Grandfathers of Heavy Metal. War Pigs is an obvious next. If you want a Punchy version of War Pigs catch their UN-remastered version of their live in paris 1970. Bill Ward, the drummer, takes his kit to school. This version also comes with an extra unreleased verse as well. Peace/JT
"War Pigs" deserve a re-recording now, half a century after the original version! There are quite a few high-ranking people out there who need to listen and regret!
love this song fun fact, album was almost done they needed one last song lasting only 2½ minutes Tony Iommi came up with the riffs to Paranoid while the other members were out for lunch so yes Paranoid was the last song written for the album and turned out to be one of their biggest hits
Behold, the birth of heavy metal-the creator on guitar, Tony Iommi. That was the way it looked in the 60s. Checked out your shop-you've got some excellent stuff there, young lady. That "Fractions of Me" is coming home with me in some form, maybe two, very soon. Fantastic work. Love your channel!
War Pigs, it's been mentioned a bunch, and I've liked every one I could see. One commenter mentioned the live version in 1970, Paris. It's just incredible. But also check out the studio version, or a cover by Puddles Pity Party, for a powerful reinterpretation. Or, and this is just me spit-balling, listen to all three, back to back to back. Like a War Pigs mini-marathon.
Ren does a fantastic cover of 'War Pigs' as well, busking with The Big Push in Brighton, incorporating 'Paranoid', a bit of 'Crazy Train' and even some of Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing In the Name'. Well worth a watch!!
You are hitting one of the all time great bands and the first and most influential metal outfits. They had 'IT' right from the start, so to properly start your journey with this amazing band, do their first song from their first album, the song that freaked us all out in 1970: the song Black Sabbath, from the album, Black Sabbath, by the immortal band Black Sabbath. Do everything on that album as time permits, even if you listen to it when chilling out, that album will change your view on how they rate such legendary status. And that is just the first of 6 utterly great albums in a row, as good a run as their legendary contemporaries in the 70s. Good luck on your musical voyage, they will blow your mind! They sure did us, enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Every song on this album is great. I really liked listening to it because they could bring really up and then do a slow calming song that was so great.
I saw them in 1977! After the early 80's, Ozzi went solo, but they had other vocalists over the years. Their first 4 albums are full of great material!
Great reaction Sabina!! And to think this was their 'throw away' track (it was made at the last minute as a studio request to fill up the album) - became one of their best known tracks! In all honesty, their first six albums are all masterpieces of heavy metal! So much goodness (and variety) contained in each! First album (self-titled) is more bluesy (check NIB, Behind The Wall Of Sleep, Black Sabbath); Second (Paranoid) gets darker, with some psychedelia thrown in (check War Pigs, Planet Caravan, Hand Of Doom, Iron Man); Third (Master Of Reality) is when basically 'stoner' metal is born (check Sweet Leaf, Children Of The Grave, Solitude, Into The Void); Fourth (Vol. 4) combines all previous (check Snowblind, Supernaut, Wheels of Confusion, Tomorrow's Dream); Fifth (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) gets some orchestral in the metal (check title track, Sabbra Cadabra (one of my favourites!), National Acrobat, Spiral Architect); Sixth (Sabotage) again combines previous (Hole In The Sky, Symptom Of The Universe, Megalomania, The Writ). ALL are excellent! Vocals, musicianship, groove - it's all there. Godfathers of METAL! Cheers
Hi Sabina, great to hear you doing some classic metal bands! Yes, Iron Man is next from the Ozzy years, but also try Sign of the Southern Cross or Voodoo from the Dio era, great stuff, and very contrasting styles. Love your reactions!
Loved your reaction, The thing about Black Sabbath is that they started out great and got better with each album. Every song is meant for a listening experience not just background music. Every song feels like an actual experience, I recommend starting at the beginning with the song "Black Sabbath" on the album Black Sabbath. Thanks again for the great reaction.
Great reaction Sabina to this rather early song of the best hard rock band ever. For me no one come even close (But there are some really great groups outhere" I have followed them since the start and i am rather proud over that.
They were the first concert that I've ever attended . The song Black Sabbath should be your next reaction. It will get your attention. Have a good day.
Sabina, check out the song Black Sabbath, on their first album titled, Black Sabbath. It is really a good song. Also, check out War Pigs on the Parenoid album. I love your website!!❤❤❤
Paranoid is like Bohemian Rhapsody, all us Brits know it in utero!🇬🇧 Sir Ozzy of Osbourne and the rest of Sabbath gave me headbanging brain damage at skool! (I love the no pausing on screen captions format!)
I grew up with Black Sabbath, one of my favorite metal bands. I also would recommend Aria - legendary russian metal band. Their song "Playing with fire" - one of the best metal songs ever.
If you loved this, there's an amazing video of them doing "Warpig" at 1970 show in Paris! One of my favorite live performances by anyone. Black Sabbath is really the primordial heavy metal band. The dark tone of their arrangement is the result of an industrial accident. The guitar player, Toni Iomi, lost the tip of his finger working in a factory. To play, he wore a plastic prosthetic but it required him to tune down the guitar so that the strings were easier to work with. That tuned down sound inspired countless heavy metal acts that came after.
Paranoid is probably the Black Sabbath anthem - a great sample of their power as a hard rock band. This song is also one of those that was an early heavy metal piece before there was a genre of heavy metal.
So much material to recommend, anything from their first six albums with Ozzy. The most obvious is War Pigs (studio version with just lyrics), but so many more: Children of the Grave, Into the Void, Symptom of the Universe, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Under the Sun I could go on and on...
Favorite tune : there are so many . "Symptom of the Universe" (give birth to thrash) "Planet Caravan" (an atypic space floydish track) "Snowblind" (both doomy and melodic) "Dirty women" (which contain the most epic guitar solo by Tommy Iommy) . Nearly all the tracks of the album "Heaven & Hell" with RJ Dio as vocalist , would deserve a reaction.
You hit the nail on the head....toni iommi lost the tips of two fingers in an industrial accident and then had to tune a half step down with rubber tips on those fingers..a lot of bands tune down these days but I think b.s. may have been the first .great channel.
Cool reaction, for a contrast try, Planet Caravan. Which iirc, is from the same album, probably my favourite song by them, though its far from typical. On a totally different note, i think I've mentioned Alice Russell... she does an incredible version of Crazy, the Gnarls Berkeley song. She just released her first album in ten years, so you could appear cool and trendy by reacting to her! I think you'd be more than impressed, she's a UK Soul singer with a powerful, technical voice, impressive control and superb dynamics. I hope you'll give her a shot
I would recommend you sabina to start off with wintersun sons of winter and stars live rehearsal video. Then winter sun time live rehearsal video. Followed by wintersun land of snow and sorrow live rehearsal video. Also try out wintersun loneliness video. And finally Wintersun warning video featuring jari showing off his new guitar. And some members of wintersun are now in your other favorite symphonic band night wish now. And try to bring along henri for your wintersun reactions so you and her can join the wintersun viking army youll be bringing out your axe and sheilds and become danish vikings ! Thank you ❤
I HIGHLY recommend a deep dive into Black Sabbath. I would start where THEY started...with the song "Black Sabbath" from their self-titled debut album.
Sabina, Black Sabbath was the first concert that I went to in Philadelphia on 2/4/1974. I was disappointed in their performance. I expected more from them, but they were an interesting band. Take care, Mark
Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin are the founders of ‘modern hard rock/metal’. Also every member is so talented it’s really amazing how talented the late 60’s This is one of their most simplistic songs as far as music is concerned.
Interestingly, their sound was inspired by pretty much where they were from and their life experiences, working in factories, growing up in a heavily industrialized city, a city (Birmingham) which has always been rough and violent. Which is one of the reasons their music has a metallic, harsh, driving sound and feel and why their lyrics tend to be dark. They almost single-handedly created the Metal genre, which was heavily inspired by Blues music which in turn is essentially a kind of Folk music. A few years later, a similar situation occurred with the rise of early Electronic music as well wherein they were inspired by the noises coming out of the factories and their surroundings/environments where they grew up and lived. Again, young people expressing how they thought and felt in their own way. Again, at it's core, essentially a new kind of Folk music, although obviously not called that. Across the pond in Germany, a similar sequence of events occurred as well in that - during the days of the USSR/DDR - being a musician wasn't considered a 'real job' and music was likewise heavily state-controlled, and this led to artists creating their own music/sound with non-musical instruments, which formed the foundations of/became Industrial music. In all cases, they were or tended to be working class people either voicing their own opinions because they didn't feel they were represented or there was an element of anti-establishment sentiment. Anyway, I went on a bit of a tangent there, but I just find it so interesting that there are these small, unrelated instances, and yet there are shared commonalities among all of them. It beautifully demonstrates that whilst we may come from different walks of life and backgrounds, fundamentally, as humans we all share roughly the same core feelings, attitudes and responses to things.
Grande Ozzy Osbourne.
I know that you are moving a different direction at the moment, but the next time Henri is around, you should watch a very specific video called “XG Winter Without You on The First Take”. It’s a quasi-Kpop group (they are from Japan but promote in Korea) that sings in English. They are live in this video, and all 7 are amazing. It will start you down a crazy rabbithole.
Quality band from my home city of Birmingham. This is quality metal. It’s a pity that Ozzy is a shadow of his former self, due in the main to hard drugs, which resulted in the band sacking him. I was lucky enough to see them at The Birmingham Odeon, supported by Van Halen…another fine band. This song is iconic, and provided a template for other bands to use. Great reaction Sabina..thank you for this offering.

@@sabina1118 WARING!! WARNING!! WARNING!! There is a fan made video of "War Pigs" here on RU-vid that should be avoided like a plague. Please react to either the original studio version off the "Paranoid" album or the 1970 live in Paris.
Deberías escuchar una canción que le dio el nombre a la banda. Black Sabath, del álbum Black Sabanth, su portada es una Fotografía de una supuesta bruja
If you like the music of Mr. Iommi have a look at : Toni Iommi featuring Skin: meat. That includes a great contrast between guitar and voice. Have fun and go on with your reactions
