Elvis nails this song. He wasn't just the greatest singer of all time, he performed the song, made it come alive. He put his all into this song. Phenomenal.
Elvis is fantastic but he is not the Greatest singer of all time I mean Freddie Mercury is also considered the greatest singer of all time the truth is artists like Freddie and Elvis share a pedestal and deserve to be considered the greatest.
Elvis really is above and beyond any artist of today . It goes without saying how naturally talented he was, gorgeous and a beautiful generous soul and it exuded from every pore of his being. He will never be surpassed.
When we say today are we including artists like Freddie Mercury because I'm not saying hes better but Freddie could match Elvis in every way Charisma, Presence and singing talent I mean during Live Aid obviously Elvis no doubt was a huge inspiration to Freddie but he played on of his songs and performed it perfectly and that was with a bad throat.
@@samuel10125Elvis greater than Freddie. His voice Range is truly unique. It’s impossible to auto tune Elvis’s voice but someone auto tuned Freddie’s voice. Freddy is great! No doubt about it but he’s not Elvis!
I was lucky and blessed enough to be able to see Elvis perform live in concert 4 times in my early life. He really was hands down one of the best performers and singers of all time.
Elvis sang this song as a tribute to MLK as Elvis hated racism and wanted everyone to come together! He was a Great Humanitarian who did many, many kind deeds for so many people and thats why we called him our King ,the King of Kindness !😍
Elvis is the voice. There are certain events in human history that are forever engraved in our lives. And there is Elvis singing you can feel and forget all the problems in life. Something in his voice attracts a lot of attention and emotion and it is etched in the memory.
He blows every other singer away because of how much feeling he put into the song. He didn't just sing it, he lived and breathed it. That why his songs make us feel alive, and that is why it is so magical to watch him sing them.
Been a massive Elvis fan since I first was shocked by his amazing vocals on the radio back in the early 70s as a kid. Believe me there was nothing like Elvis back in the day or as magical as Elvis back in the day and all these years later as much as I love so many great artists, there is nothing like Elvis even today. That great man is so special and is on another level in everyway. Just a very special human being, vocally, looks, moves, charisma, humility, authenticity, cool, he had it all in spades full on another level. And the world still loves him...we won't see his like again!
Elvis put so much passion and emotion into this his best performance the man was so talented beautiful to look at such charisma there'll never be another like him thank you 😊
I was 11 when Elvis died & used to play his vinyl records & watch his movies on Saturday afternoons. My first remembrance of a major death felt around the entire world 😢♥️
You are completely astounded by his voice and talent. That's what your eyes and smile tell me. Thank you for the beautiful words about our idol. And please keep giving such beautiful comments we older Elvis fans enjoy them. Greetings from the Netherlands
The magic was the message, particularly on that day, in that setting and with the much larger picture of our country's history. Please check the story behind this performance. It will add so much more.
Thank you very much... you've said it all ! Elvis was and still isthe animation of everything related to being human through his voice and music, without him ever noticing.
Elvis was a beautiful man singer performer.his voice sucks you in and your ears are amazed at his voice and presents.still listen to him and love him.I am 61
Oh I loved him as a litter girl. He was my “boyfriend” when I was 6 lol he passed when I was 8 years old and when I found out he died, I cried in my bed all day. He is the GOAT! There was no auto tune back then. That is him singing not produced that’s why you can feel so much!! Sometimes he makes me cry even after all of these years. I love the little cry in his voice it is so beautiful! I’m glad you got to experience The King💕💕I have a couple of requests for Elvis be back lol can’t remember where one was recorded lol
Elvis grew up in the church & specifically in a black church that was near his home which welcomed hiim & his mother.. gospel music was his absolute favorite & he had the largest collection of gospel music in america at one time... the network was opposed to his doing this song but he had so much respect & admiration for dr. king & took inspiration from him he stood his ground & basically said no song.. no special.. the infulence of his church upbringing is so up front in this performance & he literally did take us to church with this Thank you for sharing such an honest & heart touching reaction with us check out his performance of how great thou art the best video version is of him in a blue jumpsuit from 1972
Awesome reaction! Yes Elvis believed in and felt every word in this song. According to the documentary "This Is Elvis" - he was usually not a fan of "messages" but this was 1968 - and after the assassination of then presidential candidate Robert Kennedy, and the assassination of Martin Luther King just weeks before, and the anti war riots - he felt he wanted to end this television special with this song which was relevant to what was happening in America at that time. Note - this NBC Elvis TV special (later renamed The '68 Comeback Special) was the most watched event of 1968! You have great taste in music! God bless you!
In elvis Presley late end of his career no matter how ill or exhausted or tired he felt he always did his best he could performing on stage for his fans elvis presley manager always said too everyone no matter how elvis presley felt as long that man was on stage performing he didn't care how elvis presley felt anyways so sad.
Elvis greatest voice ever to sing.. Elvis never wrote his own songs, but what he did do was sing / arrange the 770+ songs he sang making them better then the original. Elvis's voice got even better and stronger up to the day he died. Watch Elvis sing Hurt / How Great Tho Art / Unchained Melody from his last Concert 1977 filmed just 6 weeks before he died.. The Power in his voice even tho his body was failing him the voice grew stronger
Trying to get to you and Love me from the 68 comeback special omg! He is so charming and he loves woman screaming at him lol oh and American Trilogy from Hawaii. The whole 68 come back special is magical!!
elvis always seemed like the most famous singer to me.. but i think it was more than his voice, as most people notice, that made him seem like such an icon.. almost like santa claus you know.. elvis was santa claus famous
Have you heard 'In the Ghetto' You should react to 'Elvis and the Black Community' Part 1 & 2 SOOOOO good! You really get to know Elvis in a whole new way. I will love this man FOREVER!
I’ve been watching so many Elvis reactions, and I just can’t believe I never subscribed to your broadcast. I’m giving my age away. Lol but I was honored to have seen Elvis eight times live in concert. Met most of his family met most of his back up singers, costars and his band. I fell in love at five years old , all it took was one look on my black-and-white TV and I’ve been in love my entire life …not so much with the entertainer but with the man and what he represented to that five year old little girl. He has always remained the greatest hero of my life. my son now has a little girl and she is an Elvis fan and wants to go to Graceland to show her love to Elvis Presley. Isn’t that the greatest gift of all ? that my five-year-old little Charlotte Rose is jamming in the house to Elvis music. Perhaps she was that same five-year-old little girl who fell in love all over again 65 years later I’m so glad you’re enjoying Elvis. I’m using voice messaging, so I hope this came out correctly. If you haven’t checked Elvis singing what now my love from his aloha from Hawaii concert that’s a phenomenal song. God bless you God, keep you safe and I’m so happy that you’re enjoying Elvis. Perhaps one day you’ll be in love as well ….after all heroes are timeless they live forever. Take care. ❤️
Oh my, you need to watch this whole '68 special and Elvis in Vegas in early 70's! You'll love it...actually watch first Ed Sullivan live and Milton Berle live
You will Love His Gospels those are WOW and I'm not even close to being a church type person. Elvis knew how to sing his Faith and that's the point of it all.
He sang this only twice, that night. This is a combination of those performances. He never sang it again because it just took too much out of him, emotionally. It was in honor of his friends, Robert F. Kennedy who was assassinated not long before this was filmed, and Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated earlier in the year.
New subscriber here you are so adorable. I love your reactions towards Elvis I'm 62 years old My dad was a big Elvis fan so I was brought up with that. I think you would probably fall more in love with Elvis if you watched some of his documentaries to understand him more. And the latest Elvis movie with Austin Butler was pretty much spot on. He's a beautiful man inside and out. You captured my heart by your reaction to Elvis. Keep up the good work I'm starting with your latest ones and working up to your newest ones. God bless you.
You need to plan a trip to Graceland and spend a weekend in Memphis. There is so much music history there. Graceland, Sun Studios, Beale St, Tina Turner Museum, Soul Music Museum. You will love it
Coming out of London England , the stars aligned when this man was born, I found elvis when I was 12 and got him straight away, I also got some Indian ink a needle and tattooed his name on my forearm, it still deep rich black and like the king will remain till I die, mine will fade but the king will always shine, carlie welcome to the greatest.
This was Elvis's Powerful and Heartfelt Tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr, after his Assasination in Memphis Tennessee in 1968. It was based on the message of MLK's I Have A Dream Speech. it was also Dedicated to Senator Robert F Kennedy who was also Murdered that same Year. It was the Closing Song of the 68 Comeback Special.
It’s insane to think what it must hv been like to watch the Elvis comeback special in ‘68. Not like today when everything is on demand. This must hv been an enormous TV event. Minds must hv been absolutely blown.
Great review as usual… I even had chills watching this. Would love to see you review him singing ‘memories’ from the same TV special. He’s sitting in the around in his leather clothes and he sits down next to the young girls and sings a beautiful ballad.
When you say we have amazing singers right now Falls death of my ears because when you're watching Elvis He Didn't Have autotude he didn't have any of that stuff with your watching is a man who has a deep voice when you listen to today's singers it's all about Auto-Tune
Can't remember exactly who but it was one of the greats like chubby checker that once explained in an interview there are 2 types of singers. Like himself there are singers who work to make themselves make music. Then there is elvis who just opened his mouth and effortlessly music was made.
Yes, Elvis was definitely on a whole different level than today's wanna-be's! In fact, the whole musical era of the 50's, 60's, and 70's was on a whole different, superior level than the past 30 years!
I either read or heard it in a vid that he did not feel good about all the movies he made. I think there were 30 or so and they were pretty stupid by and large. This did not deter Elvis fans from loving them.
Elvis’ voice was pure, natural, God giving talent, that did not require electronic help. This performance of this song,, he was singing his heart out to Americans after what then was considered the most turbulent years in American history. 5:35 5:35 It was after the assignation of 2 of Americas beloved servants, Martin Luther King Jr. & Bobby Kennedy. But this was also in a different time in America when celebrities had patriotic hearts.
