx engineering. They work awesome. You do have to use 2 antennas but the second antenna can be anything, it's just for phasing, even a cb magnet mount. They got a Good one the WiMo QRM Eliminator 26000 $200 and the awesome NCC-2 for about $900. Or a MFJ version if you like They work 👍 .
I have one arriving on Monday, Woo! Hoo!. After watching this,,,,,,,, I'm not sure that i'm smart enough to operate it. Fortunately,,, I have an Elmer with one. Thanks for the video. 73 KN4UXO
I know I am not smart enough for it. But I do love it. I will have more videos coming out soon on it. Going through some of the different mode and filtering options. Thanks for watching.
Awesome litte radio! I'm very happy with my IC-756 Pro3 as my main rig, but i'm tempted to get this one to add to my rig stable, since it was recently rated as the #3 receiver by Sherwood. My guess is that it would probably best the Pro3 in receiver performance, but not by much.
I am fortunate that I get to operate a 756 Pro III on the Battleship North Carolina with my local club. I love that radio. But I do like the dx 10 just a bit more. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to follow my journey through ham radio.
I have Icom 7300 it very nice set I've played this radio on my friend I've fell in love with it very good in coming audio over my Icom 7300 you have more control on this set over 7300. DX10 is on my shopping am hoping next couple months I will be having it.
I absolutely love it. Once I am a bit better and the filtering I plan on doing another video explain some of the features. 73 and I hope to catch you down the log. KQ4CIA
Great radio ! It will take you some time to be able to fully utilize all the features and learn everything about the radio. I've thought about buying a good speaker for my Icom 7300, but the price has made we wonder if it is worth the $$$. Could you do a sound comparison sometime between the built in speaker and your accessory speaker. I've never seen anyone do this. The Yaesu sounds great.
Sure. That’s a great idea. I might take a couple of days to get to. My local Club is hosting a POTA site Sunday and I am cooking for it. But I will get to it by Wednesday for sure.
The SP-30 speaker designed for the FTDX-10 sounds better than the internal speaker. The speaker that was designed for the Icom 7300 has been discontinued. But they still make the one for the 7610. Makes me think they may discontinue the 7300 soon its 8 years old now.
What power supply do you recommend or are you using for this dx10? Just looking to get my first rig, and trying to figure out everything I need to buy. What else do I need to buy separately besides the power supply and antenna? Thank you!
Your power needs will be based on your transceivers power consumption. Note that I would buy a non switching power supply. My FTDX 10 draws a constant 14 amps when transmitting but can spike at 24-28. I had a 30 amp switching power supply that could not keep up. For extra stuff to buy the minimum needs are simple: Radio Power supply Coax for antenna Antenna And unless you buy an antenna that is resonate you will need an antenna tuner. If you are looking for specific recommendations then just email so we can chat a bit about what your needs and wants are. Justin Kq4cia@gmail.com
W is this the new radio that is poised as the new top of the line YAESU or is the company not going to offer a big box top of the line radio that would compete with ICOM IC7851 ????
This is Yaesu l’s answer to the IC 7300. So it’s not going to have all of the top of the line features. It is a great radio and I love it. It’s basically an entry level contest rig.
lol the tuner for ant, must be placed on the entry< point of antenna, in this constelation u send with the masses of cable too in the shak, on all edges u have HF builds .. dont use an ant tuner on them table, go to the entry point .. unbeliverd.
sorry i missed this for so long. The external tuner is not needed most of the time. The rigs internal will do almost every band. But for 160 meters i do still need it.
Why don't peaple look on utube at all the other vidios peaple have put ...they all seem to make the same vidios off the same thing..they need to get out more and find a life
Well I am not sure. I personally don't do it to duplicate anything on purpose if I do, but to make a video from my point of view. Or how I did something. In my life I have seen a lot of ways to skin a cat. And it is nice to find a new way every now and then. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
