pyrotechnics in this video is still tame, Du Hast live (Paris) almost makes one worried that they are going to set the entire stage on fire.

With Rammstein, you don't just get a stage show, you get a performance, and you ain't seen nothing yet. I'll leave it to the other guys to make suggestions, but, like Nightwish, you really can't go wrong with their live shows. When my neighbours put on loud music, I plug in the laptop speakers, turn the volume up to a 100% and play me some Rammstein.

The concert at Madison Square Garden sold out in less than 30 minutes. Rammstein was the first band to sing in German at MSG. There were big problems with the authorities to get the pyrotechnics approved. All in all, the pyro show was a bit tamer than when it takes place in Europe. Engel was the last song of the evening. For the current show they have a 100 foot high stage that has to be transported in 40 trucks. The construction takes 6 days. The craziest performance for me is still the performance of the song "Rammstein". The lead singer Till Lindemann is on fire on stage for 3 minutes. Check out the performance of this song at the Big Day Out Festival.

No wonder they are just standing there. The wings apparently weigh like 50kg/110lbs and they probably have to keep some distance for safety :D If you watch other videos you can see they move around and sometimes perform a story.

Because of all the pyro they kind of have to stay still on their marks for safety reasons. This was also the closing song of this performance

Rammstein is my #1 band for live production

"Never seen this before". You will say this sentence very often with Rammstein. This was nothing compared to what could come, should you allow it. Rammstein are pyromaniacs. Their concerts and entire world tours are sold out within 30 minutes. They fill stadiums and outside festivals completely. No matter how much space is available, there would be no more space. And everyone would sweat from the fire just like the band itself.

If this is the craziest pyro you've seen, check their 90s stuff. Especially the 98 live aus Berlin. It's so raw, Rammstein pure essence.

Yes, they performed "Engel" for the final song on this tour... I saw them live a couple of times, they are awesome. For me the best place to be, on a Rammstein concert, is beside the stage; a few meters away from the guitarists (Richard or Paul) because Feuerzone (firezone, front row) for 2 hours is too hot for me 😁🔥🔥🔥

Rammstein is DEFINITELY one of those bands you need to go see if you ever get the chance. You won't regret it.

They are really insanely good live! Lots of pyro yes 😝 also I think whistling a tune live on stage is quite hard; so maybe that’s also why they don’t move around much. But it’s also because of the pyro. Notice how both guitarists get on their knees when the wings go full-throttle 😉 so they don’t get roasted. Hope you do more Rammstein! Tickets are usually sold out fast. I saw them in 2019 in rotterdam. They have an extra show next year in the Netherlands; if you fly over here I’ll take you LOL if there are still tickets

They are usually very animated during there shows but this song is more serious. Singer Till also can't move around as the wings weigh about 110 pounds and are wired of course. He controls the fire himself too btw with the thing on his hand. It's so awesome! Rammstein even shoot flames out of their guitars or during one song have masks on their faces that shoot flames. Singer Till even shoots fireworks over the audiences heads, watch Du Hast live in Paris official video for that =)! They've been on stage together for more then 20 years and are still one of the best live bands out there. All the guys are like in their mid 50s now haha

This is how you end a show: blow the stage up :). Some of the time the don´t move to much because they don´t want to get incinerated! Except for Flake the keyboardguy, he moves around more than any other keybordist in the history - and you need to see for yourself to find out what happens to him!

Their 2019 stadium tour takes this pyro and makes it 10x bigger... to match an audience thatis 10x bigger (and MSG in 2010 was 20k people).

Hi Tom, this was a huge dancefloor hit in germany, especially in our Berlin Clubs way back in the early 90s. Apparently the band was inspired by the movie "wings of desire" and "far away so close" -(wim wenders) which is about two angels strolling invisibly through Berlin and one of them desiring to be a human, eventually becoming one and in the second part of the movie also the other one becomes a human.

the frontman till is an educated pyrotechnician. thats why he can create such badass ideas all by himself.

Another great live performance by a german band to check out, particularly for the crowd interaction, would be Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song & Valhalla from Wacken 2016 (two songs in one video, should be watched together). Hansi Kürsch (their singer) is probably one of the most unassuming front men in metal but his voice, stage presence and, command over the crowd are among the absolute top.

I've been listening to Rammstein since their beginnings. For the first time I was at a Clawfingers concert that made Rammstein a lead band and I did not believe what I heard and saw. After a few years, history turned around and the Clawfingers formed the lead band Rammstein. I have been and will also be at all their concerts here in the Czech Republic. In my opinion, this band has the best stage show in the world. Pyro effects are invented by the band's singer, who is also very interested in their production. Till has a very special and unique voice without vibration at the end. The lyrics and themes of the songs are very thoughtful, deep and make you think. The band founded a new music genre NDH (Neue Deutsche Härte). If you are a fan of them and you are at their concert, you are incredibly excited, happy, tanned by fire, completely wet and deaf for other days. You get the best music experience in the world. :-) Thanks for the video, check it out!

The wings weigh 110 lbs..he had to stop wearing them because he was having back problems plus cuts and bruises...so he went to being lifted into the air which helped with his back but when they brought him down the landing was too hard and now was causing feet and leg problems...so if you see back in 2019 on thier last tour..there are no wings present at all when they sing Engel and its all of them singing slow And melodic with piano and the crowd joining them..its very nice 🙂💕

I think part of the "static" performance is that they're probably at a precisely calculated distance from two freaking flamethrowers :D

You may know "Du hast" as a Song. You did'nt expect the Song in the Live Show from Paris! And their Videos also abso-fsking-lutely Awesome. "Sonne" or "Du riechst so gut 98" is a very good entry point to see one of the most creative Bands in case of Entertainment in the last two decades

Another European band with an outstanding live show is Heilung. Their first concert "LIFA" was on a festival. Try "Krigsgaldr" or "In Maidjan" for parts with pure female voice and perhaps "Alfadhirhaiti" or "Hamrer Hippyer" for more power.

Yeah, you gotta go to a Rammstein concert if you get the chance. If you stand in the front 'Fire pit', you'll feel the heat from the pyrotechnics, it feels like it's gonna singe your eyebrows even. And if they do what they did when I saw them last, you may need a change of clothes after the final songs. :)

#1 Till's angel costume with all the mechanics is heavy, therefore he won't run around at the stage like a toddler. #2 When two approx. 15 ft wide flames from the guy next to you are shooting right (and left) next to your head, you'll definitely stay at your safe position like a Gargoyle and don't run around at the stage like a toddler. #3 Watch "Rammstein - Du Hast (Paris)" and you'll rescale your scale of "pyrotechnical cool stuff" in the same minute ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U5HAEzEk8QM.html ) and will see, the "safe zones" on the Rammstein stage are small, too small to run around at the stage like a toddler. #4 Yeah, the keyboarder is on a treadmill, like most of us should while working in an office, at least he's running the mileage at the stage like a toddler.

Engel is Angel in english... hence the wings :) I did a quick google search and apparently those wings that Till wore during this performance weighed in at 50kg (110lbs)... no wonder he wasn't moving too quickly. Another very entertaining performance from Rammstein. If I read correctly the Rammstein front man, Till Lindemann, is actually a qualified pyrotechnician and as such is able to help design the band's live pyrotechnics. I guess this would explain why they have such amazing over the top pyro in their live shows.

Believe it or not Till the lead singer suffers from stage freight . He has scares were he once fell with the wings on. This is the most mellow you will see them just wait....lol

Other shows feel like family reunions when bands come to town. Rammstein shows have an almost religious vibe about them. Nothing like it.

We were set to attend Rammstein's concert in Tempe, Arizona decades ago. Sold out. Fire dept. shut it down 30 minutes before the start. Lotta angry and disappointed fans.

But then we did start the whole heavy thing with the unholy trio (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple). Suggestions, Rammstein - Ich tu dir weh from the same concert or Du Hast live in Paris, Nightwish - My Walden (for lots of Troy), Opeth - Deliverance live at Red Rocks, Amorphis - Death of a king (official video) or My Kantelle (live song from a 1,000 lakes). And if you want to know where it all started check out Deep Purple - Child in Time (live 1970), Black Sabbath - War Pigs (live Paris 1970) and Led Zeppelin - How many more times (live Denmark 1969). The roots of Metal can be traced back before then through Psychedelia, Rock n Roll, the Blues, Jazz and way back into classical music, but if you want to put a date on the true birth of Metal, then it's Friday 13th February 1970, the release date of the first Black Sabbath album. I am happy that you liked it. Maybe this was a good first song for Rammstein. But it is a very mainstream song that was even very often played in german radio. It was also the song with which the band got known by a greater public. To be honest for Rammstein the pyro here was a bit on the cheap side. You should check out some more extreme Songs: "Mein Teil", live in Paris. Check the Background story before watching - the song is about a true case of canibalism which occured in germany. Two men had an appointment where one of them agreed to be slaughtered and they ate his dick together... This one has also extremely unusual pyro... "Bück Dich", also live in Paris. This is quite explicit (title translates to "bend over!") and has other funny special effects. ;-) Both should not be viewed with kids. :-) Rammstein is very provoking. But even if the lyrics seem rather brutal and simple, Till Lindeman is kind of a dark poet with very intelligent text variations, metaphors and puns.

It looks like you'd enjoy exploring Rammstein. Play with Rammstein and you play with fire LOL. Their live performances are pretty much untouchable for sheer theatricality. It pays to find out a bit about the songs because many are inspired by real life events, novels, poems etc. For sheer fire power, have a look at 'Sonne' 2019. BUT please don't ignore the official videos, they can be pretty amazing too - 'Mein Herz Brennt' springs to mind. I hope you have fun, they are a fantastic band and the lead singer Till Lindemann an amazing performer. He also has a side project named 'Lindemann' which I love, but some people might find erm ... shall we say 'challenging'?

You should look up Benzin from Rammstein live. They have litterally flamethrowers in their mouth. Like Flamethrower just as big of flames like you see coming out of the wings. For a song i think Ich tu dir weh (I hurt you) from Madison Square is better though. PS Usually they stand around, because they have their X on the floor if they leave the X marking it gets dangerous. You can see especially the guitr play and bassit having to turn to right or left to not get full flames or heat even though they are in theri marks
