Feuerschwanz is a German folk-metal band. They make their own songs, but also frequently do covers, often metalized versions of non-metal songs. For their latest album, they did a bonus CD where each of their members could pick a song to cover, and they this the “Die glorreichen Sieben” (The Magnificent 7) because it is 7 songs. This song is one of those bonus song. The original song in this case is a metal song from the US band Manowar, and it was chosen by Hans Platz the guitarist. This song actually features 3 guest singers, Melissa Bony from Ad Infinitum, Thomas Winkler aka Angus McFife, former singer of Gloryhammer and Alea from Saltatio Mortis. In general, Feuerschwanz features good music combined with not taking themselves too seriously. A fun video from them also featuring Melissa Bony is “Ding” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WmlshlqXD54.html When talking about Feuerschwanz and Melissa Bony, one also has to mention the superband “Dark Side of the Moon” formed by 2 members of Feuerschwanz, Melissa Bony, and the drummer form Amaranthe. They cover songs from movies or TV series. For instance check out their version of Jenny Of OldStones from Games of Thrones ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uO4qhtGij_0.html You will not be disappointed!
This Song is a Cover! The Original Song is from „Manowar“ The Hurdy gurdy is something special, because it was an Electric one! They are Not all members of „Feuerschwanz“! 3 Vocalists are from Other Bands! Melissa Bonny ( Ad Infinitium, The Dark side of the moon ), Jörg Roth ( Saltatio Mortis )
The violinlike instrument with the crank is called a "HurdyGurdy" in English and "Vevlira" in Swedish. The wheel run by the crank replaces the bow and gives a continuous sound from the strings. Was once back in the day used instead of a church organ in small village churces (at leat that is what I have heard). An electric HurdyGurdy produces an amazing sound.
It's no wonder they were all in. This is a cover of an absolutely legendary band, Manowar. Started in 1980, still doing it today. A history of incredible heavy metal anthems. Their singer, Eric Adams, is a powerhouse and a technical example of how to preserve a voice. Still hits mindblowing notes at 70. If you want a look at them, use something like Heart of Steel, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hHGHAkFUPr0.html this one or the one on the oficial channnel. Warriors of the World is alright, but Eric stays in a speech singing register the whole time, While in Heart of Steel he shows a bit of all his resources, except his lowest range. For more metal with a hurdy-gurdy, Eluveitie (pronouced Helvetie) is a must. Rebirth is the recomended start. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d-pSq4MJmy8.html
And another castle that Alea (Jorg Roth, Saltatio Mortis) was in. He was ill at the time of filming, so his part was done separately elsewhere, which is why the others aren't in the scenes with him.
napalm's supergroup. you're right, they are all very engaged. if you like this sound you can check out from one singer of them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6iO2sdC-IV8.html
So glad you watched this. From the first time I saw the video to now (perhaps as many as 6 viewings now) I have found tears in my eyes. Not sure if it is a "serious" song, or perhaps more of a winking homage, but it strikes me emotionally for some reason. Thanks for your always-enjoyable attention to the video.
I'm an old Manowar fan since the late 80s, but I also love this cover. It's so much fun, Feuershwanz is always great and they brought in some amazing guest vocalists here. The whole thing works wonderfully for me. Other commenters have already brought up the hurdy-gurdy (I also love the sound of that contraption), and I'd like to second Cellar Darling, they are great, but one other hurdy-gurdy player who I didn't see mentioned is Patty Gurdy. She's also a great singer and has some nice songs of just her and a hurdy-gurdy. She's played with some other bands, like Alestorm which is where I first heard/saw her, and also played hurdy-gurdy on the last Ayreon album.
Great reaction 😁. I loved Manowar, when i was a little younger. Did you recognice the guy with the halberd: It is a bass. This song is truly a catchy tune, i have a urge to sing the melody of the refrain
Actual it's more Feuerschwanz & Friends here. I guess they just asked all their friends from the German Fantasy and Medival Music Scene to join them to do this and it turned out great! The song is actually a cover of a Manowar Song. I am a Manowar fan to and I like the original but this version is just mega badass and beautifully matches up all the talents and instruments of these musicians into this one big piece of Fantasy-Folk-Power-Metal and of course the Video is just beautifully puts this into pictures.
Your reaction videos are perfect for me, no needless interruptions of the song, but instead you've used video-editing for your reactions. Awesome. Subscribed.
When 4 bands come together to produce a mega group anthem, just a fantastic sound which drives you from the start to the end with no let up, fantastic song originally by Manowar and I think this is its own beast. The unusual instrument was a Hurdy Gurdy (aka a wasp in a tin due to its buzzy tone)
The Location is the "Homburg" near the village "Gössenheim" in northern Bavaria. I live nearby, I wish I had known when they were shooting this. Would have been so awesome to watch.
The hurdy-gurdy is also prominently featured in music of the band called Cellar Darling, which was founded by ex-members of Eluveitie that has been already mentioned in other comments.
Love your reaction. Awesome song. I enjoy Feuershwanz quite alot. I second Ding which is a cover of a Seed EDM song. I also love Untot im Drachenboot, a song about zombie Vikings. The strange instrument is a Hurdy Gurdy. As others have mentioned Eleuveite, Cellar Darling and Saltatio Mortis are folk metal bands that also use the hurdy gurdy. The first two singers are the leads from Feuerschwanz, The third singer, Melissa Bony, has so many great songs. Ad Infinitum is her main gig now, but to hear her growling checkout Warkings Sparta or Odin's sons (as the Queen of the Damned). The fourth singer, Alea, and his band Saltatio Mortis just released a great video of The Dragonborn Come from the Skyrim video game with Lara Loft. The last singer, Thomas, was in Gloryhammer and my favorite song is Unicorn Invasion of Dundee. He also played ODIN in Nanowar of Steel's Valhalleluja which is such a fun song! Concur on the Darkside of the Moon and their Jenny of Oldstones cover. Also love their newest video of May it Be from the Lord of the Rings with Charlotte Wessels.
Good reaction - I love Feuerschwanz' version more than the original by Manowar. May I suggest something from German medieval themed rock/metal band "In Extremo"? ;)
Clearly the best of this version in my eyes are the ad libs. They make it even more epic and give each of the singers the space she*he needs. It's similar to some Ayreon songs, where the singers at the end of an album can shine once more (i.e. The Sixth Extinction, Day Twenty: Confrontation).
Now complètique, now germanien please, c'est vraiment une alliance de merde, j'ai vraiment du sang celtique et surtout pour mes ancêtres les vikings please, jamais j'oublierai, l'Allemagne, pour la seconde guerre mondiale please jamais please, malgré con et surtout Européen avec l'Allemagne, je serais vraiment jamais pour cette alliance de merde please, plutôt disparaître avec mes trois maladies graves please jamais please, complèter pour l'Allemagne jamais.
Game of Thrones meets metal. I’ve heard of this band although I’m not familiar with their music. Overall…not bad…not bad of all. The vocals reminded me of the Lordi vocalist. Love the interjecting female vocal…that adds a lot to the song overall. Yeah, I liked this. Great post Sabina…have I said that before..😂😂😂?
Hi Sabina, thank for react and sharing. Huge love from Indonesia. Request next react : Cakra Khan - Kekasih Bayangan (Beloved Shadow). This original link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NIm66NhJsmg.html
This is actually a cover version of the Manowar son Warriors of the World. 5:49 Not all of the people in this video are members of Feuerschwanz - they colaborated here with Melissa Bonny from Ad Infinitum, Thomas Winkler, formerly from Gloryhammer, and Alea der Bescheidene from Saltatio Mortis.
If you like folk vibes in metal and powerful multilayered singing, Eluveitie should be your next step. React to Ategnatos and Rebirth videos, and The Call of the Mountains with their previous singer.
fun fact: 1. The halberd isnt an instrument, they just decided "to create" something he can hold in the hands and it should look awesome. 2. There are no clearly visible upper body shots of the ladies, because on the day of the making of it was cold and windy and the ladies had to deal with some stiffness problems :D 3. Alea der Bescheidene was ill on the day of the making of, so they patched him into the vid afterwards
Instant subscribe to your channel for several reasons. 1 You are beautiful with very pleasant voice 2 you have very engaging personality 3 you found genius way to express your comments during video without interrupting or disrupting video by pausing or talking over it, and without padding video by firstly watching and then watching again while commenting. You are GENIUS , and another thing to respect is that this methodic requires more work on the video editing , much more work I assume, BUT it fixes critical problems with commenting/expressing your emotions during video. Good job.
I just discovered your channel and I already love it. I love your comments and reactions. Your smile is the most beautiful of all youtube. Where are you from? Greetings from a new fan from Guadalajara, México 🇲🇽❤.

If you like Ben here , he also sings with D’artagnon. Feuerschwanz is what I call medieval metal. They actually dress like this all the time. Three of the singers are guest of the group
So the Manowar version is worthy of a watch, but I love the dedication the Feuerschwanz brings. If Im allowed one critique: To me Melissa's voice fits a bit less but she is so amazing its a really small point. And skills like she (and all the other singers) bring are almost always beautiful to listen too. Thomas however for me steals the show. I dont know if they conflict in Gloryhammer was already ended when they filmed this, but he looked happy here, I loved him in Gloryhammer and I look forward to him seeing perform with more bands or maybe even a new dedicated band in the future. One thing you did not talk about where the lovely ladies sparring with Axes. Now I am part of the Historical European Martial Arts community (HEMA) and while they look fierce, I did get worried a bit about some of those swings. It depends on the top of the axes and how much was choreographed, sped up etc, but here and there I did see some lesser control over their weapons. But given how much perspective and context matter, I might be totally overreacting. I'm also not a big fan of the maille over skin Hauptmann is rocking. It looks good, but seems to me be very abrasive (at least in my experience with sparring against someone wearing it.
