First Reaction to Cyndi Lauper - True Colors 

Love Cyndi Lauper's quirky style & she is a really good singer songwriter. She has had a lot of hits especially in the 80's such as "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "Time After Time", "She Bop", "All Through The Night", "Change Of Heart", "I Drove All Night" etc. "True Colors" was recorded by Cyndi in 1986. Phil Collins did a great cover of it in 1998.

Written by Tom Kelly Billy Steinberg .It wet to number one beating Tina Turner's Typical Male .It was leading in air and record sales ,where Typical Male was leading in Airplay ."True Colors" also became a standard in the gay community. In various interviews, Lauper elaborated that the song had resonated with her because of the recent death of her friend, Gregory Natal, from HIV/AIDS. Years later, Lauper co-founded the True Colors Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating LGBT youth homelessness.

Cyndi voice is phenomenal & love her style. All Through The Night by Cyndi Lauper is my favorite song, A Top 5 in the charts in the USA, no music video for the song, but her live performance from live in Paris 1987 from a special for a cable network is awesome. I Drove All Night is another great song by her. More from this Iconic artist.

Her vocals go everywhere... pop, rock, punk, blues, jazzy numbers, dance. I recommend: Change of Heart, Boy Blue (the video is a live cut; this song as a single did not chart well but it does show off her vocal chops live). Her 90's output was completely ignored by radio so most non fans will not know her 90's material. So I suggest: Who Let In The Rain, That's What I Think, I'm Gonna Be Strong, You Don't know. There's more of Cyndi beyond the 90's that continued to go under the radar. Into the nightlife or Funnel of Love.
