I Hooked My Wife’s Duramax To The Sled! Not Good! 

Never thought I would ever do this 😂 are you guys interested in these sled pull videos? I had a lot of fun making this

Yes I'd love to see more stuff like this, the dirt pulls, maybe some 4 wheeling , husband vs wife,, diff stuff. Gives you a direction and a goal to get to also. Awesome video, keep it up.

A better tune for sure will help, but when that weight hits on the sled you're stopping now! When I pulled with my 99 7.3L with just a php 6 pos chip, 6637 intake, and 5in exhaust my best was 255.4ft. I used 4L, O/D off, put it in Drive till I felt her shift into second, then locked it into 2nd with the shifter, also aired my tires down from 75psi to between 20-30 psi.

Loved to show man, if I’m not mistaken my personal opinion is your getting more fuel then air Ratio is off, tuning Maybe look into the bank Idash, it allows you to data log and see everything, might be worth ordering unless you allready have a data monitor and can watch all your parameters

The Wifemax did great. While others were having problems. The Wifemax kept on pulling. You will get it figured out what you need for next year. You have nothing to be disappointed about . Like you said . You never did this before. Now you know what you need.

That sounded and looked awesome! Definitely started out with great RPMs and momentum, but it’s like the converter locked up or I can’t tell if it shifted up, but it definitely went tall on you when the sled started really digging down and that’s when you lost your RPMs. This will be a great video for Professor Mark and Ryan to analyze. You have all of the hard-core parts to make that a perfect sled pulling truck, just a little tweaking here there that’s all! So glad you did it Josh! Hope you keep going with it on that platform , can’t wait to see the Dyno pulls!

It’s shifting up to third. You’re mainly pulling in 2nd until you get more ground speed then it’s shifting up. Pull in 2nd unless you get get more horsepower to be able to power through and hold 3rd

I agree with Kyle on the assessment. It's also not how fast u go it's how far u pull it. 4x4 low and tow haul. It's easier to hold the gear with a 6 speed manual mode. Or shift yourself from 1-2.

Great video man! If you wanna keep sled pulling you need to get your tuner to set you up with a 3rd gear start trans tune if your starting out in first gear that’s why you keep pushing through the brakes get you a 3rd gear start and you’ll be able to get up on the charger real good without pushing through and hold 3rd gear the whole run unless you have enough wheel speed to catch 4th without snuffing it and use 4wd lo if you weren’t already as far as the dying off could be tuning your tuner has a certain RPM that cuts the fuel may need to data log it and send it to your tuner so he can raise the RPM cut off for fuel but I am by no means an expert just sharing my thoughts with the little experience I have sounds like the truck shifts to 4th and it snuffs it also look into getting you a manual converter lock up box at the end of the track when the pan hits on the sled and starts to slow it down unlock your converter it will help your wheel speed and allow the tires to spin if your converter is still locked at that low of RPM it will load the motor too hard and snuff the truck the manual lock up box will help you wonders In sled pulling also if you have ever noticed in 4wd the duramax will spin the driver side front tire way faster then the passenger side when the truck comes under load and starts to spin all 4 tires all the power goes to the left tire try airing down your driver side front tire just a hair more then the passenger side front and if you ever run a class where you can use hanging weights off the front shift your weight to the drivers side so it loads that wheel harder and helps you get more spin out Of the passenger front side

Good job on your first time pulling. Pulling is an expensive hobby but it’s a great time and you meet awesome people in that sport. Hopefully next year I get my truck back together and back on the track and make it to Cole’s truck meet.

Retune and she'll rip! This is such an addictive sport. We have one in Allegan Wednesday and one in Centreville on Sunday. I could feel your first time jitters, thats real to me and well done!

Far as pulling through the brakes i have that same issue on the 1/4 mile track. Trying to stage and build boost she pulls through the light. It almost seems like your trans hits that high rpm shift and drops the power. Something in the shift points. But even still it was pulling nice from the start. I wish i would have made it out. Next year for sure tho. Idc who's getting married im not going to their wedding, sorry not sorry lol. Great job Josh.

Your SERVICE AIRBAG put it in limp mode. lol My truck has displayed that for quite awhile now. Do you think if I ever get around to doing the airbag recall fix it will fix the warning light? Just got my CTS3 today from Ryan's along with a TCM and erased all the codes but that one still comes on the dash. I've learned so much from you in a short period of time. Thank you buddy.

Great job Josh. Look at the sled weight in-motion and when you drop off in power. I'm sure Ryan and Mark know the Duramax stuff, but I'm unaware of their tuning platform(s). Nick at Duramax tuner in Illinois is pretty good with this stuff and I have watched many of his videos on the XMSN issues with "tuned" Duramax trucks. Sounds like you need a custom tune. ( PCM and XMSN) Just my .02 from Duluth...

With how dirty it's running and how much more smoke than your producing than everybody else and new tune is kinda a given but great work on you first couple hooks! It's a blast

Kinda looked like you lost fuel rail pressure to me. Did the tune bump up the rail pressure? I would guess it does. Did you remove the high pressure fuel relief valve and put a blocker plug in it? Might be as simple as that. I've never pulled with my Duramax but I did pull with a gen 1 Dodge Cummins a couple times. Was a lot of fun. The automatic transmission didn't like it too much though. Lol

Ever figure out what was going on with the truck? Almost seemed like low fuel pressure like the lift pump can’t keep up.

Lb7s are very stout. Seen a few over 1000hp on stock bottom ends hold up for quite some time.

What does tow/haul mode do for you when running it in manual 3rd? I thought it just adjust shift points to stay in the power band. It seems like your trans tuning could be adjusted, like the converter was unlocking.

Try to build boost before you start to go you might get a better
