Josh, I currently have a 2006 Dodge 2500 5.9l Big Horn Edition. I like it a lot, especially the engine performance. It is stock except for a straight pipe and cold air intake. I also had a 2005 LLY and I loved the smooth power, the sound of the engine and the allison trans. I have a 48RE built trans with billet input, stage 1 kit and new solenoids triple disc converter.. The drop off between 2nd and third is annoying however the engine pulls it back ok. I was a Service Director for a GMC dealership as well as a Medium Duty and HD Truck dealer, been to every school for Cummins, Cat, Detroit, Mercedes, Volvo and Hino, certified in all. I think the Cummins engine is stronger in the long run but the Duramax is more powerful in stock form. The issues we had with the early LB7's just about got me shot. My 2005 Silverado 2500 was rusting down around me but the mechanicals were perfect. I sold it because I was diagnosed with a disease that I thought would end my camping, it didn't and the only truck I could find was this Dodge. I thought I would hate it but I don't. I love the Quad Cab, the solidity of the body, the comfort of the interior. I hate the suspension, the oversize of the cabs exterior dimensions, the height of the vehicle and a few other things. Overall I think you can't beat a Cummins engine for durability, ease of access for maintenance and repair. You can't beat a Duramax for smoothness, quiet operation and initial power. I guess it all gets down to personal choice and what you want to do with it. I pull a 5th wheel camper and both have handled that chore quite well. I get about 17.5 mpg pulling it and did with both. FYI

I can’t remember if the white wire is a pull or a hold but test it on the bench first to see then u will know where the wires need to go

Josh that solenoid is a very simple system. All solenoids need a power and a ground and they trigger just like a relay works. One of the three wires is a pull and the other 2 is power and ground. So put the red to batt positive and black to batt neg and the white to crank signal from the key. Then when u turn key off aka ignition the solenoid will drop back.

double check your oil pressure sending units i had a cummins and the sending unit on the oil pressure was bad and would not let the shut off stay on like it should

Your hold in supply wire is dropping voltage. So figure out what the hold in wire is tied to and that will be the problem

My 24v was a lot of fun when it was running but I would never want one again biggest waste of money and time for a truck that keeps falling apart around the Motor. Would rather have a stock Duramax or just a gas Chevy truck there more comfortable and reliable in the long run.

Hi truck master, I’m hoping you or someone in the comments can help me with my Allison. I keep getting “shift range inhibited” on my LBZ when putting it into reverse after the transmission is warm (when cold there’s no issue). Trans fluid is at the correct level, I check after 30 minutes of driving. I’d like to hear if anyone has had a similar issue. I know many electrical components can act up, but it only happens when warmed up so I don’t really want to throw a bunch of electronics at it quite yet. Any insight would be appreciated.

Love dodge but had two not diesels but same issues with weird wiring things happening over time. Had two powerstrokes not a single problem out of either and one being a 6.0. Honestly the 6.0 was a monster. Now got me a lmm 08 duramax stock. Have a 4 inch full exhaust and 3 inch down pipe not installed yet and a mini max got it at 96k for a steal. Any suggestions on what I should do. With budget in mind I mean?

I have a 91.5 dodge was six in a row under the hood I bought it in 1998 it’s got over 500,000 miles on it and it’s doing pretty darn good for me I got a couple little issues with it of course but I just fixed the leak on the return line and there’s a little steel line in between a five eights rubber line coming off the fuel tank and there’s a hard plastic line coming up to the tank well that’s got a hole in it you’re a rusty and you’re gonna find this deal it’s a 5/16 on one end and a quarter inch on the other so I just learned that the hard plastic line inside the car fuel line comes off the tank which I replace to put a new one in there on there too anyway a fixed leak put the bed back on the wall was there power wash the frame in the back and put this are real good rust preventative material there’s a guy near Franklin PA he’s called Les Friction he sell some really good stuff for rust preventative goes on penetrates in real nice and it sets up not hard but it doesn’t wash off the stuff is fantastic anyhow I’m not advertise for him I’m just telling you what I did but your Dodge still goes good I can go out in the dead of winter time I mean zero weather put my heat grid on give it about a quarter throttle and hit the key and I’ll bet that engine doesn’t turn over three times and it’s running I bought the truck out in Seattle Washington and subcontract to an office called cheap tow he bought the very first Dodge with a Cummins in it in Seattle and that truck had over 750,000 miles on it and it was still a reliable truck nothing was towing the whole time yeah I know Dodge didn’t do too well on quality issues on the rest of the truck the frames aren’t bad old truck of mine kind of rides like an Amish buggy but that’s OK a guy offer me even upper 1500 ram oh 18 and I turned them down and I just like the old six cylinder 12 valve got a Hamilton cam stage two head on it and stuff like that it’s nothing radical but it runs good all right your Duramax is a hell of a truck two good trucks

You can always eliminate the fuel shutoff solenoid. Go to the local car parts store and get a choke cable. You can make a manual setup
