This man treated my sister when she first got ill. I think he really helped her and my family and helped her get on the right medication (clozapine) that took her symptoms away. This was back in 1995. So cool to see him still fighting the good fight. I remember he got into the profession after his best friend got schizophrenia when he was a teen.

Does he also incorporate therapy for the patients? I only hear the part about the medicine. What about vitamin deficiencies?
@objectivityisourfriend9631
@objectivityisourfriend9631 9 месяцев назад
Vitamins can't do much for severe paranoid schizophrenia, sorry. It runs in our family as my grandfather had it. Maybe it can help someone who has far less severe condition. Clozapine is for treatment-resistant. All other medications and antipsychotics failed. As for therapy, he is a psychiatrist. They deal with medication. Psychologists do therapy. @@modenise2921

I had psychosis when I smoked a whole bowl in like two seconds. I have bipolar II. Never had psychosis before that or after, even when smoking smaller amounts. My sister has schizophrenia though, and weed totally brought it on. Our grandfather also had it.

I wish I had found this video a year ago when my spouse started exhibiting these behaviors. I somehow missed it all thinking it was just an attempt to to get back at me. I believe there where multiple traumas with the worst being a year ago trying to save our puppy. We where dismissed all over Texas. $20k with no diagnosis and then a dead puppy. This lasted 6 months and my spouse never seemed to be able to accept. I tried so many times to get help. MHMR crisis team missed it as recently as a couple months ago. Now my spouse has been in an ER 1500 miles from home with our new pup. Driving that distance thinking space ships where en chase. Threatening suicide if I didn’t call them off. I have dealt with families in crisis for 34 years and when it was my own I completely missed it. This video could be a script to my past year.

My son 20 had his first psychosis episode following an intoxication cannabis. In the Brain scan there is a discreet biparietal cortical atrophy. Which coincidence is this my God. The psychiatrist said that s not the cause of his episode.He had medication as soon as possible. He doesn't want to believe that and some time he want to stop every thing except marijuana. The big problem is that we have to wait a while for the addiction treatment. I hope you could explain to me more.

psychotic break was prednisone induced. angry extremely critical of others. fearful of everyone. I had been a volunteer in a local senior center where I was volunteering a lot. just randomly helping others in need. started doing the things where paid staff were just sitting there when people needed help. then as prednisone was taking over even more, I was unaware that I perceived myself as doing the staffs job . became intensely anger and aggressive towards 2 staff members that was triggered when they both had said "it is not my job description to help the seniors in the dining Room. I was un-aware I my loud aggressive behavior and was permanently kicked out of the senior center. I remember the incident somewhat but really was un-aware of my behavior or the incident as it was occurring. I think this was a psycho break WAS IT OR WAS IT NOT. RESPECTFULLY REQUEST AN ANSWER
@Bikewithlove
@Bikewithlove 4 года назад
It sounds like you were overworked and you burned out. Prednisone alone shouldn’t make you angry - it sounds more like you yourself are saying that you were angry because you didn’t properly sort out your job description with your supervisor and your boundaries got crossed. Eat well & get enough sleep. You can’t drink or take drugs when you have a demanding job. Drugs & alcohol will severely de-regulate you and distort your emotional perspective over time. Next job you get, set some boundaries early on, and don’t do anyone any favors you’ll regret later. They’re paid to do their job, and you’re paid to do yours. If your boss expects you to do other people’s jobs and you can’t talk with them about it, then it’s time to get another job. I hope this helps - and by the way, DON’T TYPE IN ALL CAPS. IT MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE AN INSANE PERSON ;)

If you are an expert, such as being a psychiatrist, or a physicist, a mathematician, etc., then you are confined to being within the barriers of your own specific expertise. This will limit your perception of reality, enormously. However, if you focus upon lateral thinking and lateral learning, you will not be confined to such barriers. You will in turn be able to perceive reality to far greater an extent. However, since you do not have the credentials of being any one of today's selections of "experts", you will be regarded as being a no one, a nothing, a loser, a "jack of all trades and master of none" at best. Meanwhile, if you were born with a gullible brain that accepts input without even questioning that input before accepting it, then you will suck up knowledge like a sponge sucks up water. You will whip through grade school, high school, and university, and pop out the other end with multiple PhD's. You will be regarded as being the opposite of a "jack of all trades and master of none". You will in turn never see what schizophrenia really is, and not by a long long long shot indeed.

So... do you know what schizophrenia really is?
@new-knowledge8040
@new-knowledge8040 6 лет назад
Sadly, it does not relate to anything that people are currently aware of, nor anything they have ever heard of.
@PutinsMommyNeverHuggedHim

PhDs do not have gullible brains that are like sponges. They are the intelligent who can be likened to someone panning for gold - they retain the correct knowledge, and let go of incorrect knowledge because they’re intelligent enough to distinguish between the two. The people have extensive knowledge of research and decades of experience working with patients/sufferers, studying and testing the brain and behavior, as well as medication. My cousin and my brother in law both suffer from schizophrenia, and without the intervention of skilled experts, they would be dead years ago. Your statements sound like they are generated by someone who has an unhealthy suspicion and distrust of true experts in the field, and who has not one clue how education actually works. I suggest you do not spread such harmful biases to the rest of the gullible public. I did have the suspicion that there would be an unsound and flawed comments under a video regarding people suffering with reasoning issues.

@Flat Sign The OP’s comment was very disparaging towards people who have dedicated their entire lives towards researching and treating mental illnesses. Nobody is attempting to “gauge” the true amount of suffering- suffering is a subjective state and cannot be quantified. And I’m unaware of any tremendous debate among the experts on the cause and treatment- in fact, decades and decades of research has brought forth a working theory that has held water, and the majority of experts are more or less in general consensus. Can you elaborate a little further on what these two sides are disagreeing on, specifically?
