I’m so glad you saw how “black” this album is, every member of this band loved the American folk, blues/R&B artists . @MsAppassionata

@@peterbartolomeo5542 The Beatles were NOT just a “ Pop Rock commercial“ band. They defied any particular genre. Plus, their ability to experiment in the studio made it possible for virtually every band that followed them (including LZ) to follow suit. That should NEVER be underestimated. As for live performances, I don’t claim that The Beatles were as virtuosic in terms of featuring solo, standout performances by the individual members but, that was not their forte. They operated more as a single unit, in service to their songs. Totally different approach to playing. Besides, the only time most of the general public got to hear them at their best (or nearly their best, for all we know) was at their short rooftop concert in 1969. John Lennon once said that their best live shows occurred in Hamburg before they even became famous.

@@peterbartolomeo5542 The Beatles remain the best band of all time imho. They revolutionized pop and rock music. No other band evolved and reinvented themselves as much as they did, and no other band released as many great songs as they did or such a variety of music. For sure, Led Zeppelin is a great band, with amazing guitarwork and drumming, and so many epic, complex tracks. Ultimately it's probably like comparing apples and oranges!
@figaroofoo5930

@@peterbartolomeo5542The point is that they always have to include the Beatles in any comparison to praise other artists, like in this case the subject of the main comment who knows that there is no band bigger than the Beatles who necessarily compares them to Led Zeppelin to give them more prominence, that says a lot, don't you think?

When this album was released, I was in college. A friend of mine got the album and told a bunch of us, "You have to come and listen to this". We all went into his room, and our jaws dropped as we listened to this album. We thought we had died and gone to music heaven. When Led Zeppelin II came out, the same friend bought it and told us all, "You won't believe me, but this one is even BETTER". We all laughed at him, but soon we realized that he wasn't lying. And so it went with all first four albums. It was just incredibly good music with a heavy blues influence. Just listen to Robert Plant's voice. He is a blues singer. And John Bonham was one of the greatest drummers of the 20th century. Everyone in that group was an extraordinary talent.

Both bands very musically diverse as well (as were the Stones and the Whoo, too). 24:50 You’re so fukking right, the best white music comes from black music influences. Led Zeppelin is an amazing band tough
@HBMediaFilms
@HBMediaFilms 7 месяцев назад
100% right. Rock was pioneered by black artists. Made mainstream by acts like Elvis Presley who had many black artists writing his songs and giving him songs because radios wouldnt give airtime to black artists, and giving them to Elvis was the only way they could make real money out of them. The Beatles were always open about how much they got from artists like Chuck Berry and Little Richard
@456012
@456012 7 месяцев назад
@@HBMediaFilmsbut just as many black artists had white people writing their songs. Hound dog by sister Rosetta Thorpe for example, one of the most famous rock songs ever written by 2 white guys. And into the 60’s and 70’s white artists were widely covered by black artists and had some of their biggest hits- all along the watchtower by Hendrix, proud Mary by Tina turner to name a few. Further, it’s true that Elvis had an advantage because of his race in the 50’s, but it’s really not why he was such a next level cultural force and continues to be now. He has one of the greatest most instantly recognizable voices ever and was an incredible song interpreter and had amazing charisma. There were plenty of other genius white rock artists of that era (buddy holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins) who aren’t nearly as culturally ubiquitous now. So his legacy can’t just be chalked up to his race, or those other dudes would be just as famous as well. Elvis had something truly unique and special.
@456012
@456012 7 месяцев назад
You could argue the same for black music, considering 20th century black American music was based almost entirely on white European instruments - piano, saxophone, guitar, trumpet, etc.

Great reaction video!! The most notable reaction I took from you was how wild Jimmy page kept getting in this album. The best way I can explain this is that Jimmy was so much more talented on the guitar than any body who came before him and he wanted to show case his talents on this album, and what a job he did. That “sound” you heard on “Dazed and Confused” was actually a violin bow on his guitar. It was amazing what he was able to do on both electric and acoustic. Another thing that I want to point out is the area where they grew up in in England had a major musical influence from American Blues. Albums where brought back from shipping routes by Long shore man during the American jazz/blues period. That area of England feel in love with American Blues/jazz. From that Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones grew up playing and listening to that type of music. When they formed their own band, their love for Blues/Jazz continued. That’s why you have Songs like “You Shook Me” “I Can’t Quit You Baby” and “How Many More Times” sound similar to Blues music with added heavy focus on guitar because they wanted to give what they grew up loving a new Rock and Roll Twist. As you listen to more albums you will notice a Pattern.

Beatles are not just kings of pop, they are gods at everything they did. From the vast amount of genres they performed/created, to the innovative studio techniques, and their musical and cultural impact that still lives on today. Led Zeppelin are the gods of hard rock for sure, even if many late 60s bands, including the Beatles, influenced it greatly, as well as the rest of the unholy trinity, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. They took blues and made it louder, eventually becoming hard rock as we know it today. Both bands are like in the top 5 best bands of all times, Beatles are obviously number one for me, but I love them both ❤️.

The white kids in the segregated 1950s weren't exposed to the essential music of black artists (blues, R&B, etc such as Robert Johnson) due to middle class racism. Meanwhile British kids in the 50's could more easily hear those artists and were heavily influenced by the blues/R&B. As young adults in the 60's, that whole generation of Brits had a very different, more soulful vibe, which they exported back to the US as the British Invasion. That was fortunate, but at the same time it was sad that Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Stones, etc. had to reintroduce white middle America to its own rich heritage.

Dude I want to see you go through the whole history of rock music. It makes me so happy seeing someone hearing this stuff for the first time. Can't wait to see you get to 70s punk rock and 80s/90s alternative rock like Pixies, MBV, Nirvana, Pumpkins. Before you leave the 60s though you MUST experience Hendrix. Electric Ladyland is an all-time classic. But from where you are now, Ziggy Stardust, Raw Power, Never Mind the Bollocks.... that'll get you where you're going..

LZ2 is gonna be further development of the “hard blues rock, which is wonderful, If you looking for the more laidback zep, LZ3 is gonna be where you find that except for the first track, LZ 4 has a more muddled vibe due to a transition phase but is full of bangers, I would describe it as “intriguing and interesting”, HotH is beautiful, just beautiful, and then you get to Physical Graffiti, if I’m to make a prediction your gonna really fall in love with this band, once someone does a deep dive of the, it’s hard to come back out the same, cheers bro

Next check out their second album Led Zeppelin II and this time don't use genius, because it can take away some of the surprises the tracks sometimes have in them in tempo changes. I would say that for Led Zeppelin the experience is not primarily in the lyrics; it's in the music. Another tip: Try to pick up on how amazingly well John Bonham is on the drums. It may take a second listen, but in the realm of drumming he is as impressive as Jimmy Page is on the guitar and Robert Plant is with singing :)

That's kind of how I felt after listening I'm glad somebody else confirmed it 😂 This is a lot more about the feeling the surprises the build up. I've been listening to this since the reaction and the drumming definitely jumped out at me today I can't wait to hear II

This album just entirely shook up the music scene when it dropped on the scene! One of the best, most influential debut albums of all time. The only band whose debut album that was equally as impactful is Boston. The Beatles ruled the '60s, Zeppelin dominated the '70s, and then Boston dropped a hell of an album to close out the decade and usher in the '80s. What a time to be alive.

Dude I love XXXTentacion too! But I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin. I still remember the time this album truly hit me. I was only 13 and it took a few listens but something compelled me to give it more listens until it eventually warped my mind and soul and played a huge part in who I am today.

The first few Zeppelin albums are basically god-tier immitations. Half the time they're immitating black blues, the other half they're imitating European folk music. Wait til you get to Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy, where they've mastered their OWN sound.

The Beatles is a great foundation for rock appreciation. If you have manage to listen to every Beatles Album, that makes you officially a fan. And you graduate to General Rock Fan. Grats. Appreciate what was, and what is no longer. And yes you are right, It is a little one note, but it was a debut over 50 years ago

concerning lyrics of '60s rock songs: most of the time we couldn't understand most of them and we never knew for sure (no internet/no google) until/unless the lyrics were printed somewhere on the album cover, so not knowing what they're about is actually truer to the '60s experience

Okay if Crazy Train is what got you into Rock music, you gotta listen to Black Sabbath soon (Ozzy Osbourne who sings Crazy Train in 1980 is the vocalist in Sabbath). It's kind of the logical continuation of Led Zep, their first two albums were released in 1970 and they're the first Heavy Metal band; Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple were the "Unholy Trinity" of Rock.
