github.com/bla... IBM Experimental School's Computer project started in 1966, and ended in 1970, after having built a prototype and several trial machines.
This was before microprocessors and used the IBM SLT technology that was in the IBM 360, working in decimal (BD) and had a 32 bit core store and registers. There were also a pair of 64 bit registers.
The instruction set was of two types, one was a more conventional set (with some higher level instructions for input and output) and one was an 'extracode' set which was implemented with code in the first instruction set, which was executed as instructions (with opcodes in a special range).
