I'm glad you finally reacted to Lay!!! Him and Kai are really the main dancers of EXO (originally when EXO K & EXO M still existed). If Kai is always more on ballet and jazz and lyrical Lay is more on pop and lock and smooth. You can check out some videos of them dancing together. And then he's also a lead vocalist. His rapping just came out more on his solos. But basically he can do everything. He composes, produces, and arranges his pieces too. I hope you would react to more of LAY. he's a main dancer, and he does a lot of the backing vocals in EXO. When Tao left is when he started rapping in the Chinese versions. If you ever get around to watching their Playboy fancams from 2015 the ONLY version that I like is Lay's. Even back when my ult was Kai, Lay just had so much control over his body that I couldn't take my eyes off him.

My love getting the recognition he deserves 🥰 All I can say is Yixing is truly one of a kind, and I wanted to include a bit of his story if you’re interested. That body control you complimented him on is the result of literal blood, sweat, and tears. He used to tie sand bags to his waist when he practiced to improve his control and speed, and it has permanently injured his waist. The sacrifices he made for his art is something that I truly respect. He pulled himself up from being a background character in SM’s oversea expansion plan to the superstar he is today.

Fun fact; So Lay is in a show called Street Dance of China along with Jackson Wang and Wang Yibo . It still hasnt aired but professional dancers who were taking part in the shooting of the show said he is an insane dancer that they were all shook . He is as of now the Ambassador of Street Dance in the whole of China and is helping bring dance competition to the olympics.

As a dancer myself, I do keep up with Lay. Aside from knowing that he is an MJ fan, I also see MJ characteristics in many of his moves. Mj was a perfectionist and when it comes to me watching Lay perform, I see someone that has very high standards set for himself. His moves are sharp, very well controlled and very emphasized. By emphasized I mean his moves are so accentuated that each part is telling you exactly what he wants to tell you. I could watch him perform all day. Also, he'd need a body guard if he actually made the mistake of asking someone to be his honey. All kinds of people who throw themselves at him.

the fact that he's just dancing for the "extra" pull to people (forgot his statement but it's kinda like that) shows that he worked really hard for that. we all know that lay loves singing more than anything else and i'm just happy to see him and his work being recognized. support his upcoming comeback!

For any of us that know EXO, and especially Lay, "Honey" is kind of exactly what we would expect from him.This is just the sexy, cool kind of song and amazing choreography that Lay is known for. All the guys want to be him and all the girls want to be with him. If you look at the credits for this album, Lay actually wrote and composed and produced this song and the whole album himself, including the English lyrics. Yes I am sure he had consultants who helped him find the right words, but if you know him, you know that he is a perfectionist and there is almost nothing that he is involved in that he doesn't have 100% control of himself. When it comes to Lay's solo work he does it all himself -- he writes, composes and produces the songs (including the rap sections), he even creates all his own beats, he has a large part in choreographing the dances and he has a hand in coming up with and directing the MVs. There really is almost nothing he can't do. That's including learning English so he could make a crossover into the U.S. music market. "Honey" is another one of Lay's solo English songs and It's in English because I think it was a follow up to his previous album "Namanana". "Namanana" was a half English/half Mandarin album and it was his American debut release as part of his U.S. tour and promotions. Every Mandarin song on his "Namanana" album has an all English version. You heard Lay listening to his song "Give Me a Chance" on his headphones at the beginning of the "Honey" MV and that is one of his songs and MVs from his "Namanana" album. Because Lay is not allowed to promote in Korea right now, SM has found a way to promote Lay as part of EXO's storyline by partnering with him to release English songs and to tie his MVs in with EXO's story. Everything EXO does, including several of Lay's solo releases (but not all of them), ties into the fact that he is a member of EXO -- it's SM's way of making sure that even though he might not be able to work with the members right now, that they still make sure to show fans that his storyline and presence as part of EXO is still really important to both Lay and SM. Lay is one of the top dancers in the industry and it's his solo work where he really gets to showcase what an amazing dancer he really is. He is the main dancer of EXO-M and he is the counterpart to Kai's role in EXO-K. Kai and Lay are both main dancers, lead vocalists and sub-rappers in their EXO units, so it's no surprise that Lay is an amazing dancer. 🤩 That is why most of the time when you see solo dance breaks in EXO concerts you will see Lay and Kai dancing together because they are 2 of the top dancers in the industry and they were meant to fill similar roles in their respective sub-units in EXO. When it comes to anything involving one of the members of EXO, even their solo work, you have to keep in mind how absolutely everything they do is connected and it is all designed to tell another piece of EXO's story. So, to really understand the story in this MV you have to first understand EXO's concept and origin story. The concept for EXO as a group is that they are aliens who came to Earth to protect the Tree of Life from the evil Red Forces and each of the 9 members of EXO (originally 12 members) have superpowers. So, to explain the story in Lay's "Honey" MV, some fan theories say that the fact that the weather lady on the TV is talking about the changing weather and the pressure system could be a nod to the unsettled conditions within EXO's current storyline and how currently the members are struggling to distance themselves from the Red Force, etc. And because you hear her speaking with a British accent this might be a clue to tell us where Lay is right now within EXO's storyline, and it might explain why the other EXO members seem to be sending him messages -- as we see with the bee and the blackout, etc. Most of the members powers have weather and nature elements that could be affected by and affecting the weather around the world. Some theories say, the mechanical bee has been sent by either one or more of the EXO members or it could be sent by the Red Force. The bee is either a message or a warning sent to Lay (although I am not fully confident as to what that exact message is.) And I think, the fact that the bee passes through the glass, might be Kai using his power of teleportation to allow it to pass through it -- or more like, transported to the other side of the glass. And then the lights in the entire city go out as if in a blackout, which I think might be Baekhyun using his power which is the ability to control light or Chen who has the ability to control electricity. Also, I think it's interesting that Lay, as a member of EXO, has the power of healing, and honey is known for its natural homeopathic healing and medicinal propitiates. And in parts of the MV we see Lay submerged in a pool of honey almost as if he might be using it to recharge and gain strength. I have no idea what this all means, but I just thought it was an interesting parallel. On the flip side, the story in the MV also is saying that Lay is a bee and he is looking for his "honey" that's why he is in a honey comb or in a pool of honey the whole time. I think what he is saying in the lyrics is that "Be my honey and be available to me when I want you, but 'please don't catch no feelings' because you have to know that we can have fun together, but I can't invest all my time and energy into you the way I should if we were in a relationship." In other words, he is too busy and too popular to be exclusive right now. He needs to keep the girl at a safe distance for both of their emotional safety, etc. Some say the "girl" is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members of EXO are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all of EXO's songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. Which could possibly explain the lyrics in "Honey" if you think of the girl as the heart, it might explain why Lay "wants her" but needs to keep her at a distance to protect her, etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life, you begin to see even more parallels to EXO's story and even more ways to connect even more of it all together. Did you notice that the spinning honey comb symbol in this MV is actually EXO's logo? The hexagon is EXO's symbol and if you pay close attention at that spinning honey comb you will see that it says EXO in the middle as it spins. So even as a solo artist, Lay and SM find a way to make sure that we never forget that he is part of EXO and that even if he isn't allowed to talk about the group, he makes sure to show just how important they still are to him. As you can see, EXO's MVs are more complex then what you see on the surface. However, often -- although the stories in the MVs are loosely based on the lyrics -- many times the story in the MV and the lyrics in the song are two separate things. The lyrics don't necessarily always go with the story in the MV. Often EXO's songs are about being in love with a girl and wanting to be with her, but the story in the MV is about them working to complete their mission and to fight against the Red Force, etc. Everything EXO does has many layers and it has multiple means and messages, including any of the member's solo work. There are always two levels to every EXO song, one designed to grab the casual listener that has no idea about EXO's storyline, and one that, if you look deeper, you discover has hidden meanings and messages that connect everything to EXO's mission here on Earth.

You don't know how excited I was when you announced this reaction. Lay is pure gold! Unfortunately we don't have as much dance practices as we wish, but there is one for Namanana if you want to check out more of Lay. Also, I know there's many comments about this but Lay, in EXO, is a main dancer and a lead vocalist, just a very few times he rapped, now in his solo he practically does everything he wants, rap, sing (angelic if you ask me), compose, writes, plays many instruments and obviously dance. I'm so glad Lay is doing solo activities in his home country. In SK he was always relegated to the back of EXO even though he is the best dancer of the group and a good vocalist. I hope his contract with SM expires and he stays in China instead of returning to SK, where he will be suppressed and his talent ignored in favour of korean members.

Okay, so Lay's credentials: Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Producer and writer(self-produced and wrote all his solo work and some songs for Exo)

There was a question he was asked not so long ago I believe. And it was 'What are you NOT good at' and Lay's answer was: 'Dating' He can do anything. He's the main dancer, lead vocalist of EXO, but he can rap as well, play some instruments, he produced all his solo albums and participates in a show called 'CZR2 I'm a singer-songwriter' where he's competing with other singers songwriters. He's started filming another show dance based this time and became a promoting ambassador of Street Dance of China Sport. He's an actor too and soon his new album will finally be released 😻 I'm pretty sure I forgot something, but oh well.

Thank you for the reaction! Enjoyed it very much. I love Lay's dancing because he dances big, round, and accurate. He often goes deep in the shoulders as well and very light on his feet. Other than body control, a lot of the small details you pointed out, I think, is due to his knowledge of the track he dances to, since he does most of the arranging. It's kind of crazy that this song was released less than a year ago, and you can see, with your naked eyes, that his dancing has gotten even better.

Finally Jeff, thankyou for reacting to Lay - Honey huhuhuhu i can sleep peacefully tonight. His dance skill was pleasant for the eyes since their debut era. Yes, he gain his body control through practising (and he is a practice freaks). Even since his predebut era his dance skill already above people around his age (there was his predebut video when he was doing freestyle then dancing to Wonder Girls - Nobody and he can pull off the feminine vibes from his moves, the contrast from his male vibes in his previous performance+sudden feminine moves gave a mindblowing impression on the rest of his performance) since then i'm his fan. He was one of panelists and trainers in China's Idol Producer he was so strict, intimidating, and always said balance balance balance for contestants. Whe he was pissed off because nobody satisfied him yet then he explain what "balance" was and basically he revealed his technique to achieve that balanceness. In EXO he is a main dancer and a vocalist (esp when EXO-K and EXO-M still exist). For his solo activity, SM gave him freedom to produce his own music, that's why you'll find his own style was quite different with EXO's concept, but in EXO he'll follow EXO's concept and roles. If you'll watch him in Idol Producer you'll see how good of a mentor he is. I can say he's perfectionist and he can fool you for his smile and dimples and thought you did good but for him it wasn't. His dedication to dancing, performing, and his craft is really amazing. He'll often say "BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE" because he'll know if you're a great performer if you know the meaning of "Balance". Actually in EXO, Lay is the other main dancer and lead vocalist. But that goes to show that he can do everthing, from singing to dancing, to composing and writing his own songs, playing instruments (piano, guitar, tradisional chinese instruments) , to arranging and producing his own albums (which he called his "children") , there is nothing he can't do. Lay is an all around amazing person, musician, performer, producer, mentor, like you name it haha he's amazing. He is workimg hard all the time and barely takes a small break. Some people push Lay out of EXO (you're wrong) but he is still very much apart of the group.
