Everyone who listens to this as an intro to arch enemy is surprised by the harsh vocals, everyone who already listens to arch enemy is surprised by the clean vocals

I love it how Alyssa has everything she'd need to make tons of money as a pop artist, but chooses to be metal

I was incredibly blessed to hear Alissa's insane vocals live over a decade ago alongside Shadows Fall, Dragonforce, Trivium & Machine Head. Which was possibly the most epic gig I've ever been to, (in part because after they performed we bumped into Herman Li at the bar and my friend gave him a piggy back when we returned to the crowd!) and I can still remember how powerful her voice was!

Arch Enemy has had 2 amazing female vocalists. As a fan of strong badass women, I love it!

Arch Enemy is one of my favourite bands. Funny watching people react when they see an angel like Alissa start growling like a demon.

That's one of the few songs with AE Alyssa does clean vocals. Normally she does incredible growls and screams, like in "House of mirrors" or "Deceiver, deceiver". She has been hand-picked by the former vocalist Angela Gossow, who is now managing the band and been a role model for female metal vocalists during her active time. Check out "Nemesis" live in Tokyo 2008 or the video "Under black flags we march" with her.

I´ve been listning to her since her time in her earlier band "The Agonist" but the first time I heard it I were shocked as well! She truly broke alot of new ground to where nowdays there are a good chunk of women screamers and growlers out there 😃 One of the best vocalists imo!

Try to react to some older live stuff with their previous front lady Angela Gossow. She was the ultimate true metal goddess. Just a hints: "I am legend, out for blood" from Live Apocalypse or "We will rise" from Tyrants from the Rising Sun. Michael Amott before Arch Enemy was in Carcass - they invent melodic death metal genre. Their album Necroticism is a legendary.

Love Arch Enemy. Saw them live a few years ago with Trivium and they were both amazing, but what I wasn't expecting was the band that opened for them While She Sleeps absolutely stole the show. Two bands I was super pumped for that put on an amazing show and I left suddenly obsessed with the band I hadn't even heard of and didn't go to see. Now one of my favorite bands. When she was with The Agonist, Alissa was known for her manic switching between harsh and clean vocals. Arch Enemy uses almost entirely harsh vocals, so it's nice to see them start incorporating more clean vocals to take full advantage of her talents. This song is awesome, this is Painkiller level Heavy Metal, it's a perfect metal song, the whole band kills it, great lyrics too, but Alyssa sends it way over the top, her vocals are superb, a classic metal song now

It is funny that most people having listened to Arch Enemy before were stunned by that song, because it is the first time sings clean properly for Arch Enemy. Sometimes you really wander what Michael was thinking all those years. I think quite some people that knew Alyssia only from AE might not even have guess that she is more than capable clean singer up to that point.

Great reaction! Alissa usually does all harsh vocals in Arch Enemy songs so this song is a special treat since we get to hear her sweet clean vocals as well. Alissa does a lot of collaborations with other bands. You would probably enjoy her collaboration with Nita Strauss, The Wolf you Feed. Nita is one of the best guitarists out there and adding Alissa's beautiful harsh and clean vocals makes for an epic song. On of my favorites is her collaboration with Powerwolf on the song Demon's are a Girls Best Friend. All harsh vocals but the video is super cool with great costumes and storytelling. also, important distinction: these people are not "talented" (well, they probably they are but mainly) they are "skilled"! Talent is good to have but to actually get good in something you need the SKILL that comes from years of practice.
