It's not just their song melodies fans love them for. The majority of BTS fans became fans because of their lyrics, what they represent and how they communicate with fans sharing feelings and how they comfort us. Except few songs just for fun and cheer people up, the most of their songs have deep meanings behind catchy melodies.

I just came across this video, and I realize how much can change in a month after discovering BTS. But the first words out of my mouth were "Oh Honey, you have just seen the tiny tip of an incredibly large iceberg!" Singing, rapping, dancing, lyrics so deep it will keep you up nights, best cinematography in the world, acting, comedy, fine arts, foodies, fashion, modeling, psychotherapy, aliens.....BTS has anything and everything in one place or another! Not even joking. I'm a year and 1/2 down this rabbit hole and I'm never coming out. 😁

I’ve been into KPOP for a long time now. I enjoyed alot of things when it comes to their culture that’s why I ended up learning their language. I do have a bias or a favorite among the members HOWEVER, I love them all as a group and you’ll get what I mean once you get into them. As your first time listening to BTS, It can be really surprising for sure. I’m glad that you enjoyed BTS! For one, KPOP isn’t necessarily pop music but rather a collective of korean music. It can be confusing but as you have heard and observed, BTS songs have different genres. In the group there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. Us fans love BTS not only because of their sound but their message through their songs. Whenever you watch their MVs I suggest you turn on the CC subtitle to be able to understand what their song/music is all about. Really enjoyed your reaction and it will be great to see you react to more BTS soon! As reference, If you want to hear more of their songs I suggest you listen to: ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Black Swan Blood Sweat & Tears DNA Fire If you want to learn more about the members and BTS as a group then I suggest that you react to A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Nakamoto this is the most recent one

Thankyou for your reaction. I want to say that bts is not kpop. They started of as kpop but now have their own genre. Army call it bts-pop. There are 3 rappers and 4 singers in the band. Bts has a long discography. They just released their anthology album Proof. They debuted in 2013 and have been together for 9 years now. Bts has always participated in the writing process of their music. All members can also produce. They just started their 2nd chapter of their career. In this chapter they will focus more on their solo work and albums. They want to do this to come back stronger as a group. They members are like family to each other and lived together for a long time. If you want to know more about their story and the members individually, i suggest you to react to: Taylors - A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7.

Actually, they *are* Kpop. They themselves even refer to themselves as a Kpop band, they're just the best one ever. Please don't say straight up untrue statements for the sake of trying to make them sound superior, it just makes army look arrogant and the boys shouldn't need some type of made-up genre just to be considered "good". They are the most amazing artists out there, but they are still a Kpop group. (Kpop= Korean Popular music, so not even a genre to begin with. western countries just decide to treat it like a genre because it's asian, it's actually just any genre of music that's mainstream in Korea; same thing with Jpop)

@@pennybleta9721 Actually I also only listen to bts, it's just factually untrue. You actually sound far more toxic because you don't even have any reasoning for what you are saying, you just wanna act like them being better artists means that they aren't still in the same industry. Kpop is an industry, not a genre, so it is literally impossible for them to *not* be kpop because that is literally the industry they work in.
@pennybleta9721
@pennybleta9721 2 года назад
@@shanajeangedeon9060 BTS I repeat were never kpop lol. And you don't have to tell me kpop is an industry I know that very well. And there's nothing toxic about what I say. Kpoppies think stating facts to their delusions is toxic when it has nothing to do with that..BTS begun as a hip hop group that only adopted certain things in idol industry but they never were a kpop idol..They never fit any of idol industry's principles and that is the reason this shitty industry fought them since the beginning..They never fit the mold and were never truly part of this shitty industry. Lol. You can say whatever you want but it won't change these facts.
@shanajeangedeon9060
@shanajeangedeon9060 2 года назад
@@pennybleta9721 You do realize there are hip hop kpop artists, right? They got hate because they were from a smaller company and because Suga and RM were from the underground, it has nothing to do with "adapting some things" from kpop. And nothing you said changes the facts of what I said either, they are literally a kpop group and nothing will change that fact. Suga described it best, but I don't remember the exact quote, when he said that kpop is not a genre and is basically the entire way they perform that makes it kpop. They are from a kpop company that has other kpop groups under it, they are performing the same way (albeit more genuine enjoyment), they refer to *themselves* as a kpop group in their literal introduction in other countries (not just western), they literally trained under a company the way only kpop artists do (but were simply given more freedom), and nothing *you* say will change these facts either. You just want to feel superior by stating that "they aren't kpop at all", when that just makes you seem like you have developed some weird sense of superiority complex on their behalf (which is very toxic since the boys themselves are so humble and y'all are making army look bad by being childish about saying something completely made-up and pretending it's fact). And stop saying I'm a "kpoppie", I don't even follow other groups; I know some other songs that exist and some random names, but that's about it. Edit: It would be more realistic to say "they are *more* than kpop" than it is to say "they *aren't* kpop", because one is about usurping peoples expectation/stereotypes and the other is just a straight up arrogant lie.

Hi iam a 48 year old Army here from the Netherlands... This is BTS their fandom name... I loved watching you, your smile was so genuine! I am sooo NOT into kpop. I tried but kpop just does not hit my heart the way BTS went straight to my heart, soul, body and mind... I am definitely OT7! But J-Hope.... I even got his signature tattooed on the inside of my right wrist... I have AS. So moving my body hurts and my bones are slowly growing together... I got totally stuck into myself and dared not to move because of the pain... J-Hope to me is so 1 with his body heart and soul.. I'm not, it's has always been me and my body, and hate for this body that just broke down when I was 23 years old. My dream was to become a dancer/performer... That dream could not come true and I just stopped dancing and got stuck in myself and the hate I feel for this body of mine. It's because of J-Hope that I started to dance again even thou it hurts, he inspired me to move through the pain and become more softer to myself, he gave me back so much joy that I lost... And now for 2 years already I dance every morning to make my body wake up and not only mentally but also my body and I are doing so much better! Don't get me wrong it hella hurts to get my body dancing and some days I just can't or cry while doing it. It's J-Hope on my wrist that gives me power to keep fighting and dancing... It also helps slow down my bones growing together... And on days I hate myself the most.... There I go into the magic shop where BTS is waiting for me with a cup of tea... They are the best therapy for my body mind heart and soul They are learning me, these young men are given me life lessons in how to love myself.... Woooooooo So BTS.... They changed my life and I found out that I'm Hobi, J-Hope his nickname lol, I had lost my inner sunshine but BTS gave that back to me and I'm smiling a hole lot more and am just as wacky as J-Hope hahaha even my kids say, mam BTS gave back your smile and made you you again.... I am so much the whalien... Magic shop and the whalien 52 are 2 amazing songs by BTS.... Go find them and read the lyrics you will understand... Magic shop live with English subtitles is just goosebumps... And the story of the whale with frequency 52 is a true story.... If you know his story you understand whalien 52.., Warm love from me to you, Audrey/Mama Mochi 💜

Dynamite got me into BTS 2 yrs ago and BTS got me into some other KPOP. But there is not another group out there in KPOP or Western Music who can touch BTS. They have 10 albums and hundreds of songs which are ALL good. They are known for their touching and deep lyrics so I definitely recommend watching them with the captions on or going to Doolset lyrics and looking up the lyrics. They are also world class dancers and performers. They write and produce a lot of the music. Their music covers a spectrum of Genres to include Pop, Rap, hip hop, R & B, Latin Pop, Neo Soul, etc. I hope you do more BTS reactions.

100% agree about not needing to know the lyrics when the music is good, however…BTS are genius lyricists. Literally. Their leader RM one of the rappers who writes a lot of their songs (blond hair in this video. Their hair colors change every video, you get used to it) has an I.Q. of 148. So I’m looking forward to see you react to a song with captions so you can witness how meaningful their words can be. I recommend watching a live performance of Magic Shop with English Subtitles. (Make sure you put English subtitles into the search. All official music videos have English closed captions but live performances usually don’t unless some kind person adds English subtitles) or the On Kinetic Manifesto music video. Thanks for checking out BTS 💜

BTS is a genre itself lol but seriously, they have a huge discography with different genres and mixes, they are incredible. You will probably find people saying BTS is not Kpop and I totally understand that because it's really hard to categorize them. That video has subtitles btw. But like you said, even if you don't understand, you can enjoy their music. If you read their lyrics you would be surprised because most of them are really deep, touching and genius. That's one of my favorite things about them. BTS is different from other kpop groups and other groups in general I think. In kpop they generally have rappers , singers and dancers too but you will not find artists like BTS, they have something special .. Idk exactly what it is but.. they are special. BTS is really involved in the creation of their music and art so all the members have participated in the production, composition and writing process of their songs but I would said that the rappers are like the ones that have A LOT of credits. By the way, they have 4 different and strong vocalists and 3 rappers (probably the best ones in the whole k-pop industry). The members are really close to each other like bestfriends or even brothers and all of them are really humble and funny + the connection they have with their fans is so strong and unique. I've been a fan of many things and artists and let me tell you , that the relationship that BTS has with army is on another level. I hope you react more to them because their songs, Mvs and performances are just amazing. 💜 I recommend you to listen to the recent 'PROOF Live' and don't forget to turn on the captions so you can read the lyrics! Alsoo, if you want to know more about them, I recommend you to watch and react if you can to 'A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7' by Taylor. I know it's 47 minutes and kind of long, but it worth because has accurate information and it's update. That guide it's probably the best one right now and army doesn't mind to watch long reactions so.. Answering your question, my bias (favorite member) is Suga and Jin but of course I'm OT7 (Support and love all the members equally. I think a bias is more like the member that you most relate to or attracts you)

I’m so glad you liked it!!! You’re completely right in saying that language is irrelevant, because although one of bts most important aspects are their lyrics (which they write themselves) their music is so good that you don’t even need to know what they’re saying. I personally am not a fan of kpop in general, I’ll like a few songs here and there but for the most part it’s all kind of the same for me? Bts are a whole different level. They’re bigger than all of kpop combined at this point. As for a bias (favourite), mine are V and Suga, but I’m also OT7 which means I live all of them. I can’t wait to follow your journey down the rabbit hole if you do decide to dive deep into this group, you definitely won’t regret it💜

..and these are B-sides! I would say most ARMY really have a strong love of the lyrics... they do mean a lot even if we have to get most of them via reading (CC as I'm sure others have pointed out :) )... but most of us even go as to read the lyrics on Doolset and watching interpretation videos to get the cultural references and a deeper lyrical understanding. My bias (aka favorite) is Yoongi/Suga, he was one of those rappers... and keep in mind I am a Gen-X alternative kind of girl before I found BTS. Yes, music doesn’t have to make you understand the lyrics especially BTS’ music but BTS’ lyrics are awesome and very special. The words doesn’t only make you feel good, it actually heals you. BTS is beyond KPop, they’re technically their own genre. BTS make their own music and doesn’t reatrict themselves to 1 or 2 genres coz they also have EDM, RnB, ballad etc. i love OT7 (all members of BTS) but V is my bias (favorite). That's true if the song is good you don't have to know the lyrics but BTS is known for lyricsm. It's better for you to know what they're talking about in their songs it's deep. Their songs has a caption tho. And for my bias it's Jungkook the one with the purple mic.

Yeah they are very diverse individuals and as a group, they impress me in every song. Next time turn on the captions if it's available!! You don't need them but it adds a little more to the music when you know what's being said. BTS is really the only Korean pop group I listen to, mainly at least. They began as a solely hip-hop group who branched off and made their own identity as a band. I hope you listen to more! They have a lot to offer and ARMY (BTS fans) will love to watch your journey.

Thank you for listening to BTS. Their fanbase (called Army) dislike the Western media’s attempt to pigeonhole BTS as a boy band, Pop group, or even K-Pop group, just so less Westerners will check them out. They do every genre. If you react to J-Hope’s (he is one of 7 members) recently released music videos, More and Arson, you’ll see that there are no boy band sounds there!

BTS got me into kpop, but not really. I'm not into other kpop groups but I got to know their world and industry a bit. And I so much agree you don't have to listen to songs only in your language! Although bts' lyrics are god tier. I read translations from people like "doolset lyrics"(and highly recommend it because those color coded lyric videos on youtube have so many translation mistakes ugh). When you get to know what the song is about once, it's enough to fully enjoy it later imo. Plus, bts also are amazing performers and it adds yet another layer to their music. Thank you for enjoyable video!:)

Laid back and beautiful Black Swan to hard fun dance On: kenetic manifesto film and more hip hop Mic Drop. They also all write arrange and produce their own music…including the beats. I do both. Thanks for reacting to BTS. Been a fan since 2015. Yaaaaa, you have to get rid of your pre conceived notions about the group cuz they are nothing like your typical boyband. The lyrics ARE a big part of the group and who they are so make sure to put closed captions on MV BUT the jams are great just listening to their beats. If you want to understand who the group is and why they are popular( yes it's their catchy melodies but it's so much more than that) I recommend This is BTS by xceleste and this is BTS Army to understand the fandom first. Kpop is short for Korean Popular Music. When you watch to BTS songs, you can turn on CC closed caption on to know the meaning of their songs. BTS songs have great meaning, not just that its catchy or a bop but it has a deep meaning. They all are music producers and writers. They have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They can dance, sing, rap, write songs, produce and play instruments. Thanks for your reaction to BTS. Im sure a lot of BTS Armys already requested some songs for you to react. So most people like to criticize bts and kpop without understanding what it really is. I know you are being respectful but you did show that you don't really understand what kpop really is so let me explain a little. So kpop stands for Korean popular music and that is literally how you have to look at it. Most fans of Kpop consider all Korean music that is somewhat popular to be kpop that could be a rapper, a rock group, an indie artist, a DJ, or a "typical" boyband (which you don't find a lot in kpop). In kpop but more specifically the idol industry (which is what most people think kpop is), they have perfected the concept of a boy/girl band. Almost all kpop groups have at least 1 rapper and have incredible choreographies (not some backstreet boys/ Nsync stuff) If you are interested in knowing what kpop is like and also what bts is like and how they are kinda a different group from your average kpop group which is why they got so much more popular than the other groups you should react to these videos. ru-vid.com/group/PLgIz5gBqBHGr5W0bkt8S3mOTBmblAtgT7 This is a playlist of some better explanations of who bts is and what kpop is. I'd recommend you at least watch and preferably react to some of these if not all to get a better understanding of who bts is and what kpop really is.

Kpop isn't necessarily a genre, it's an industry. BTS can't really be defined by one single genre (although their roots are in hip hop) They do everything from rap, to latin pop, to EDM, to R&B, to pop, to rock. They're the whole package with immeasurable talent. All of them are producers/songwriters as well as versatile dancers yet they each bring something unique to the team. I really recommend delving deeper into the BTS rabbit hole because this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Simply put, Kpop is a category not a genre. Bts has songs of almost every musical genre (I’m not saying that this ONLY applies to BTS as I am fully aware about other “kpop” groups who do this too); hence, I wouldn’t categorise them as “pop singers”. Also wanted to add that most of their songs are actually quite insightful and deep. As you said, each member has their own palette and uniqueness and you can hear and see this essence of individuality through their music and in ANYTHING that they do in general to be honest. The more one looks into BTS the more appealing they get; Not just from a musical perspective but in general. Bts, in my opinion, is THE kpop group that paved the way for the “kpop industry”.

I love the feeling when someone finally gets it. And I hate all those empty comments around me hating on BTS without knowing anything about them or their music. It´s insulting. They are not just some boyband, they are musicians, artists, original, quirky, creative, they write their own songs most of the time, they play instruments, they are great lyricists! And on top of that they are great humans, they have cool fashion style, just inspirational all over.

And to reply to some of your questions. I got into BTS through my love for korean language (usually it´s the other way round, I know :) ) which I developed through k-drama and now I study the language, I also study asian studies - international relations at the Metropolitan University in Prague. I fell in love with them very quickly as I looooove music and they have huge repertoire, I never get bored with them. I am OT7 which means I love all 7 members but I have to admit I have a soft spot for Jimin (the blond boy with high voice), he is my bias. And my biggest bias wrecker is probably Suga (the rapper with the fastest cadence). They are totally opposite on the spectrum of personalities and music as well. LOL (but Jimin can be tough and Suga can be soft - it´s complicated :D)

Really summed that up. If you've given them a shot and they're not your thing that's fine. Just pretty annoying when they're just written off as some 'little Asian boyband who only are popular because of their looks'. At least give them a shot and try listening to something other than their most played songs. Seeing new reactors come in with an open mind but still getting surprised is always a treat :)

BTS roots are in hip-hop as the first couple members came from the underground rap scene before the rest of the members joined, and then debuted together. They incorporate/blend R&B, pop/edm, and other genres such as rock, jazz, Latin, etc. At this point, BTS is really their own genre and you’ll understand the more songs you listen to. Almost no skippable songs in their discography, they don’t half-*ss their songs as they pour themselves into the meaning in their lyrics which are way more deep than what banger/catchiness or even song title suggests. They just do all their music well and not only that, you can probably tell how they are like best friends here. No egos where they think they’re better than each other, that one would want to leave a group like past bands/groups. They truly love doing and performing music together. I got into them because their music remind me of music I grew up with the mix of hip-hop, R&B, etc. Like it feels so good, because it really has the spirit of it and still also be fresh. I’m from LA, just so you know, because some people assume only Koreans listen to them because they are Korean. You should always check if the captions which would have the english translation/subtitles entered in the video. Ignore/turn off captions if it says “English (auto-generated)” because that’s not accurate, because it’s just RU-vid software or something.

Welcome to our world!!! A few things: You can turn on the closed captions for almost all K-pop for lyric translations As long as you play the label's intro, you can usually react to official music videos without worrying about copyright strikes. This includes groups in the same label 'family' as BTS: TXT, Seventeen, Enhypen, Les Sserafim and others. However, BTS are a category unto themselves. BTS started as a hip-hop group, so the rappers are the real deal who write their own bars. K-pop is a broad category that contains many genres. But what they do have in common as "K-pop" is the integration of music, visuals, fashion, style, and choreography, and the amount of effort that goes into live performance. This performance is tame compared to most BTS performances. As you learn and see more you will be blown away. I recommend you watch the MVs called "ON: Kinetic Manifesto" and "Black Swan" for some pretty diverse music and incredible choreography. And remember to turn on CC! I also recommend the most recent taped live performance video called "Proof Live." There are two songs followed by a discussion that you could probably skip for now. Just fast forward to the 21 minute mark for the third song. This one doesn't include any choreography but really highlights their musical talent. I think you will continue to be more and more impressed! You picked a great time to start learning because they are about to start launching solo albums. That means the next few months will be filled with seven times the amount of content they usually put out, which was already A LOT. The first solo album from rapper J-Hope drops in a couple weeks, and he's headlining at Lollapalooza at the end of July. You better catch up fast! The guide to BTS by Taylor Nakamoto is a good resource to learn more about the members individually. Fans WILL watch you react to it even though it's pretty long.

I discovered them while playing beat saber in vr. at first all I knew about K-pop was the word K-pop lol then I watched 1 video of bts and an other and I kept going! I liked the beats but when I translated the lyrics everything was even better. then watching all of their other stuff made me connect with them even more and now I regret having pushed away K-pop for so long just because I didn't want to listen to something that was so "popular because they look good"... oh well.. I'm a guy and I fucking love theses guys lol They are great and I was just afraid to try something I didn't know, but now I'm proud of being on this journey, watching them change the world and bring people together with the power of love and respect. on this note I'll wish you a great day everyone :)

BTS is the total package!.. Vocals, raps, over 300 songs of multiple genre, professional level of dancing and performance, visuals and aesthetics. They have it all…. they always strive to give the full experience to their fans and audience.. But what really drew me into them as a 41 yo fan is their LYRICS, they always have something to say that relates to a lot of people.. Mostly tackles on mental health, fair representation, socioeconomic issues, gender empowerment and many more… They are socially aware, they may not be perfect but they do their best to better people and role models.. They’re so humble and funny that you can’t help but adore them.. Those are the few reasons why their fandom spans across generations, cultures and genders.. They are very inclusive.. Over 60% of ARMYS (fandom name) ranges from 20-80 yo, coming from all walks of life, profession, gender and nationality… and most importantly for the past 10 yrs or so, all members are heavily involved with their music as either songwriters/producers.. esp the rappers with each over a hundred song credits in their names.. Btw pls turn on CC (close caption).. you will appreciate their music more with their thoughtful, deep lyrics..

K-pop usually has singing and rapping, but not all groups have good rappers, BTS actually has some of if not the best rappers in the Korean industry (not underground). Some of the best lyrics also. I got into BTS because of kdramas, I enjoy random songs from other groups here and there, but mostly it's only BTS (in the pop scene). When u talk about soloists tho, I really like IU and Dean.
